: You get what you deserve!!
focusin 02-21-2008, 07:03 PM Well I was on the way home and a buddy I work with passed me going WAY to fast. I was doing the speed limit for once and decided to break out and try to get him to slow down, anyway I slowed him down a good bit but not enough. Right over the top of the hill was a State trooper, got my friend at 79 in a 65 and myself at 75 in a 65.
Moral of the story, no good deed goes unpunished. I did the speed and got busted I'm not bitching and saying the cop was a PITA in fact he was one of the most pleasant cops I have dealt with despite the ticket, it just kills me that I was TRYING to help a friend and look what it got me.[?|] So what do you all, think was the speeding to slow down a friend a justified reason or should I let him get busted at triple digit speeds? I did not tell the cop why we were speeding like that b/c of the whole idea he would NEVER actually believe it.

GreenEnvy 02-21-2008, 07:10 PM The heck with that. Let him go next time and leave it be, friend or not, it was his problem.
his stupidity cost you money and possibly points and such.
RobsRedRacer 02-21-2008, 07:15 PM yea i agree..next time just let him go
focusin 02-21-2008, 07:33 PM Yea I will next time, if there is a next time in my life I never really get to actually use the lessons I learn.
shepski 02-21-2008, 07:41 PM Now, if you both had SYNC, you could have just called his a@@ on the fly and told him to cool it...
Weldman0730 02-21-2008, 07:50 PM You know i have tried to do things to help out my friends like you, and unfortnatly the only way they learn is to get whats coming to them the hard way.
dirtbrown 02-21-2008, 07:58 PM you knew the cop was there?????
i dont think by you going faster is gonna make him slow down.[scratch]
focusin 02-21-2008, 08:15 PM I knew cops were patrolling the area, a new state trooper office is coming up on that road and they tend to be there a lot now. To be honest like I said he did slow down from triple digits to 79, so speeding up to flash at him DID work just not soon enough.
cebrowne 02-21-2008, 08:16 PM You let that guy beat you by 4 mph? Oh, the horror, the horror!
focusin 02-21-2008, 08:19 PM LOL
I actually saw the cop first, he thought it was a car broke down on median so I hit the brakes first and then my friend started to slow down.
1stTimeFocus00 02-21-2008, 08:26 PM cell phone?
focusin 02-21-2008, 08:28 PM His is out of service right now, it really went down so fast that there was no time for a cell phone call either way.
PlasticRacer 02-21-2008, 11:00 PM Hey, at least you didn't get caught in a DUI checkpoint n gettin arrested because of zero tolerance n getting your car impounded.... [:)]
DrkKnight614 02-21-2008, 11:37 PM Um, you should of just let him go. If he's stupid enough to do triple digits then he deserves whatever he gets man. Friend or not, if I was in your situation I wouldnt of bothered at all. In my book irresponsibilty is not tolerated no matter who you are.
razorrik 02-22-2008, 06:40 AM it was a good jesture
focusin 02-22-2008, 06:58 AM Yea again like I said from now on people are on their own, I'd be OK on the DUI check point if I drive I have AT MOST 2 drinks. They are very strict about that around here and I try to stay out of that situation.
Weldman0730 02-22-2008, 07:16 AM ^^the best way to stay out of that situtation is not to even take the law for granted about being able to drive over 21 with a .02% bac, and allow yourself to have a .02%bac, just wait to drive till you got a .00% bac.
mikelspencr 02-22-2008, 08:37 AM i would never chase a buddy down...i would say "Wow, look at [that guy] go...I wonder who did his engine this time? I'll call him later to find out what's new under there..oh snap, well, ill see him when he gets his car back...now where was that Starbukx...dum diddly dim"
LastRites 02-22-2008, 08:42 AM Radar detectors FTW !
focusguy87 02-22-2008, 10:18 AM Man invented cell phones......I wonder why? lol
focusin 02-22-2008, 12:35 PM Radar detectors FTW !
FTL More like it
I have one, they wait until you get in their site and then turn them on. In fact he asked me if mine has ever done any good for me I told him it helps in SOME cases but most of the time it only tells me when I'm busted.
LastRites 02-22-2008, 01:04 PM What do you run? Mine has saved me a ticket at least once every day and while it's true that they can't beat laser or instant on it's the rest of them it works against, even over hills in my case.
Very few local departments here run laser, mostly state patrol and you can spot them while still out of range. I haven't run into any guys doing instant on either.
All locales are going to be a little different from traffic density to how these guys adopt what they do to catch a speeder however in this one here I have complete confidence in both the detector as well as observing what is happening on the road.
besthaticouldo 02-22-2008, 02:42 PM dude...youre only 10 over...thats not really that bad...
had he got you for street racing which it could have looked like...then youd be effed.
haha
but next time let the dipshit go.
focusin 02-22-2008, 07:25 PM Lastrights I have a cobra and it has worked fine for me for about 2 years now, the police around here don't use laser but are doing instant ons more and more now. The radar detector I have works over hills and even (depending on the circumstance) around turns, its just a useless tool when the cops have found a way to beat it.
Good job on accepting what you did wrong. :)
PlasticRacer 02-25-2008, 11:32 PM I'd be OK on the DUI check point if I drive I have AT MOST 2 drinks. They are very strict about that around here and I try to stay out of that situation.
Yea it wasn't alcohol related as i don't drink nor am i old enough to do so, it was just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Should've made my turn and go home, but i was being stupid, and didn't and i'm tellin ya, i paid for it, BIG time
