I have the Roush Stage 2 suspension kit (comes with rear sway), not currently installed but soon. I also will have SVT 17 inch rims soon.
My question is: What size tire will give good ride comfort, yet not rub with the 1-3/4" drop the Roush kit will give? The stock 215/45-17 tires look to have enough sidewall to flex over the craptastic roads in west Orlando.

A lot depends on wheel offset and the tire shape itself (actual tread width and shoulder shape vary a lot from tire to tire, even those sharing the same aspect ratios and section width). That drop and tire size usually works best with larger offsets (45mm or more). Below 45mm and with that drop you increase the chance of rubbing pretty much with any 17" tire size.

The SVT rims are 49 mm offset which is pretty big so you may be able to use 215-45-17. I have the eibach kit, 1.2 front and 1.6 in the back and I am fine running 215-45 on SVT rims.

Lol, I hope 17'' can clear. Because I have Roush 2 and I just bought 4 03 svt tires :-)

^^^ Cajun, let me know how it works out for you. You are going to use 215/45x17 tires, correct?

when i had 17's on my focus, i had the 205/45/17, yokahoma, my personal opionin on those was, they where still to big. so i sized down with ventus and went to 205/40.17, after that i wsa good....
... but i didn't have a drop on it yet... so that maybe change things up
