Well it seems right now that I will be getting a free 2004 zx3 from a guy that my dad works with. The guy wants to get rid of it since he apparently blew the computer in it, and it will no longer start. All he wants for it is that I come pull it out of his garage that it has been sitting in for a year. Apparently he has so much money he just went out and bought a new car instead of getting the foci fixed.

From what I know of the car is that the engine itself is fine, as is the interior. IN fact it has racing seats and it's a 5 speed. with other goodeis that he had put on when he street raced with it. I am expecting it to be riced out when i get it because he said he had a spoiler on it and an exhaust can. So hear is my plan, my Fiance wants to buy a new car so I thought maybe I install all of my stock stuff that will fit from my 01 zx3(she hates how loud my car is[8D] ) go out to a junk yard and pull a computer from a wrecked foci and put it in the 04. That way she gets a free car and I get lots of goodies for my car!

So I guess my question is if that it's only the computer thats wrong with it, how hard of a project is that?

are you sure thats whats wrong with it? does the engine spin over? do the plugs fire? im sure after a year of sitting it will need a good tune up and fluids changed. i bought a civic hatch one time for 200 bux from a guy. he claimed the engine was messed up and it wouldnt start. i took the car home and put all the plug wires on the right plugs and it fired up and ran like new. some moron put the plug wires on the wrong plugs and the engine wouldnt start. but you should take the car to a good mechanic shop and get it diagnosed. might be something easier to fix than a computer module. then again it could be something alot worse.

Well I havent seen the car yet, It would be awesome if it was something easy to fix, but even if we spent 2,000 getting it fixed it up it would still be an amazing steal since we are getting it for free.

Yeah I figured I could find a computer easily since my local junk yard unfortuantly has alot of dead foci's.

Not sure which engine it has, part of me hopes it's the duratec because of the small performance advantage over the zetec but the other half hopes it's the zetec since I am familiar around it. I am assuming that the 04 zx3 was mostly zetec.

Base trim was Zetec only. Middle trim had the option to get a Duratec. Top trim came standard with the Duratec.

this is kinda funny.. . i also just found out that my wife's dad works with a guy who's kid crunced his focus... lower control arm is all thats damaged... its got a new motor... thats all i know about it so far... but most likely will be getting it for free or next to nothing... the dad bought the kid a new car and the car is sitting in front of his appartment and he's worried someone is gonna call in on him... so if i dont take it... its going to the junk heap... im excited... hoping its a 5spd

good deal it could also be a blown fuse or bad relay there are many number of things that would cause the car not to start.

Yeah I am hoping it's something really stupid that the guy just happened to overlook. I will definantly post pictures up when I get the car. My dad is talking to him tomorrow about it, and if all goes right I will be abe to get it wednesday night. I will also be definantly asking for advice since this is the first "project" car I will be working on!

Got an update on the car. Last week my dad told me that he made a mistake and the car is actually is a Black zx5. Still cool I guess and I am suppose to go see the car here pretty soon. Well take a look at the pcitures he brought home and tell me if this looks like a zx5 to you! lol[smackbum] My dad doesn't know his cars but it's still a focus.

If you look at the interior you can see where the guy painted it neon green.[confused] Also notice the ugly fart can.

Those are 15" 'wagon' wheels. Its a really nice OEM wheel (originally came on Focus wagons), and only weight 15 pounds each.

If it is a 2004 ZTS, then you have a Duratec under the hood. [thumb]

And I don't know why people insist on painting their interior such disgusting colors.

Thats to bad about the wheels, I was hoping I could just do a tire swap but all is good. Figures the car I will be giving my fiancee has the better engine.
