I am going on a road trip over the Memorial Day weekend. I will be putting around 1500 miles on my car.

Here is my dilema, and what i want your opinion on. My last oil change was at 19,000 miles. I am currently at 22,000 miles. I expect to be around 22,300 when i leave, so i should be about 23,800 when i return. The shop that does my oil changes recommends my next service at 24k. Is it better to wait till i get back, or should i play it safe and change my oil before i leave.

thanks for you input.

i would say wait until you get back. highway driving is a lot easier on your car than normal in-town driving.

I'm paranoid and I always do a oil change and check fliuds before I leave for a trip.
Also, do a look over of the car. Tires, brakes, etc.
Make sure your car is ready for the trip.

If I put over 2K miles during the trip, the car gets another oil change when I return.

Oil is cheap compared to repairing engine damage.

i'd wait. they say to change your oil every 3000 miles but it can last up to 7000 miles before it starts to break down. I change mine every 5000 miles.
