ANyone know a thing or two about a Zetec to 2.3L duratec swap? mounts? etc. Fellow member told me i could get a 2.3 from a ford ranger(and if anyone knows the difference between a 2.3 from a focus and the ranger engine. Any input on the idea? much appreciated thx. Car is in need of new engine =) come on ppl let's brainstorm. well, not need. just would be nice.

the main difference in the 2.3's in the ranger and focus is the absense of the balance shaft in the ranger, that i can think of right now.
as far as swap, you'll need a new P/S mount, for the duratec, full engine harness, PCM, exhaust manifold, and im sure there are a bit more tid bits along the way.

If you put in a V6 not only will you have a heavy nose.. you will have..
a complete lack of being able to just bolt on parts to your focus. You will have to get everything custom made.. like exhaust.
If you are in love with displacement TOM can build you an engine. However even with a D20 it is fairly easy to get 300whp..
Use the extra money to swap in a mazdaspeed 6 drivetrain lol... it should cost you 5-7 grand for all the fabrication.
the lack of a balance shaft is a GOOD THING may I ad.

Don' forget the bell housing. The Zetec bell housing won't mate to a Duratec block.

And while you're at it, clutch and flywheel (assuming MTX)...

The ranger crank is also about 5 LBS lighter
And the camshafts are different, for more torque and less HP.
