: So what's stopping you from just randomly going on a road trip to the beach?
lawrenceburg 05-17-2004, 07:33 PM I'm just about to get my Focus SE zetec 2001 blue tomorrow and the car world is sort of new to me. I wonder why people sometimes don't leave for a weekend to the beach (and sleep in their car). Is this at all logical to do once every month or so? I live in Tennessee.
Kicknzx3 05-17-2004, 07:34 PM i kinda hard for me, i live there :)
Sure, if you like that sort of thing.
I never was big on the beach.

I have Kids lol
Don't think the wife would like it to much if I up an left for the beach without them :), plus kinda hard to sleep the family in the focus
KimmySueZX5 05-17-2004, 08:02 PM How about the fact of living in Colorado and working 5 days a week. Doesn't really give you time to enjoy a road trip. :(
microtonal 05-17-2004, 08:10 PM I guess I sort of did this last year when I drove to Los Angeles from Seattle in about 21 hours.
I had enough of the Focus by then and wanted to get the heck out of my car.
I also did the same on the trip back to Seattle.
The front seats aren't too bad when reclined but I only slept for about an hour. :-)
inline_engine_lover 05-17-2004, 08:10 PM Do it, nothing is stopping you.
dinero, money, the green, $$$$$$, gotta work, it sucks!!!
jeremy 05-17-2004, 08:27 PM i slept in my zx3...once. it wasn't the best rest i have had. i slept in the front seat, though, maybe if i put the rear seats down and slept in the "trunk" it would be more comfortable...
nevertheless, if you wanna go on a roadtrip....GO! be a tourist in your own country! and the sooner the better, with the rate gas prices are expected to climb, you might save money being "wild and impetuous" now and taking a sleeping tour in your focus.
1sloho 05-17-2004, 08:34 PM well seeing that i live like 5 mins. from the beach, can go there whenever i want and i dont hafta sleep in my car when i get tired.
jrzx3 05-17-2004, 10:15 PM I live 5 minutes from beach too. But I hate gettin all sandy and gross. You would understand if you had soooo much hair (ON HEAD THANK YOU). My hair is so freakin long and it just feels gross from beach.
Anyways, never slept in car... but wanting to try other things. Ehhh..
djnevoc 05-17-2004, 10:19 PM me and the wifey headed down to the beach this weekend....Wilmington Beach in NC... Ill have to get the pics up on here!!
tarball 05-18-2004, 02:10 AM Price of gas... price of gas and price of gas
scironzts 05-18-2004, 08:19 AM in my old zx3, i would take off for the beach whenever i had a day off. had the back seats out of the car, so laying a blanket down in the back and sleeping in the car wasn't too hard. plus, with dark tinted windows, and a sunshade, noone could ever see in the car to even tell if someone was sleeping or not. gotta love it. wake up at the ass crack of dawn, kill some waves, then grab some brunch around 11, and chill for the rest of the day, and repeat the next day.
staticprevails4 05-18-2004, 08:33 AM my friends used to do this alot when we were in high school. just decide to drive down to the shore at like 11pm at night and hang out there all night and come back early in the morning to do what we had to do.
Chick 05-18-2004, 10:31 AM I work during in the evenings and I gotta save my vacation days for when I really need 'em.
Doesn't matter, I'm going to Va. Beach in less then a month anyway so kttnmthkngs420 I'm comin' to see ya :)
