: traded in focus, new car pics
02specv 01-01-2008, 10:18 AM Well my wife decided she wanted a bigger car, so the focus had to go. If it was paid off I woulda kept it, but we just bought a house a couple of months ago and couldn't afford the extra note. I got shafted on the trade in, like I aways do. I keep saying I'll never trade another car in yet I keep doing it. She owed 5100 on it, kbb sad it was worth 6600 in good condition, the dealer gave us 4000. Kinda sucks but o-well.
On to the new car...its a 08 Mazda CX-7. Platinum exterior and black interior. I'm not a big fan of alot of options, so it's pretty basic, but they all have the same 2.3l turboed motor so that's all that really counts. And this little sucker moves. I can't wait till it's broken in so I can fully test it. And for a small suv, it handles really well. The steering is super responsive and has a over all very smooth ride. The 6speed auto shifts kinda funny, but thats one thing I noticed with all auto mazda's...they just feel weird. My bro's mazda 3 is the same way. But yeah it's pretty nice and we're very happy with it. 244hp out of a 4cyl aint too bad either. Now on to the pics.

FocusStrider 01-01-2008, 10:25 AM nice... yeah when i test drive the Mazda 3, the auto shifts weird as well.. maybe that is because it's "autostick". or we all got too used to the focus shifting. lol.
1stTimeFocus00 01-01-2008, 12:02 PM It looks nice.
boca202 01-01-2008, 12:18 PM Yeah i have to say it...not bad.

CT SVT 01-01-2008, 04:02 PM looks good. corksport.com makes a downpipe and exhaust for your new ride.

I found a message board for it, but havent really looked thru it yet. But I did see that people make exhausts and intakes for it, and some were using some kind of after market blowoff valves.
Dcl2049 01-01-2008, 04:34 PM Sweet. I'm a big fan of the CX-7 man.
croto5000 01-01-2008, 04:48 PM big fat tires and everything! :)
theonly287 01-01-2008, 05:14 PM crossovers arent really my thing but that is a nice car/suv sports thing
cebrowne 01-01-2008, 05:42 PM Why didn't you get an Edge?
02specv 01-01-2008, 11:28 PM Why didn't you get an Edge?
That's what she wanted originally, but after she drovethe cx7 she was sold on it. Plus it was cheaper and has a turbo. I do like the edge too, but couldn't justify the extra 7grand that they wanted for it.
BobBernard 01-01-2008, 11:51 PM I like the CX7.
I like the Edge too.
Nice pick!
WUGcatsvt 01-02-2008, 10:28 AM Sweet Choice... I quite selling Mazdas right after thoughs came out... I got to demo one right before too... It was a very Nice SUV
I also did a dealer trade with that Dealership... They had a 3s that I needed//
WUGcatsvt 01-02-2008, 10:30 AM double

Really!? Mazda wanted 7 grand less than a Ford? Wow, that surprises me. Usually Ford versions of the same vehicle are cheaper than a Mazda. I checked out an Edge once but havent driven the cx-7. The turbo on that mazda looks like a nice draw. How does the turbo-4 on the mazda compare with the V6 on the edge? Did you calculate factory rebates often given from Ford and not the Japanese makes? Seems like the only 'offers' from Japanese makes are just lower lease payments, without lowering the actual price. Just curious. Nice car! Hope you and your family enjoy it!
miniboon 01-02-2008, 10:33 AM looks nice, that's what my lady wants to get when we have kids.
miniboon 01-02-2008, 10:34 AM whats up the radio? is there any display on it?
elcoomagnifico 01-02-2008, 11:06 AM nice car. i had a mazda 6 b4 i bought my svt and i can say that when you use the autostick, it take a lil bit b4 it shifts into gear. only thing i dont like about the autostick
razorrik 01-02-2008, 11:16 AM tada...another one leaves the focus family

I think the CX-9 is closer to Edge, rather than the 7. Anyway, very nice car, there. I, too, thought seriously about getting one, but decided to give an old car a new lease on life.
02specv 01-03-2008, 07:54 PM All the Edges we looked at were 26k, and we got the cx-7 for 19995. The Edge is on the same platform as the cx-9 so it's a tad bigger than the cx-7. The mazda seems to have more pep than the edge, and the steering/suspension is more responsive...you could prob autocross it if you wanted too. It really has no body roll. The radio dispay is on top of the dash, all the newer mazdas are like that. The auto stick is cool, but it does take a while to shift...esp at wot(noticed that on the rental i drove)
SkyPilot 01-03-2008, 08:34 PM not a bad trade, if i say so
Kayak_man 01-03-2008, 09:06 PM congrats on the car! very nice
ZX4STDoug 01-05-2008, 07:09 AM Nice ride, great choice, congrats!
Stuka 01-05-2008, 10:27 AM I love the CX-7. My grandma got one that I drove a while back. The turbo lag was a little annoying, but otherwise it was great.
stivo 01-05-2008, 10:29 AM Yeah man! That's the only SUV-like vehicle that I like.
Waffles ZX3 Kona Sport 01-05-2008, 10:51 AM Thats a very nice ride you got there. I like the radio display too, my buddy used to have a Mazda 6 with the same thing. Kind of unique IMO. Only thing I don't like is the TMIC is covered by the engine shroud - doesn't seem to be very effective.
Dcl2049 01-05-2008, 01:02 PM I didn't even notice that. That is odd.
Oregon-ized 01-05-2008, 01:30 PM Well my wife decided she wanted a bigger car, so the focus had to go.
Bigger? You need bigger? Looks like it's time to trot out the ZX7 again, first seen on these forums last year. [;)]
