I've contacted an overseas dealer that will ship to LA... If I do purchase from him should I go with a WRC or RS. I'm leaning towards the RS. Does anyone know the specs on these?

WRC, as in a 300+hp, 400 ft-lb AWD rally car?

If so, you must have more money than Gates himself!

RS is your best bet. But I like them all. And yup WRC = Rally Car. [:)]

I dont think they are making the WRC off the production line??? I would say get the RS, I was lucky enough to see one at a ford dealership when I was in switzerland last year. They are pretty sweet lookin and the interior is so nice. Are you sure you want to do that though??? Have it brought here. I mean the RS is great and all, but for the money ou can get a new zetech and mod the hell out of it, it will have 600hp and you will still have about 10grand left over. The RS was 30000 dollars when I was in switzerland last year (Thats US!!! It was 37K swiss franqs) for that kinda money like I said you can get a new focus for 13000 and then dump 10 grand into it and have pleanty left over!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

Power bhp (kW) at RPM: 420(309) / 6700

Get a V8 conversion I doubt you could really get a WRC Focus

WinnipegZX3

Lets get some facts straight about this post:

1) You cannot buy a Ford Focus WRC edition. There are many body kits and such designed to make a car look like this, and mods to make it as powerful as this. However, Ford does not produce this car.

2) You cannot buy a Ford Focus RS 8. This car was built to showcase the new cammer 5.0 motor ford has just released, as well as to showcase the Krugel Komponents its used to do the V8 conversion. Once again, you can now purchase this conversion kit through your Ford dealer and make your car pretty sweet, but unfortunately, there is no production version of this car.

Thanks a lot Schumi21. When I saw that the dealer had an RS I figuered they might have a WRC (I didn't know they didn't produce them). Anyways the dealership quoted it at $33500 with shipping to LA. I need to pay of my LX first though (Only $4500 to go!!!!) I would much rather get an RS than a SVT, SE, ZTS, or whatever and just dump lots of money in it. I just want an RS damn it!!! [thumb] Thanks again for all the info BTW.

pio
05-18-2004, 05:42 PM
MAn we all want the RS...
but do some math...

you will need 33,500 to import the thing..
then you need to legalize (if they let you)

with the money you are better buying a zx3 and making an RS clone...

HezNine
05-18-2004, 05:43 PM
Why wouldn't I be able to get it legal???

WD40
05-18-2004, 05:52 PM
Why wouldn't I be able to get it legal???
1) Emissions Controls
2) Crash Safety Standards
3) Front/Rear Bumper Standards
I'm sure there's other items I'm missing.

There's a guy in Bozeman that had a 1995 Escort RS Cosworth (Turbo-AWD) imported and had to pay a pretty penny to make it legal.
Actually, he had someone in CA import it, and do the work to get it certified.
Let me see if I can find out who he had do the work.

I suppose if you've got money to burn......
IMHO, it's not worth it.

pio
05-18-2004, 05:53 PM
well you can...
but seriusly...
will it be worty ?

you can get an RS body kit for 2k - 3k + job
then add the interior...probably 2k - 3k more...
then get an engine work with a turbo for 13k...
it all add up to arround 20k

and you will end up having a faster car than the RS....

to legalize it..
you will need to pass emissions, change all the glass, change the bumpers and the fenders to meet the US regulations...

and many other details...

not worth it...
if you can affort a 45k car why dont you goand buy a cobra ?

HezNine
05-18-2004, 05:58 PM
Ok well I have to admit I didn't know all that was involved...

...and I don't really care for a Cobra, I want the RS.

How much did that Escort guy end up paying for all the legal crap?

pio
05-18-2004, 06:01 PM
well as i said..
try to get all the interior and exterior parts of an RS...
and then paint it blue and let tom add a turbo with a biuld engine, tranny and suspension....

Unless you are buying a car from M-Sport you will not get a WRC car. i know a few people at M-sport, they cost a good few hundred thousand pounds, thats like $400,000. Good luck!!!!

If you would like to build an RS replica i can start a post with all Known ford Finis codes or the car hope it helps.

the WRC from M-sport is a frickin' Dream Machine!!!!
$400,000 is actually a very good price, considering how advanced that car is.

Suitable for tarmac and gravel, dream suspension and braking power. Man, you got me all excited.

Good luck getting it legalized. Oh wait you can't without importing five more of them for submission to the DOT after petitioning to pay for the whole process.

At which point, you could be buying much nicer car.

this guy really doesnt seem like he did his research at all, just seems like "i want an RS and I'm getting one" and thats it. The rs is an amazing car but for 33k and change plus what itll cost to make it legal here itll probably be like close to 40k, and theres alot of things you can get with 40k.....unless your rich this doesnt seem like an intelligent move. But, ive never seen this guy post before so i guess he's not aroud anymore lol.
