Hey everybody -

Just purchased a Focus that happened to be a very good deal, just needs a new slave cylinder line. I used to drive a 94 Escort, but the engine blew (a valve decided to hang out with one of the cylinders), so that forced me to get a new car but it should be for the better, the Focus seems to be a much more of a car. I've been lookin around the site for a little while and I've already learned quite a bit, and I'm sure that will continue. Besides being into cars, I'm also a fanatic about bikes, and I've had my 500 for a few years now, but unfortunately that has to go also.

Anyways, thanks again for the site and keep up the good work!

Somehow I missed this thread.

I'm Adam, right now I have a 1991 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 NA. It breaks down every month and takes the money for it to pay for repairs, not for improvements, so it's for sale now.

I'm looking at a 2004 Focus SVT right now. I have a couple of friends who drive Focuses and I finally decided to join them and mod the Focus and get another Twin Turbo 300ZX as a weekend car later.

hey guys. im a noob here on Fords. Before i came back home to Malaysia I was studying in Midland, Michigan for 2.5 years. I moved to Chicago for about 6 months before returning home.

Prior to this i was a Honda driver with a B18C-R Integra Type R.

Now that im back home, Im taking over my moms 07 Focus S2.0. Im a TOTAL newbie to the Ford scene and will need some guidance. I have no idea what the chasis codes are....neither the engines. So if someone could just let me know what my car is called in the scene it would be greatly appreciated.

its an 07 4 Door Focus Hatchback. The only badging on the rear is S2.0

I'm pretty much here to view for the most part and find out what interesting things people are doing with their fords. I work two jobs and Go to school at UTI so I'm kind of lacking the time to post.

I drive an 06 white ZX3 with a 2 litre Duratec and a 5 speed gearbox. I love all small cars and I picked a focus because nobody around here seems to think it can be a fast car, I'll show em.

Hey guys I just came on here to do a little research so any help you can give me can be great!! I'm looking in to purchasing a Focus and I want to have some HONEST opinions on them. I'm can't purchase a brand new car [:(] but if you guys could give me any tips on what to look for when buying a used Focus would be great. What kind of mileage should I look for? What price? The reliability of the car? Thanks so much in advance!!

If you want a car that you can upgrade HP, get the 2.3L, if you want good gas mileage and less HP, get a 2.0

Since you're buying used, try to look for one with under 50k miles so you can can get some lifespan out of it.

Manual trannys are more fun and put more HP to the road than automatics, so I'd recommend getting a stick. Less to go wrong too.

The fOCUS is probably not as reliable as the honda civic, but way cooler and faster[8D]

Hi everyone! I'm glad to be a focus owner (on my second one). First was a 01 SE 4-door with zetec, now i just bought a 05 ZX3 with 2.0 dura.
Parts waiting to be installed this spring are Roush Stage 2 suspension kit, 18" ADR Interspeed rims with 215/35-18 nexen n3000 tires, and full cat back stainless 2.5" exhaust.
I love shopping on ebay for parts. You can get some pretty incredible deals there. My exhaust $130 shipped, tires/rims $718 shipped, suspension $335 shipped. Plus I'm a Mechanic so labor is free.
Cant wait to post some before and after pics!! Thanks all

Hey, my name is Mike, and I'm 18 years old.

My first car was/is a Ford Focus ZX3 Yellow '06. Bought it with about 6k miles on it and already tossed 10k on it within the past couple months. Everything is stock, 2.0L 5spd. I love it. Looking to do great things with this fofo, but at the moment money is at a minimum while I'm attending school at RIT.

Found this site just by browsing the web. Have been viewing for about 2 weeks now and I've learned so much already, it's great. Can't wait to try my own DIY's and to follow some How-To's.

Hello to everyone!

I purchased my '03 ZX5 at the end of October 2007. We found it (with 51K miles) at a rebuilder shop and I drove 7 hours to look at it! Turns out the car had been stolen and was a theft recovery. Nothing wrong with it except that it needed an oil change and a interior detail job bad. It was a total steal at only $4500.

Other than my 1964 Impala, this has been the most fun I have had owning a car!

Thanks to everyone for all the great info!

HI,

I've been a Focus owner since 2005, used to drive the Focus wagon when I was in Germany and needed to rent a car (couldn't believe the amount of cargo space and head room!)... bought my little one to save gas. Love it.

I came on here to search for (and found) an answer about my turn indicator blinking rapidly.

I'll be hanging out and reading more.

Hey ya'll. Just joined and wanted to stop by and say hi. #2 daughter just bought a new ride for her growing family (they're growing up, not her growing out). [hihi] We bought her 2005 ZX4-ST. Back-up lights did not work and after checking fuses and bulbs found this site and recommendations on b/u switch on transaxle. Have to have someone else check that is more mobile than me.

I have a couple of questions. The latch on the armrest cover is broken [:(!] , any suggestions beyond replacing with another piece of plastic? Also, is the cubbyhole under the CD player where the ashtray would fit? We're smokers, she isn't. Does it just pop out or what? As far as the ashtray, junkyard or possibly dealer? Any info would be appreciated. Dean

Good morning to all you newb's.... early risers for this site....LOL

My name's Billy and I can help you with alot of the wiring and electrical ?'s you might have. I specialize mostly in the Audio/Video area.

As far as finding parts for your cars...05's and a 04 should be easy at a junkyard. Dealership prices will always be just that, dealership prices. And BTW I work at 17 different dealerships.
The owner of the SVT should check the threads dedicated to your cars. They're a sorted bunch.....no offense guys.
As far as the 05 cars go... post it up. Find the right spot to drop a new thread and SOMEONE will respond.

Welcome to FF and be sure to check the Focus Fest threads!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm Chad, and just picked up my first Focus last night.

For years I've been driving Nissan 240's, and have owned 3 of them and have modified them in many different ways. I've had a couple coupes, and one fastback. Done the SR20 swap and have built an all-motor KA once.

So I sold my last 240 and I'm now trying something different. I just picked up a 2002 Infra-Red Focus SVT and so far I'm loving it.

Hope to find out more about these cars and meet some cool intarnet people too.

Hi everyone. I've been here for a while but still a n00b!!! Yeah! [headbang]

Dude, I'm such a n00b that it took me months to find where the pcv valve was.

Anyways, I got myself a 2007 Legacy GT limited co'z the the driver door of the focus would not open anymore. I wanted to throw it away. Then my brother had it fixed!. We put in some g009 tires, new brakes and got the broken spring recall fixed and TARNATIONS!! this baby drive sooooo smooth and handles pretty darn well!! although it's a F.O.R.D. I still give it this: [ffrocks]

I actually had was kinda wishing I didn't buy the Legacy. Well, only for a moment, until the turbo kicks in at Sport sharp I blast past 80 mph in a few secs scaring the toupee off some poor snail sunday driver as they catch a glimpse of me with my tongue hanging out cackling with mad glee [unsure] [thumb] [woot] [whip] [cheers]

I am waiting for my '08 Mica blue SE to arrive. Should be here in 6-8 weeks. I would have loved the SES, but just a little out of my price range. Have a 93 Escort GT with 318,000+ km's. Starting to show its age, although I changed the clutch for the first time at 314,000km's. And I tow a single place snowmobile trailer behind it. Interesting site, chose this one because it seems to have more then just topics on performance and modified cars. Would like to do something someday but just want to enjoy the car for now. Have always liked the Focus and felt now was the time to get one.

Ooo I should have posted here earlier!

I'm a newcomer to the site, with a few posts under my belt already.

I'm a 31yo guy from Dallas, TX (actually Carrollton/Addison area for those familiar with the vagaries of this vast metropolis), married with a 14-month old son, Sven.

I'm the new owner of a 2008 Ford Focus Coupe, S model, 5spd. Nice little car, I posted a review of it in this forum.

My avatar is from the anime Hellsing, good fun if you like that sort of thing.

Hello to everyone on the site! Thanks for a cool place to learn/chat about FoFos and stuff.

Sup everyone...

doobie from WNC here.

my 98 Subaru LGT wagon sells tomorrow and then i'm picking up my 2005 ZX3 5MT. i'm looking forward to a small car.

my first car was a 91 lumina coupe, i loved that car no matter how much hell i catch for it http://images.nasioc.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif well i sold it for my 2001 S10 ZR2, then sold it cause i wanted a 99-01 Impreza RS coupe and ended up with a Legacy Wagon. i wanted a truck again so i bought the 68 Bronco which happens to be a wagon... now i've got a hatch. i'm cursed!

it's ok though. i'm really only planning on having the ZX3 for a couple years until i can afford a chevy truck again. i was only planning on having the legacy till i could find an RS or afford a WRX, but you see how this ended up http://images.nasioc.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif

I'm a tech at a shop in the Upstate of SC, and i'm loving that i don't have to deal with I95 rush hour in providence anymore!

If you wanna talk about RI, the Berkshires of MA, or WNC, i can accommodate.

I've been on forums for a loooong time, from creating and moderating to just being the jester and i'm kinda over it, but i'll post now-and-again here so i look forward to getting into this community. the older and more experienced i get, the more disdain i have for general forum retardation, so that probably accounts for my lessening presence. anyhow, i'm gonna miss my subaru (www.nasioc.com, www.sl-i.net/FORUM) community just like i miss my ZR2 community (www.zr2usa.com), but i hope this will be just as great as they were!

see ya around

Hello everyone!

Just got my 2002 Focus ZX3 last week for only $4500!!!! The catch was just the mileage: it has 143,000 km on it. Other than everything was fine. The windshield had 30 cm crack, but the dealer got it replaced before I took the car home. :)

basically, for the whole last week, every day after work, I did some stuff on the car:
- Replacing dead light bulbs,
- Repair the "stucked door handle" problem (Got the DIY instructions from some websites)
- Cleaning the whole interior (There are a bunch of kids spoons + BB guns bullet below the rear seats)

As for the mod: I got 18" rims Torque 5 rims on it. For some reason (again), I got them very cheap: $500 for the sets (including almost brand new all performance Yokohama parada spec II tires). Not bad, eh?

I will post the pics on the "gallery"

Hi everyone ,I walked into a local Ford dealer today and enquired about purchasing a Focus Zetec .The model here comes with leather interior,
Single CD and 5 Speed Manual gearbox as well as all the other bits standered with the Focus .The guy told me to hold off because in june Ford are importing a new Focus Zetec ,he predicted it to be like the UK car with 6 Stack CD and possibly 6 Speed box as well as a Mondeo style body and different interior. So i am holding off until then .Has any one got an idea what they could be importing? so i can look at it online .
Cheers .

Hello all,

First time to this forum, i have been on a few others in the Land Rover comunity for a bit.

I must have passed over this section in my haste to post my first question.

First Focus, i love it, have had it since spring 06.

Only 1 bitch, it is hard to start every now and then. Very intermitently, the exhaust stinks of gas when it does fire and it idles funny after for a bit. No CEL either.

Anyone else have a problem like that? Wanting to keep her for another 50K if possible.

Going to pull and check the sparkplugs this weekend, see if they have anything to tell me.

Best for the bang mods, what are they? Not going to turn her into a race car, but would love a bit more oomph.

Thanks!

I was searching the internet and came across this site. I was looking for body kits and i actually hit a link to a forum. I'm glad I did cause I've already bought items off the site and have gained alot of knowledge just from reading the forums. I drive an 07 White ZX4 that was just recently hit by some crazy lady while it was parked. 6000+ in damage and still waiting for my baby back!

hey everyone im marco. I drive dads car for the time being. Still in school and when hes out with the fusion (2007 sel v6) the focus is all mine.
We are on our second focus (both wagons). The first one, 2002 black, died when my sister got hit head on by a drunk driver. Thank god shes fine...
These things are built pretty strong so my dad went out to get our new 2005 (60000k) beige focus.
I find it more old man looking than the 2002 (the colour, no black tints, no fog lights) but i like the 2005's front end more.
Still debating whether or not to waste some money on my dads car...

I am a Ford girl. All I have ever driven are Fords. I started with an '88 Tempo (got me through high school), then a '93 Escort LX wagon (got me through college), then a '98 Escort SE sedan (first new car), then a '02 Escape XLT 4x4 (second new car), and now I have a '04 Freestar SEL minivan (hey, I have kids), but I did get a Pioneer AVIC Z2 with Sirius for the van :) Anyway, the gas crunch has me going to test drive an '05 Focus SE ZX4 (automatic) tomorrow morning. If I like it, I will have my sixth Ford in nearly 15 years (ok I just made myself feel old saying that!). My husband (Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 with several nice mods) is skeptical of this action, but nonetheless he found this site and sent me a link. At first I was worried that it would be filled with modders who all drive stick, but so far I've seen a decent mix. This car will be the daily driver (25 miles one way to work is KILLING us on gas!), but I also wanted something fun. Can't afford a new one or I'd be all over that! I do intend to take my AVIC Z2 out of my van and put it in the Focus, though (should be alright - Focus has a double-DIN stereo) - anyone have any experience with that?

I just realized that I have a LOT of parentheticals in that paragraph, but I can't think of anything I want to delete! Oh well :)

ETA: The Focus I'm looking at tomorrow has the upgraded alloy rims, 15" wheels, cruise control, audio controls on the steering wheel - useless with my Pioneer, but oh well - power brakes/windows/doors, remote keyless entry, and tachometer. Oh, and 34,500 miles.

I drive my wife's 2000 LX from time to time when I gotta work on my Jeep. Fun little car, stick shift really helps with the 103hp SOHC...:D If we keep it long enough it needs wheels and some more power. But for the time being, my Jeep eats up my extra money for car mods...

audio controls on the steering wheel - useless with my Pioneer, but oh well

Not necessarily -- http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=118900&i=127SWIX&tp=3405&avf=N

I added one to my 07 and it works pretty well. Has a touch of lag compared to the factory stereo, but it does work. They have one specifically for Pioneer as well, that one I linked is the generic one which works most after market radios with remotes.

Hi everyone, I have lurked around here for a little while, so I decided to introduce myself.

I drive a 2007 Dark Toredore Red focus 4 sedan. It is a daily driver and it has 1 option, AC.. I am interested in some of the things I see on the site here for performance and or mileage increases.

I am in Portland, Or and I am a part time photographer (and you thought cars could be a time/money sink? Heh, try cameras and gear.) So I might be asking if any of you want to shoot your cars out there.(possibly in partial trade??? ) :)

I want to immediately do the following

-Short Throw shifter
-Rear Sway bar
-CAI with tune

Any help would be great!! [clap]

2 month old FF and i'm in the market for a few parts one of them is a svt rear wing. Not sure if it's gonna work...maybe someone can let me know. I found this site just suffing...and it's great i spend at least 2 hours here everyday. I bought a 2007 zx3 pretty much stock so not gonna do much to the engine just adding some wheels and lowering springs for now. So if anybody knows if that wing will fit without modification please let me know.

Greetings Fellow (now) Focians,

Just joined this site this week. Works out well, because I just got my first Focus this week. I had owned a Ford Tortoise for the past 12 years, until it decided to poop the bed on me at 130,000 mi. [bigcry] Guess you could say I got my money out of it, but it could be just kismet, given with gas prices the way they are now. Anyway, on to my new 'cus/Foci/Fofo:

'07 ZX4 SE
InfraRED
2.0 D-tec (best part? NO RUBBER BAND TO BREAK [headbang] )
(it's red!)
ATX
PW/PL
Stereo upgrade? (MP3 player, but not multi-disc)
Alloy wheels
(did I mention it's red?)

I've named it "Ed". Yes. Ed the Focus. Ed the Red.

Even though it's an '07, I'm not sure it could be considered a "leftover" being that it was on the used lot, with around 30K on the clock. I'm still waiting for mileage since I'm only on the first full tank.

It's a dream to drive (well d'uh, it's basically new!). I'm not really planning any mods, other than possibly things that will get more miles out of a gallon of fossil squeezin's. I welcome any and all suggestions in that category.

Anyhoo, glad to be a member of the site and a member of the FoCommunity. This looks like a site with a wealth of information and tips for more than just those looking to "tune" their 'Ci.

Already cut the lunchbox off, and painted the side moldings and mirror caps. Just doing cosmetic stuff such as drop, wheels and tint, seeing as its my commuter car. I also drive a 1987 Mustang GT, with all your basic mustang bolt ons, when its nice out. And when its nasty out i drive a 1990 Bronco on 33" mud terrains with dual exhaust. hello, my name is scott and i have just brought a 06 ZX4 and i am really hoping the Dealer will take it back! i have the "S" but i atleast want the "SE" especially for what im paying for the thing.. i am astounded that it dont have central locking and no electric windows...

on the initial test drive all i was wanting to do is see how it drove and its a fun little car to drive, i didnt even think i was gonna be given credit atall and that why i really took no notice of the other things and on the sheet of paper it said 2006 ford focus ZX4 "SE", well half way home i decided to go to taco bell and went to bush the button to open the window and ARGHHHH handle??

love the drive of it but i hate the bog standard basics i have not seen in a car for many years!! i didnt even think they still made cars this low key, and for 15000? pfft!

Hey everyone. I just joined yesterday and am looking forward to getting involved with this forum. In advertently I am driving a 2006 ZX4 ST. It is/was my wifes car but due to the distance that I have to travel to work she is now the proud owner of my 2006 F150. I have always been a sports car fan (I had an Audi TT before marrage and kids) but because of the family aspect I ended up with a truck. I must admit I love this little Focus, and I am amazed at the following and performance support for the vehicle. Anyway thanks for having me aboard and I am sure I will talk to you soon.

Hi guys,

Car shopping right now with a budget of about 7-8K. I know for sure I want a ZX3. I like the first gen design better (especially the interior), but want to get the best car for my money.

So I had a few basic newb questions (feel free to kick me to the curb if they've been answered elsewhere - I couldn't find the right combo of words in Search to answer these...)

1. Any major/common mechanical "gotchas" on the 03-04's (2.0 or 2.3) that I should watch out for? My understanding of the 05-07's is that they are pretty sound and relatively free of gremlins.

2. With the knowledge that I value handling over horsepower...

How dramatic (if any) were the quality and/or handling improvements to the second gen (05-07) models? I really prefer the 1st gen car, but like I said, I want to get the most car for my money. [:)]

Thanks a million! I hope to be the proud new owner of a ZX3 shortly and hang around here for awhile! [thumb]

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and new to the Focus. It seems there is no end to the modifications possible on the focus so I'm going to need some guidance. I'm looking forward to benefiting from your experience's. Aka, hoping not to screw up my car!!

I have a 2004 Focus SVT in Sonic Blue. It's completely stock except for the Livewire plug wires and drop in K&N filter. I like it so much I'm hesitant to change a thing! Maybe headlights...window tint....CAI....lol! I think it could escalate rapidly!

Anyway, looking forward to learning as much as possible :)

Hey my name's Cash, I've been a fanatic for a few years but I found out about the FF website just recently.

I don't know squat about cars but I figured that being a member here could broaden my knowledge.

I used to drive a '02 Fort Knox Gold Focus SE Sedan. It was my first one that I got while I was in high school and I found it very entertaining. I seriously learned something new about that car everyday that I was in it.
After a while, the car started to give in, the tires kept blowing out, the brakes went bad etc. .

I just recently got another focus. This time it's an '05 Infra-Red ZX4 ST, enough said. This car is my life! I've had it since October of '07 and I'm just now starting to make some mods to it. I'm interested in turning it into something that says "I don't care if the SVT was discontinued or not, I'm still a monster!"

Right now I'm saving up some cash, after my most recent stereo, antenna, and head/tail light cover combo purchase. I figure next I'll go with either some new rims or maybe a suspension job. I guarantee that I will be seeking you guys out for some help here in the near future!

Hey all, my name's Garret. I'm driving a 2k6 Focus ZX4 SE ATX w/ 2.0L Duratec engine. I got a great deal on this car from the dealer....SE w/ATX and dang close to fully loaded for 14k and the sticker on the thing said 17k. :D I've had it for 2 years now and I'm ready to mod it, but I don't know how far yet. I know I'm putting a Steeda SRI into it for sure, don't know about anything else yet. Maybe I'll tune it, but I dunno. Anyway, just intro to me. Oh, and thanks in advance for any help I get.

Hi everyone, I'm Susan from Michigan. I'm a first-time Focus, and Ford, owner. I just got an '08 Vapor Silver Coupe SE w/deluxe package on Friday.

I realize there are many people who don't care for the new Focus and I'll be the first to admit I can see why some people feel that way. I'm coming from being a former Saturn enthusiast and was just looking for a nice commuter car with a bit of sportiness and the Focus fit the bill for me.

I'm looking forward to spending time here at the forum! [:)]

Hello, I'm Kyle. I'm 18 years of age and recently started driving a 2000 Ford focus ZX3 Kona Edition. Its in near perfect condition (thanks to my dad for 8 years)
Its my first car and I treat it very well. I'm one of those strange guys who names cars so it only seemed fitting to name this one (Despite the fact it was the family car for 8 years and never got named) so its name is Shela.
It has 140,000 miles, paints still shiny(ish) and the interior is near mint.
She is my pride and joy ^^

But anyways, I found this site when I was looking for a tutorial on how to remove the front bumper (me and my dad plan on painting it a flat black to match the bra)

If you were wondering, yes he gave it to me, I'm not ashamed (much) to admit my first car was given to me. But he just got a new Kia Amanti a year ago, so by default I got the old one. He replaced the window which had been shattered and the tires, then let me handle the rest. (Battery, oil, tinting for the new window and new compressors for the hatch back)

So there's my story! I don't exceed the speed, nor am I reckless. the cars my most prized possession and I'm going to do my best to make it go to 12 years (end of collage) and if she makes it that far then she gets a new paint job and maybe an engine! XD

Hello everyone, My names Manny and I am from Houston,TX. I am driving a 2005 Red Ford Focus Zx4 w/ a 2.0 L. I bought it in January of 2005, I have not really done anything to it since I originally bought it for commuting purposes. I have long since made it my daily driver and just recently sold my truck and now the wife and I have a baby on the way and in stead of trading it in or whatever we have decided to have me mod it and just overall customize it the way I've wanted to for so long. I am looking for ideas and feedback.

Hi everyone!

I'm Mokona from Michigan, another newbie... to this forum and a first time Ford owner. I just got a '05 Focus ZX3 SES. And I'm so in love!

It's immaculate and well loaded, except in the stereo department.. already looking to upgrade to something more ipod friendly. And obviously looking to do a few mods here and there.... I'm in awe of the work that is shown here.

I'm having a hard time deciphering the color though. Is it common to have a color that was only listed in a different year? My paint code appears to be S1, which was only listed in the '02 Focus paintcodes.

Well, I guess I'll go back to lurking now. :)

Hello all,
I just purchased a new 2007 ZX3 S 5-Speed. I'm originally from East Texas, but I am in the Army and stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.

Bought the Focus to replace a Hyundai Elantra that I have had 3 wrecks in, and still wasn't totalled ($6,000 worth of damage this last time, and I only got $4,000 for it for trade. OUCH!!!). I wanted out of that car, and quick.

I've put over 160 miles (not including what was on the clock at the time of delivery) on my Focus (city miles) since Saturday afternoon. I just can't get enough of driving her. I'm thoroughly impressed with how fun she is to drive and the acceleration she has. I'm glad I didn't go with my brand X choice (clown car 4-door sedan from another of the big 3).

I found FF by Googleing Ford Focus Forum. [ffrocks]

Happy driving [driving],

I'm a newb to forums because of a few rude people elsewhere, but I love my Focus so I figured I would try again. I'm glad I did since I have already been helped here by some very nice and genuinely generous people.

I am on my 3rd Focus now after numerous trade-in's and have loved all of them.

A new '03 SE Silver (about 35k mi. before sold)
Used '05 SE Gold (about 35k mi. before sold)
New '05 ZXW SES Black (at about 35k mi.)

Only the black one remains and a newley purchased '05 Freestar Limited (for the 4 kids)

The pictures are not my actual cars but almost identical.[wave] [loveff]

EDITED ON MAY 4
I went to pick it up and I did not get it. It did not book out for my bank to finance it. It was only worth 7400 to them and the dealer took off as much as they could. Be careful with Capital One financing. They have very strict rules. If this were an automatic, it would have been able to be purchased due to the higher trade value. Crap!! sorry flor the false alarm. If your looking for a decent , loaded ZTS for about 8,000. it is at Tarbox Chrysler Jeep in Attleboro, MA. ( I ended up with a 2003 Pontiac Vibe)

ORIGINAL POST
Hi, I will be picking up a 2004 Silver ZTS /5 MT tommorow. It has 65,000 miles on it and they were asking 9900 dollars but took 7800. It is the last day of the month so they got a little aggressive, but I think 7800 is probably what it should be. It is a fairly loaded one with six disc cd, leather (looks like vinyl- but they said its not) heated seats, moonroof, cruise, fog lights. I don't know if it has ABS, traction control or extra airbags. It drove nice but it has a low idle and low rpm issue which they are going to fix.

It has the 2.3 liter 145 HP engine, but I don't know if it is a Duratec or PZEV. It seems like a nice sporty car. Hope I didn't pay too much.

Brindfan
04-30-2008, 10:23 PM
^^^ I think you did OK on the price. I believe your engine is a PZEV Duratec, but don't quote me. Not real sure what the pre-2005 Duratecs actually were.

If your car has ABS, there is a dash idiot "ABS" light. Turn the key to the "ON" position and check that way. T/C also has a dash light. It looks like a tire and wheel with water drops behind it. There is also a button on the center console by the gear shift knob, This is the T/C off button.

If you have side impact air bags, there will be a tag on the upper part of the front seats that says "airbag".

Oh and [welcome]

I dunno if you can see it or not but the car has meduim window tint.

sup fanatics! been snooping around the forum and classifieds for a little while now, thought it was time to finally join since i am about to be making a purchase this summer!!

im in a 07 black escape right now, but im needing to move to a focus, for fun and for economy. i have a couple options so i thought i would ask the opinions of the forum.

1.) 2008 SES black on black loaded -- i get A-plan pricing. so, roughly $16K or so after rebates. This is a smooth a$$ ride, but i will be left with no money for mods for a while

OR

2.) 2006 SES ZX3 SAP black on black loaded, 30K miles for $12K -- much more room for tuning, but less lifespan and i feel like the SAP kit might be a hinderence in winter (MIDWEST HERE). i love that body tho!

thanks for the 2 cents!! and i look forward for diving into the community

theWorst here.... a.k.a. Ed...

Bought an 08 Black Coupe S .5 Speed.. got the hubcap and steelies and base model because of plans on moddin' it.. also i despised the chrome side decorations...

so far car is stock .. cept for the dealer debadge... waiting for the strut bar to come in from steeda.. and the k&n drop in to come in from AJ-USA..

i plan on painting the grille black(body color), leaving the blue oval alone, and tinting the headlights yellow with vinyl film... installing PIAA rally fog lights... dropping it around 2 "..adding the rear sway bar. and putting on Rota Slip Streams.. can't decide between black or bronze... catback exhaust is a must... and maybe tint the rears...upgrade clutch and flywheel.. i have an SAFC2 i may or may not install maybe just use as AF guage. i know i want Cobalt guages for OIl Temp and Water temp... maybe add voltmeter somewhere.. oh and optima red top... been using them for years and years.. and never failed me... why digress?

i also want to paint calipers black and change to SS brake lines when they come out.. maybe hawk pads and ebc rotors up front too.

i hope to have the car where i like it in a year or two...

i look foward to learning a lot, and contributing alot where able to the FF community...

Hey, all! N00b here!

Picked up a 2008 Vista Blue Focus S sedan from Bob Bell Ford in Glen Burnie, MD last Tuesday. Base model, 5-speed, no options 'cept the spare tire! Thanks to all the rebates offered by Ford, it was $11,800!

My primary car is a Ford Shelby GT500 coupe (Alloy w/Tungsten stripes), but between the horrendous roads here in DC and the cost of premium, I finally convinced my wife I needed a commuter car. After looking at ALL the subcompacts, the Focus was by far the best deal - most fun to drive, and it came with A/C standard! I gotta admit, I drool with envy at the ads that show off the Sync, 'cos I'm a total gadget geek, but then I remember that I wanted to spend as little as possible.

That, and if I ever feel sad, I just hop into the Shelby and roar away! [:)]

Looking forward to expanding my Ford obsession to the Focus as well. Nice to meet y'all! [cheers]

Hey all...

Replaced my 1995 Fort Escort (124k and still running with broken A/C. Gotta have A/C in Texas). The TexasAirCheck program will give you a $3000 voucher to get your 1997 or older vehicle off the road, for a cleaner emissions vehicle, 2005 or newer.

Considered Accords, Corrollas, and Civics, new and used, but just coudn't get the price I wanted.

Acquired a family and friends x-plan discount, plus another $3000 in dealer incentives, plus the $3000 voucher from the state, not a bad deal on a new car.

Silver 4 door sedan SES, loaded, execept for leather seats and sunroof. SYNC, 5CD changer (obsolete with MP3s?), Sirrius Satellite, 16 inch allow wheels with Pirelli tires, tinted windows, spoiler.

Just about to finish the second tank of gas, 28.3 mpg the first tank, 29.0 so far on the second. My commute is 34 miles round trip in light to moderate rush hour traffic.

Searched for Ford Focus Forums and obviously this is the first site that came up!

Hi all,

I was posting on feoa.net as I had a 99 Escort, note I said "had". It blew the engine last week which really sucked. I did a Google search and found this forum, looks like lots of good stuff here.

We (my wife and I) needed another car so we ended up buying a 2008 SE coupe and we LOVE it! We got it Friday (05/09), we got a great deal too. Sticker was 16,9 and they came down four grand and yes, it's brand new. We were going to go drive a Cobalt afterwards but we fell in love w/the Focus. Our SE is vermillion red w/ebony interior, options are a/t/ abs and the spare tire. We were both very impressed w/the seats, ride, handling, quietness, and the "tight" feel of the car. It doesn't feel like an economy car to us.

I'm attaching a pic or two and signing off.

The modern 06+ Ford Focus rocks. Great road manners that leave Honda Civ begging in the dust! Sweet power band for automatics. Even better for manual. This great car ain't making the big money for the suits in Detroit which says something unique about Ford. For me? It says I paid about $5000 too much for my Honda!

Hey I'm new here. My name is Reeve and I live in Grants Pass Oregon. I just took a road trip to the bay area to pick up my 2003 Grey ZX3. I looked around for a while to find a 2.3 Zx3 with the options I wanted and finally found a perfect one. It's got just about every option I can think of it has 58k it's a 5 spd and it is in perfect condition. I got it for $7700. I like building fast turbo cars but the focus will never get a turbo. It's just a DD and I have not been able to say "fill it with regular" in a while and I like it. I don't have any big plans I need to keep myself from modding the focus too much. I am going to start with a home made cold air and a balance shaft delete. That should hold me over for a while but the Focus is way down on power compared to my other cars. My DD 1988 Thunderbird turbo coupe was a 13.7 car. My 1980 Capri RS turbo 2.3 is a 12.6 car (soon to be much faster) and I also have a 14.6 88 RX7 TurboII. I also have a 1973 Toyota Carina (for dirt and snow fun) and a 1980 Scout II for off road fun.

Hi guys, just surfed in from 502 street scene. At this time I don,t own a focus but I am looking at a Saleen that belongs to one of my teenage sons friends. The motor is hurt (Nitrous) But the rest of the car looks great. My car is a 86 Merkur XR4TI. I have been hunting for some nice rims and tires with no luck until a friend told me that my Merkur shares the same oddball 4x108 rim size with the Focus. I think The SVT's would look pretty good on my Merk.

Hello everyone. I am new to this. I have a 2007 Ford Focus ST. I want to get more performance out of it, but I am wondering if it is worth it. I have had some troubles with it since the beginning. At my first oil change, I was told and showed that the tires(front) were wearing really quickly on the outside. The alignment was way off. They realigned it and the steering wheel would not line up. I brought it back and they tested it again. The alignment was on, but the steering wheel was still off. When Im on the highway, the front end shakes at 60 mph and above. There is also a rattle in the front end, especially when im turning to the left at 50 mph and above. Ford keeps telling me there is nothing wrong. The engine also idles irratically more than not(there are some times that it idles fine). Excelleration is sluggish, and i feel a skip or sputter(like its miss-firing or not getting gas). I also feel this skip when coasting in gear(doesnt matter which gear). Ford tells me that the idle is typical, and does not feel the skip or sluggishness. Has anyone else had any of these problems? Please Help! Its to bad, because when it is running good, its fun to drive!

When my 1997 Taurus died in 2007, I replaced it with a 2004 Focus SE sedan, to share with my younger daughter, then 16. I wanted a Focus because it was agile and peppy (with the larger engine), and its seat height offered a more commanding view than most small cars. Above all, at 66.7 inches, it was just about the narrowest car out there, a feature that would let us easily thread in and out of tight parking spaces. Moreover, where we live, the roads are single-lane (each way) for about 10 miles in every direction. With a narrow car, we could drive around a bicyclist without crossing the yellow line into opposing traffic.

I had done my research and set firm criteria. For convenience, it had to be an automatic. For safety, it had to be white with side air bags. For looks (her requirement), it had to be a sedan. For thrills (for me), it had to have the 2.3L engine. As luck would have it, I found such a Focus at a dealer about 80 miles from my home and drove it home for $7,000 (with 84,000 miles on it).

In short order:
1. My daughter claimed it as her own.
2. Her schoolmates began driving Focuses.
3. Her college sister cried, "No fair! Why do I have to drive a stupid 1998 Oldsmobile!"
4. I began walking to the bus stop, bussing to the train, and riding the train to work. The Olds lives in our driveway, but come September the older daughter will keep it on campus. She wants the Focus ("It's my turn, and I need a small car to park," she reasoned), but her mother feels that it's "too good a car" to keep there; that someone will try to break in or steal it. (A Focus sedan?)

Anyway, I've begun exploring these forums, hoping my wife will see fit to let me buy a second used Focus, for the older daughter, either now or next year. My wife says I should wait; that if our younger one ends up as her sister did--living on-campus at the local university--she won't need a car there. I know she's right, but it breaks my heart to have to have the older one driving around in our Oldsmobile "boat."

Meanwhile, I probably drive a Focus less than anyone on these forums. In fact, I barely drive the Olds; June is 5 days away, and this year I've filled up with gasoline twice.

Hey all!

I've just acquired my first Ford; A black 2000 Ford Focus SE with 43K miles. :D

The car has a few issues with it, which I'm planning on opening a new thread for help. But I will post a few details here.

*back passenger quarter window replaced. Damaged somehow.
*Needs truck lock fixed/replaced.
*Replacing air filter, and gas cap
*Need new tags, lic plates etc..
*Weird issue with radio. Turn on, switch stations and it powers off... then powers back on...

I'm planning adding/moding:
*tinting all windows I can.
*new tires/rims
*Superbright white headlights.
*debadging car
*New deck and speakers

Any suggestions, or recommendations for anything else? I'm a New ford owner, so the whole ford aspect is a little new to me. I've had BMW's, GMC's. chev's and honda's, so this is not my first car, but def gonna be a new learning experience.

My cousin works at a Ford dealership, so I'm already planning on taking the car to his shop to get the window, truck lock, and a recall item fixed. Anyone know how much this should run me?

Thanks all for your help, and having this place for us! [thumb]

new to the forum and have been driving an 06 zx4 since late 05...not many complaints...paint has started to chip a little...haven't done any mods, sounds cool...but i don't know enough about cars for that lol...i've read some posts and a lot of the language sounds like gibberish to me...i think the redesigned 09 looks way better than my 06...don't know if i'll purchase another focus (or another ford for that matter)...but i enjoy riding in my car...great to take a trip and have it look like the gas needle didn't even move...getting close to 60k in miles (lots of highway driving) as i was affected and moved around by hurricane katrina...other cars i'm interested in include audi (r8, tt), nissan (z, maxima), hyundai (sonata) and a few others...

hope i can find my way around all this info and come out smarter than i went in...[thumb]

New here as well! I drive a '05 ST. Got it for a song; $9400 with under 29k on the clock. Thank goodness for someone not paying their car note and getting it repo'd. I came to this from my Merc Tracer LTS (the "ST" of Tracers) after driving a Focus SE for 3 days while my wife's Taurus was getting head gaskets. I loved the Focus, but knew if there was a more performance minded and rarer submodel that's what I'd have to have. After looking at the prices of ZX5 SVTFs I decided to set my sights a little lower since low mileage was also important. It took several days to find the perfect one. The only thing it's missing is the moonroof, but it does have the heated seats, mirrors, and the Sony audiophile system. Oh, and brand new Potenza RE92s. (Too bad the dealer didn't research tires first. This is the most expensive tire that Tire Rack sells for this car and the ratings are terrible on it. I wish he'd just put the Pirellis back on. Another similarity of the LTS; both came with Pirellis from the factory....)

I came upon this site while looking around for the biggest Focus club (and because any time I tried to search google for something about the Focus it'd come up linked to this site) on the 'Net. I've been a fairly active member on boards for the Escort/Tracer and Taurus for over a decade; I'm a car guy.

I bought this as a dual purpose DD and AutoX warrior. Again, why I chose the ST specifically. As such, it'll be a few years before I start doing anything under the hood as I want to start in stock class with this car. Plus, why risk the warranty? After 2010 though....who knows?
One the outside of the car, there's not much I would change. I kind of like the European ST badge though and am kicking around the idea of making a change to that. Maybe clear corners with amber bulbs. I've had clears on the LTS for years with blue/ultra-white bulbs and nobody has ever said a word. I really like the SAP spoiler but I'd like to see it on a silver car first. My general rule with this car is that if it's not made by Ford or specifically for Ford (Cosworth, i.e.), it's not going on the car.

The interior needs help though. The SVT seats are comfortable and look awesome and there are minor differences between this interior and the loaner I had, but not very pronounced for the best of breed for this model. I'm currently looking at picking up some chrome inside door handles from the UK and the HVAC surround (silver) from the SVT. Other than that maybe a set of UK ST floor mats is about all I've found. I want to keep it unique, but stick with stock parts.

This is an awesome SITE!

Hello, my names Ian, i'm lifelong Ford nut (following in my fathers tyre tracks) and over the past few years i've occasionely lurked on this forum and i thought i'd join, I must admit i don't actually own a Focus, but i own the Focus' (slightly) smaller brother, a 2006 Ford Fiesta ST, however my dad owns a 2002 Focus ST170, which i occasionely get to drive. I had planned to upgrade to an '08 Focus ST3 once i'd finished paying for the Fiesta, but then i saw the '09 Focus RS, needless to say i've pretty much set my sights on getting one (if all things go well). Roll on 2009! [:D]

Just like to say hi to everyone, just picked up a new focus 2008 4 door. I never was into small cars but I was always a fan of tuners. I always was into Z28s and Vetts, I had a 95 Z28 that was my lil race car but got rid of it.
I also was into Bikes, I just sold My 05 R1 that was lowered and extended 6 inch over with all the goodies, Nos, Shift kit the whole 9. My bike ran a 9.50 at 150 on the track with a street tire.
This is my 1st time with a smaller car and the 1st things I will be doing is tinting the windows, putting on a wet kit and adding some 18s to this baby. next step will be the exhaust on this baby.
again I dont know to know to much about the Focus game but I am willing to learn what ever you guys are willing to teach me about the whole thing. Thanks

Tried to post in general chat with no luck, we'll see how this goes :)

Hey, just picked up an '03 ZTS to replace my Jeep XJ. Really loved the Jeep forums and hoping i can find the same source of info and camaraderie here. To be honest i wasn't real happy to sell the Jeep, but gas prices got high enough that it made economic sense to buy a smaller car.

As for the car, here's what i got: Silver 2003 ZTS w/63k mi. 5sp, leather, blau stereo, moonroof, heated seats, cruise, fogs and a whole bunch of stuff i can't imagine i'll ever find a use for. It's a huge change from the XJ. Who knew that four wheel IS handled so much better than solid axles [driving]. I am loving having a stick again since it's been a long time, and i've been pleasantly suprised at how peppy the 4cyl is around town. I know it will take me a long time to get used to not having the I6 anymore, but i'm more than sure that doubling my gas mileage will make up for it.

So, anything particular to that year and trim level i should watch out for? The windshield wiper relay is starting to go (they won't return home properly), and the tires will need replacing in about 10k mi, but other than that everything seems great. I'm not much of a modder, but i'll probably replace the head unit with something i can plug my mp3 player into, so i'm sure i'll have questions for the audio guys and whatnot.

One important question before i go: OEM tire size is 205/50/R16, is it going to be safe to go to 205/55/R16 without any problems? At that size i can find the much cheaper passenger type tires instead of performance ones, and since this is a commuter car you get the idea. I know with the Jeep even seemingly minor tire changes can make drasting changes with rubbing and whatnot, but i have no idea with these babies, thanks.

Hey guys, I've had my focus for a while, and stumbled upon this site when looking for reviews on parts. So far this has been really good on my wallet! Saved me from bad buys, and found some good deals.

Focus ZX3, Dynomax exhaust, cold air intake... (I just started, there is more to come, just gotta wait for my next paycheck)

haaaay guys im newbie here..
not used to being a newbie on a forum..lol

anyway i just traded in my old pos 02 pont g/p gt with 78k with a lot of problems for a 08 focus se.. to bad i wont start paying for the focus for a year as i was upside down on the pontiac..lol.. but hey 2 less cylinders and more pep..

anyway here she is.. its got 228 miles on her now bought her with 9..
its nothing fancy just a se as i already have 2 playtoys as it is..
i wanted a stick but only was able to find htem in base model coupes which i did not like or fully loaded ones which i didnt want.

i do not have cruise sync fogs or sirius. as i wasnt willing to spend another 5k for that.

the list of things needed to do..
front lighbar in- check.
rear lights in- check..
-better mounting of rear lights.. get to that later..

get rid of chrome grill for a non chrome (i hate chrome) bake the lights to get rid of the chrome in them.

get rid of my startmate and hook up sirius regularly so the button works. ( please tell me i dont have to spend 500 bucks at the dealer when i have 2 aftermarket kenwood modules and 2 antennas sitting here and tell me i just need a adaptor harness)

also like to get the factory bezels for the fogs and put in fogs (im not spending 600 for fogs)

need to wire in my wigwags etc

figure a way to put about 3 rockerswitches in somewhere. where i dont have to cut anything and keep it as factory as i can...

thats about it on mods maby more later i dont know.. like stated earlier i already have 2 play toys (2 jeeps neither street legal) one on 39s one on 35s.. very little jeep left. may do a post on those at some point if any intrest...

and im sure some of you will ask whats up with the lightbars and wigwags..
-im a voulenteer emergency search and rescue/ ems. (basicly vol firefighter without the heat and fire part) get into that later maby.

anyway pix.

Okay, so I was born and raised in Hawaii (O'ahu) and was drifting long before anyone even knew what to call it in such fly rides as the Datsun b210 and Toyotas Trueno ae86. Some would say My environment made Me a fan of 'rice buckets' from the get-go. And to be honest, when I bought this '03 SE I was looking for a civic or prelude. I gotta say though that I've always liked the Focus, ever since I worked for a car rental company in 1999 that had these SE models in Their fleet. Anyway, I got a call to go look at this. It was a repo and had a few coolant and suspension problems, couple of sheared wheel studs, generally mild stuff... I talked the repo man down to $2500.00 cash, took it home about 3 months ago, and have put new Bridgestone Potenza g019grid 205 55 on the stock rims, replaced front left axle, new brakes(drums, rotors everything new) new plugs/wires, a short ram air and a big fat muffler. I dont think I'm over My love of rice, but as a Focu driver I am quickly finding Myself looking over at My neighbors' 08 Civic SI thinking, 'I can take Him, no prob!' I havent found out yet... but Im strangely optimistic. [race]

On the 3rd of July I will sign the paperwork for my wifes and my car. We was looking for a few weeks on something small, gas sipping, tree hugging, save the Fuel bill type of car and a 5 speed, 2006 Ford Focus ZX3 SE in black with 44K pretty much fell into our lap for a great low low price.
I have never been a Ford fan, in fact this is the first Ford I will have ever owned in my 37 years of life. For the past few days I have been reading, learning and lurking. I really don;t know much about this type of car. When my wife told me about the car, I looked around on the web about what others thought about it. Everything I read so far was either the car will work great with minimal problems or in the first year and 15K of the car it will just fall apart.
After I get the car and clean it up a bit, I'll post up some pictures of it. It is stock 'cept for the "fart can" type exhaust the young man installed on it that we got it from.
I have been around cars all my life and currently my wife and I each own a 2006 Dodge Charger (His and Hers), we have a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4, a 2003 Harley Wide Glide, 3 Yamaha dirt bikes and a Suzuki quad.
Here are some links to our cars, truck, and bikes.

I've been lurking here for awhile, decided to make an account. I was handed down a 2004 Ford Focus LX (2.0 SPI) earlier this year. I've done a couple basic things. I changed out the air filter for a K&N. Put full synth oil in also. I have yet to get my nicer stereo from my prevous car. I have my car on cardomain (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3092209). The pictures on there don't show the wheel covers I just put on.

I'm not mechanically inclined, but I plan to try. I'm thinking about entering in a few shows. I've favorited a few of the how-tos for some simple/cheap mods. I'm a college student, so money's tight, but I'd like to make it into something more than it is.

Hi my name's Danielle, I live in southwest FL. About a week and a half ago I purchased my first new car...kind of. I got a great deal on an 08 Focus. It's so awesome. I suppose it was a demo car or a company car for a while because it wasn't what you call "brand new". Anyway, I bought it as a used car because it only had 1600 miles on it! So that dropped the price alot, because the interior is all leather and if I got my same car brand new it would have been 3-4K more. I've got all the pros of an SES like sync, monocromatic door handles, 6 CD changer and the list goes on. I still can't believe that I found a new car for the price of a used one. AWESOME :]

Hello everyone. I’m fairly new to the Focus scene but, by lurking in these forums for the past few months, I’ve managed too learn a lot about my Foci and have become quite the Focus Fanatic thanks to all of the very knowledgeable people in this fantastic site. [ffrocks]
I drive a 2008 Vista Blue Coupe SES, which is stock for the time being, and I love it. I do have a set of Enkei RS7’s just waiting to be mounted on my ride, just as soon as I get some tires to go with them. So yeah, I hope everyone doesn’t mind me asking a question from time to time about my ride. Any and all help in my quest to really make my ride my own, will be greatly appreciated. [:)]

Well all of you new comers!!! If you have specific ?'s try using the search engine first with key words. Look for newer dated posts as they will be more current info. Also please feel free to give your .02 in the 09 ford focus threads, Ford has asked for our opinion.

If after days of long searching with no luck ( lol@ days) then PM me your question or make a new thread in the appropriate area.

Hi all,

I will pick up my new 2008 focus in a few hours. [clap] I am giddy with excitement. I purchased a Vista Blue Focus with Stone leather seats (none were available this late in the year with heated seats) and a 6CD audio system (Again none were available with Audiophile). It hase Anti-lock breaks with traction control and a moon roof (an option that I wan't looking for but didn't really care about either).

I think the first thing I plan to do is upgrade the speakers and perhaps add an under seat powered sub. So any though on good drop in replacement speakers will be welcome. Also, I plan to do the grounding mod.

I have been trolling the board for about 2 weeks now to help me make the decision to buy, and I have to say you guys are very helpful and your high praise for the Focus really helped me make the decision to buy. Glad to be here!

A powered sub that I was looking at one time is made by infinity. It is the bass link model. My friend had one in his subcompact and it fill the space verynice, and added some boom boom too.

Hi Focus Fanatics, [wave]

Newbie here and excited about joining this online community. After buying imports for over 20 years, I'm ready to come home. I come from a family that purchased Ford products exclusively--the idea of owning anything else was never entertained. I broke away from tradition however; I have never owned anything by one of the 'Big Three'. Current owner of an '05 Corolla and bored to the point of tears. Good car, but unrewarding to drive.

I really do think the 2008 Focus--coupe and sedan--are awesome! For me, it was love at first sight. My tentative plan is to purchase the '09 when they arrive at dealerships (most likely the sedan).

I hope to learn a great deal prior to purchase from FF! I admit to having some fear about reliability of Ford products, and it's my hope that you'll be able to dispel any fears or myths (and there's a lot of them out there) so that my purchase will be both a 'done deal' and one that I'll consider a wise choice long after the newness of the car has worn off. Thanks for rolling out the welcome mat! [:)]

Welcome to the Forums, you will love it here. As far as help goes there is always at least one person who has already done what ever you will be trying to do. So far none of my questions have gone unanwsered.

As far as Buying your 09 focus if you can wait about 3 months i would recommend you custom order your car the way you want it without all the stuff you don't. I know they already have 09 fusions and mustangs so it may not be to early to order yours. That way you have the first one around[8D]

Hey, thanks! There's a level of enthusiasm here @ FF that's contagious. I've not seen this degree of excitement in other forums I've visited.

I appreciate the advice regarding the new car purchase. I'd be content with an '08 if I located one with very low miles and the options I want. Then again, the new car experience all over again might be just the thing I need given that it's a Focus. Either way, I'm stoked about this car. There are some great pics of the current model in the gallery...I was up later than usual last night just admiring. Glad I bought my Toyota after all because in comparing the two, it intensifies the lust I have for Ford's product.

Very cool of you to send out your welcome and maybe our paths will cross again here on the forums.[driving]

Hi fellow fanatics!
So many of us are meeting on these pages, great vibe! I'm Guillaume and I lived in Europe for most of my life and enjoyed the twisty roads and the rally cars tradition.
I found FF on the web looking for SVT reviews, critics etc..all I found just confirmed what I already knew deep inside: an affordable little bomber who likes to play the way I do.

I tested my first focus today, 04' sonic blue. It has 98k miles on it, freeway it seems, asking $8,995 (really negotiable for cash buyer, offering 6k?). A brand new clutch is the only sign of maintenance provided. Rides smooth, no leak, no weird noises. Engine check light is on though. now on the lot for about a month.
Anyone would like to share their experience/judgment on reliability, whether or not too be worried by high mileage? I read about bearings, engine surge, clutch, overall quality.
If you know a post that can help, thanks for redirecting me.
Did I mention I loved the ride?
Thanks,
G[driving]

I got myself a CD Silver SVT 3-door with just a hair under 50k on it and the thing is a blast to drive. Up until now I've just been doing my own oil changes but this car has totally sparked my interest in cars that I knew was there all along. Where else are you going to find a car thats fast, handles great, gets good gas mileage, and can fit my mountain bike or set of drums in the back?! Well, my escort could do it too, actually, except for the whole being fast part. [:)] Glad to be part of the community!

Hi, I found this site by accident. Just looking for info. I have a 2004 Ford Focus, 4 door ZTS(I think that is the order) Love the car but I have had the control panel replaced under warranty, transmission repaired under warranty and now have to pick it up tomorrow with another transmission repair. I'm supposed to pay a $100.00 deductable but I don't want to since I'm retired and on a very fixed income. I don't have the $100.00 and would have to borrow the money. I think they should eat that $100.00 because the trans was bad from the begining. Anyone else have trouble with there 2004 FF. I was hoping this would be the last car I would buy. Also It won't be paid for until Aug 2009 and the powerchain warranty is up Feb 2009. Wish I could work on my own car but I'm an old grandma. Over my lifetiime I have had 5 brand new Fords. This is the only one I have had trouble with. Go figure...70 years old with a lemon. Wonder if it was built on Monday or Friday. I just hope Ford doesn't mess with me.

I'm new here, but I'm not a new Focus owner. I own a 2003 Focus sedan, and it's the best car I've ever owned! Nothing has the mix of performance, fuel economy, and practicality that this car has. Unfortunately, it has an automatic trans.; I got it used, so I couldn't equip it the way I like. Still, best car I've ever owned...

I found this site by doing a search. I have questions about my car, and I figured a place like this had to exist. They exist for motorcycle owners (I own a Kawi W650, and I owned a ZRX1100 too), and they're good resources if you're a bike owner. I figured as popular a car that the Focus is would have a huge online community, and I was right...

Hi all. Even though I've been a member here since '03, the majority of my time has been on FJ since a lot of the sites, etc are on the West Coast where I live. I was a member there since '01, but I've just grown tired of all the bad attitudes, name calling, belittling and general disrespect for one another, so I am going to be on FF now. I have a lot of friends on FJ and they will always be my friends, but the other stuff I can do without. I currently own an '03 Focus SVTF in CD Silver and have 132,000 original miles on her w/COOL-FLO intake, BORLA exhaust, STEEDA sts, MSD ignition, PREDATOR tune by FOCUS-POWER, 65mm throttle body & 2 pc UDP by FOCUS CENTRAL. It is my 2nd Focus in a row, my previous one was an '00 ZTS. By profession, I'm a 911 dispatcher/paramedic and I live in San Dimas, CA. I was going to trade in my SVTF and buy a new '09 coupe, but have decided that I will probably just hang on to what I have for the time being anyway. I hope to be able to fit in here and contribute what little I can so please say hi. -Cliff

My name is Jackie (as in Jackie Chan, Jackie Gleason, Jackie Robinson).
I drive a 1994 Buick Roadmaster with Crager S/S Wheels and Magnaflow exhaust. It has 213,000 miles.

I have decided to sell my Roadmaster and get a Focus Wagon. Can anyone tell me how the ZTW and ZXW differ?

I joined escape-central when I got my '05 Escape and got so much out of the help and info. the gang gave that I was looking for the same when I bought my Wife's '08 SES. I have to say that most of you give some really good advice and seem to be very knowledgeable about Focii! I really appreciate all of you and FF!

Good morning all,
Yesterday we (my son & I) bought an '05 ZX3. It,s blue, not Sonic blue or dark blue but a medium blue, 5 speed manual xmission, 45,525 miles, it's totally stock and will most likely stay that way. Tires will be replaced soon with Falkin's and the only other change will be the oil every 3k miles or so. Glad to be part of this forum.

well, guess I need to do this and get it outa the way... Currently I'm driving an accent with tranny issues. It's great on gas but, pick up and of course the tranny is a major problem right now. The same place I got it has a 2K ZX3 that I'm looking into so, I should be in it Tuesday if everything work out right. Just doing some research and trying to get as much info as I can on that year model. Already looked at it, started it and it runs good. Gonna test drive it tuesday. It's a 5 speed and has 109K miles on it. It's black and looks fair for the year. I'm a modder from the Kia side of the house but, I had fords b4 I had Kias. Anyway, that's a little about me and who I iz.. [:D]

That's right, I'm in the middle of buying my 05 pitch black Focus. It's the super base model, which I'm fine with since it'll be lighter, but here is a few things about me.

I'm in Austin, Texas, and I'm in a band called "The Banner Year" in which I play drums.

I work as an assistant designer (for now, should be getting rid of the assistant title in not too long) at a small advertising company here in town.

So here are my plans for this vehicle

First of all, it's got steel wheels, which have got to go. I've been looking for a set of wheels to put on there. Preferably 17 x 7 ish (SVT size) and under 20 lbs. I NEED to do this this week because of state inspection, so if anyone knows of anyone selling a decent set of wheels or where I can get a good deal let me know

Now, on to the other stuff planned:
Cold air
Full exhaust (headers back)
Tein S.S. suspension with EDFC
(attempt) dry sump conversion
big bore throttle body
LSD conversion
SVT facia
front splitter
rear disc brake conversion
Stage 2 ish clutch (i might go higher...)
Lightened flywheel
um... that's everything off the top of my head.

The goal is to have somewhere around 250 hp.
I'm not looking to build the fastest focus ever, but I am looking to build a car that I can drive every day, get decent gas mileage and still enjoy on those windy backroads that the SVTs do so well on.

My younger brother has an 03 SVT, and my first goal is really to build a car that will outrun the SVT and any other car in that market (Civic Si's and such).

First thing I'm doing today is putting in spark plugs. I would put in an oil catch but I need to buy drum heads. They cost about the same, but the band takes priority this time around. hahaha.

I'd love to hear any tips and suggestions, so don't be shy to let me know what you think of my plan and if I'm missing anything.

Thanks a ton guys! I'm glad to be a part of this!

oh yeah, that's just what I know for sure I'm going to be doing. I'm still looking over how to get the rest of the power I need... I just have to find what i want to compromise...

I'm thinking to help get that power about taking out the rev limiter, adding some extra oil coolers and letting her red-line around 8500 rpm... Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Hey crew,

I'm a writer based in Texas, and I just reviewed an '08 Focus sedan. I guess the first Focus was so good, that it was hard to review the new model without the old one in the back of my mind. :)

I think the review could be pretty helpful to first-gen Focus owners who have questions about the new one. Would it be okay to post a link to the video review somewhere, and where should I do it? I'm curious to hear opinions about what I got wrong, what I got right, and what I missed entirely in my review.

Glad to be here. :)

Post in the performance chat section about that... your going to have to be FIed (forced injection: turbo or supercharger) before you can get close to that.. They sould be able to help you out

Hey guys..
Just thought I would introduce myself. I kind of fell into a 2002 Focus SE recently. I had an old '96 GMC Sonoma that has a dying engine.. Instead of me getting a new car (I'm a sophomore in college studying mechanical engineering) My dad went out and got an rx-7 and I ended up with his little ol' Focus. I have just been looking around in here getting some ideas on what people do to their cars.

No major plans for it thus far (school kills my wallet), I need to get it tinted..Maybe some headlights or something!

Hey whats up my names Ryan and I just got an 08 vista blue Focus SES Coupe w/a five speed. This is my 4th car.I traded in my 05 Nissan pathfinder LE for it b/c of the gas and it was getting worn out.I live in Chattanooga but I had to drive all the way to nashville to get the focus I wanted.i specifically wanted an 08 2 door w/a 5 speed b/c all Ive driven is manuals and I wanted a vista blue one.My local dealer wouldnt order me one or transfer it so I just drove up to nashville to get it.My first car was an 06 Mazda miata 3rd gen limited that I traded in for an 06 Mazdaspeed6.I had the mazdaspeed for a couple months till my dad passed away and I had to give it back to Mazda and i ended up getting his pathfinder.I mainly got the focus b/c of the gas milage and rebates and its cheap to run.So far ive only done some cheap cosmetic stuff to it but Im plannning on putting new rims on soon and getting the windows tinted. This is my first ford so I hope it doesnt let me down.[:)]

Hey Focus Fanatics! Name's Eric and I drive a Silver 2002 Mach Audio edition ZTS (I just bought it this past Saturday!)

I just kinda stumbled across Focus Fanatics when I googled my car and found this article (http://www.focusfanatics.com/news/view.asp?linkid=296). I just found a FoFo in great condition with awesome features and only 50k miles... didn't know it was a rare-ish special edition!

I don't really have plans to mod my car, but it's cool to meet other FoFo owners, and to see so many sweet tricked out FoFo's, lol. So it's great to be here!

I've been a FF member for a little over a month now. I drive a yellow 2005 ZX3. 5 spd. manual. It's the base edition though so there are no power windows or power locks. You get used to it though. I found the site when I was searching through google one night. I previously had an '02 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V that broke down on me so I got my focus instead. I was a member of a Spec V discussion forum so I decided to try it out with my focus. I joined just to chat and maybe get some questions answered. One question I do have whould be: where is a good place to start with minor mods to a focus? I was thinking a CAF and catback exhaust but is there anything else you guys would recommend?
