Well for one reason or another I decided to open her up yesterday, and I had it up to 120 in 4th til I let off, now i do not know if i was at redline or near as I was looking at the road and speedo, it got there fairly quick ( not like my cobra :) )

I didnt have my camera so take it for what its worth. ps handled like my bros SVT at that speed.

Well, since you have an ST, they must not have a speed limiter on your car.

Most of us, besides the SVTF have a speed limiter of 108mph.

HHmm that's odd that they don't have a speed limiter. Wish I didn't have mine but it isn't worth it to buy the chip.

i doubt that there is NO speed limiter. i think by law the car companies HAVE to put a speed governor on. even the SVT has one but its set at like 148. and i didnt even know they were selling the ST's yet. i know 05's are on sale but i thought the ST was the "performance" version and not on sale yet. either way...i doubt that ford would make a car that could go faster than the SVT and not have a speed limiter at all for that matter [confused]

Well, it doesn't have the 108mph speed governer that the stock 2.3L PZEV and 2.0L Zetec's have.

I wouldn't doubt that Ford put the speed limiter high as 148mph on the ST since the ST is the new performance Focus.

Does the ST come with Z rated tires ?

No they are the same as the ZX4, ZX5 tires, Pirelli P6's 205/55R16 V rated

On the Ford website, it states:
"P205/50Rx16 all-season (PIRELLI) (standard on SES and ST models)

How do you know the rating of the tire ?

I sell them. I did screwup on the 55 part, you're right about the 50series

This might give some insight what the speed limiter is set to on the ST.

Top speed for the ST is 173, and can be reached in 4th gear at 24,000 rpms.

V rated is good for 240km/h or 150mph

Let me shed a little on this matter, since I OWN A 05 ST. And I work at Wayne Assembly

Tires are 205 50 R16 H rated Pirelli P6. H rated meaning 130mph.

I have not hit the speed limiter ( if there even is one i will ask) I stopped at 120, for my own reasons.

I am not lying I have no reason to lie. Just sharing info. Now Some of you may not know this but the SVT Focus is no more. The ST ( street Tuned) is the new Hi end hi performacne Focus in the states. At least for 2005. I happen to like the interior ( reason I got it instead of a 2004 SVT 5-door) ( have kids).

I am just a simple minded sales guy who believed one of his parts managers. I got a nail in my side wall and had to replace the tire, he told me it was v-rated. SVTMAN74 is right they are h rated

holy shit! I went 125 in my svt focus the other day and i posted a thred on it... i had my gear in 6th gear.....I shouldve put in in 5th and then id be going about 134-40mph!

i do believe the svt has an edge on the st... at least on the exhaust system...and wight wise... but i still think the st is a nice car
