wow so much to say, well thank you for everything that everyone has helped me with.

So I purchased that red foci, but at the last second found another car :D

I fell in love, I didn't want the sedan. Backed out.

and I ended up with the car of my dreams :D

so I have a

2005 Ford Focus Se Hatchback Liquid Grey :D

Sorry I do not have pictures.. I will soon

I know everyone always asks dumb questions but I really do need opinions I am verrrry picky and I want everything to be perfect.

Christmas is arriving, and I will be recieving money for my car.

My thing is, I like a lot of my stuff to be clean, and nice something to make you go wow thats cool.

so I am not rich, so money is somewhat obtainable but im not flowing with cash. here is my list in priority level because I can't just go all out.

First off I want to freshen it up with a tint cause there isn't any tinting at all. so I Want* a limo tint in all the windows its legal and the darkest I can go legally in the front 2 windows.. I am geussing 150.00?

then Rims and tires, I want some rims like chrome, with the black spokes and some Nice low profile tires. I do not know anything about sizes etc. so help would be nice :D

then heres a major dilemma

I want a system of course.. but here goes.

I also want a dvd player in there.. relatively cheap

has anyone ever put a fold down on the roof so the rear passengers can see it?

I was looking at http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=170450&i=077RM850W&tp=77
but then again it looks way too cheap idk any suggestions.. like maybe refurbished or something

I was thinking in dash but the screen seems a little small?

so I am looking to spend no more than a grand on my system but want bang for my buck.

and last but not least

exhaust w/ headers

cai

just the basic mods nothing to extreme :D

any help would be AWESOME

THANK YOU[popcorn]

ok go here www.tintlaws.com they have what legal in your state

if your planning a drop i wouldt go any higher than 18" wheels. but if you stay stock height you can rol lon some 19" wheels for dubbage action (had a set on my car, they were cool but you feel every imperfection in the road, that and youll need a 215-35-19 tire)
that dvd unit looks pretty good. but i would put a couple of alpine monitors in the headrests and then get a hu that can play dvds. much cooler and more stealth (cops dont like dvd systems that fold down they say it obstrcut the view or some lame shit)

as for spending a grand, try like 2,000 for a great system you'll never have to change. after all is said and done (including the monitors) you can go mtx wit htheir custom fit thunderform enclosure with a 12 or jl audio with a 10" in their enclosure both go on the drivers side of the trunk and gve you great thump without losing trunkspace. then get a great amp and change out the door and side speakers for components. kenwood has a great componente set with a passive crossover built i ntaht fits the stock focus hole and is by far the easies way to upgrade the soud over stock. then the hu and monitors next. and finally the sub and amp. remember with audio you dont have to do it all right away so you can take your time and get it just right.

Skip the DVD setup and you can do a FULL system thatll bang the shit out of things and sound great for 600-800 bucks.

No idea why people put DVD players in small cars. Its so beyond pointless.

I wouldn't call it beyond pointless at all. The touchscreen DVD systems provide much more than just DVD playback. Any of them worth having will have iPod, Sat radio and MP3 playback at a minimum. The larger color screen provides much better feedback and display capabilities than a regular head unit screen can. Once you've used a system like this on a daily basis, nothing else compares.

You can save some money on your system by looking at factory refurbished equipment. These tend to have a limited warranty and can save you some big bucks. Also look for model changes. If you kind find the previous model in stock or at a close out web site like overstock.com or newegg.com that could save you some money too.

Yes, i understand that. But lets face it, MP3 playback? Sat radio? Ipods? Um, hi welcome to 2007 where every headunit has that stuff or the ability to use it.

Only thing a touch screen is good for, Carputer, or Nav.

And were talking about a focus. Small car that most people arnt going to be taking the "family" on a road trip that requires a SCREEN for the back seat.

I would much rather have a viewable playlist and an easily readable full-color display than a green dot-matrix display. The OEM systems are still lacking and the single-din replacement units just don't have the screen real-estate to display the info nearly as well or functional as a good aftermarket DVD system can. Not to mention that bluetooth is also now becoming standard on aftermarket "Multi-media" units. Having the ability is one thing, making it more useful is another. You could display your computer info on a 2 in screen but would you want to? You are also making a lot of wrong assumptions. Why wouldn't someone who owns a Focus put kids in the back seat? Are you kidding me about this? Just because you don't or won't doesn't mean anything at all.

So I guess the fact that it's what he wants has no relevance in the matter. Why put wheels on your car the factory ones are fine? Why lower a car the stock ride height is fine? Hell lets just stop modding cars all together because they function just fine from the factory.

No because i wouldnt want my kids in the back of a ZX3 when it crashed. But thats just me.

Frankly, he can do whatever. But spending the extra huge coin on something you cant use while driving is dumb.

Visible playlist. FFS people actually still use playlists? MP3 players are to the point you can put years of music on them. Hit random and drive O_o

Yep, totally out of context. Were talking about http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=170450&i=077RM850W&tp=77
Thats an overhead monitor.

In a focus? In a ZX3? Hi, this is reality.
Its useless.

No thats your opinion, which it seems you have a hard time separating from fact.

But spending the extra huge coin on something you cant use while driving is dumb.

Calling peoples ideas dumb isn't going to get you very far.

You are seriously misleading yourself if you think your opinions are the only opinions and the best for everyone. You have ideas that YOU THINK are the best. I don't see too many people agreeing with your opinions.

As far as your comments about the playlists and other features of a Multimedia system, I find them quite juvenile. I have an iPod with 7843 songs on it. Do you honestly think I want to hear all the different genres and artists in a random fashion? Give me a break already. Why would I want a radio that was designed in the dark ages when there are many modern and advanced options that offer the things that I LIKE? Why don't you go back to a black and white TV with vacuum tubes and rotary dials?

^^^ burn!!!
i suggested the headrest monitors becuase they are easier on the neck as well. and you dont have to worry about not seeing behind you. i was enjoying a dvd on a road trip in my buddies jeta and we got pulled over and had to turn it off becuse he said it blocked tim's rearward vision. si it was off for like 15 min. then i fired up the ps2. if it wasnt for those i probably would have just fallen asleep

I just had a dvd hu installed in my Focus; it was something I had won ~2 years ago. I would never purchase one myself just because they're way out of my price range. But IMO it is the best stereo I've ever had - and I've had probably 10 or more different stereos in other cars. My dvd hu offers me complete system adjustability, true 5.1 surround for movies, Ipod interface, Sirius hookup, TV tuner and it looks cool too.

And Django, if you don't like dvd headunits then don't get one! But theres no need to insult other people just because they don't follow you like mindless drones.

But I think what cr00sh has listed is just a screen, he needs a dvd player too.

cr00sh - heres an idea for a system, all available through Crutchfield:
MTX Thunderform (with 12" sub) - $350
Polk/MOMO MMC460 (4x6 plate) - $200 ($100 per set)
Infinity Reference 5350a (5-channel amp) - $350
Streetwires 4-gauge wiring kit w/ patch cable - $110
Valor ITS-702W indash dvd/cd hu - $400
Total - $1,410

A little more than you originally proposed, but IMO the stereo is the best part of a car so I don't mind spending a little more on it. I would definitely go with a 5-channel amp so you get power for every speaker and your sub without taking up a lot of room. Also, Crutchfield will send you everything you need to install (dash kit, wire harnesses, etc) for free, along with instructions and free return shipping. Plus they're always having sales so always be on the lookout! Hope this helps, and good luck!! [thumb]

I know nothing of that amp except that its got 5 channels and 350 watts peak. I'm sure its good though, my friend had a few different Infinity products and they were awesome. Everything on that list I picked out at random from my Crutchfield mag (save for the HU), keeping in mind cr00sh's price range. But thanks for the compliment! [:D]

I agree with you - if I had kids, I wouldn't want them in the back of any vehicle when it crashed. Also, nice set of wheels you picked out there...and TireRack FTW!

wow, thank you everyone for all of your help.

I see a bunch of controversy, with all respect dj I didn't ask for a flame fest I just asked for an opinion. I figure yeah your right about the dvd player but I personally think I would use it alot with friends and all, I figure maybe the overhead is not the best way to go but please maybe revise with another option.

christmas is so soon I cant wait to mod my foci :D

thank you everyone.

also what is the difference between Tweeters, and component system and what should I be looking at?

If I end up scratching the dvd/cd deck unit does the deck really make that much of a difference if it is cheap or expensive?

and I want premium bass along with my speakers, what is the difference between the sizes of the bass like 10" or 12"

I like the looks of the mtx sledge hammer it just looks mean.what do you think? Again I am just going off of eye because I know nothing>?

Well, your already looking at crutchfield which is a good idea. use the user ratings and reviews to your advantage - its a very good website.

Now, i would get some decent 6x8's for your car all around. nothing expensive, nothing too cheap. I'd grab some that have some built in tweet's if your in the budgeting sense of mind.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=52200&i=130TSA6871&c=3&tp=92&avf=N

those are $79 / pair and they are very highly rated on crutchfield. if your looking for something that'll sound good enough for you, without winning any competitions those should do the job just fine.

you've got a hatch. 3 subs?? i'd suggest maybe one, or two at the most. keep in mind you still have to buy an amp and wiring as well. also, a single 10" or 12" sub will take up less space in the back, and if you get it in a ported box it will be louder, a sealed will be more precise base.

i'd suggest a decent deck with a fold out screen for your dvd's.
