i was on my way home from work tonight, cruisin down the highway (cruise control set on 75 (in a 70mph zone, so don't get your panties in a bunch)), in the fast lane. noticed that the car in front of me wasn't going as fast as i was, so i moved to the right lane to go around him, instead of being an ass and riding up on him, etc. he noticed me trying to pass, so he downshifted, and started to take off.

i'm always up for a good little asswhoopin, so i downshifted as well, and took off after him. i felt like i was falling asleep as i was cruisin back on by him. whipee!!

all of a sudden, here he comes flying up on me again, and goes zooming by... so i downshifted again, and took off after him, only to pass him yet again.

my exit comes up, so i start to ease up, and just chill out. come to find out, it's one of my neighbors. so we get off the exit together, pull into our neighborhood together, and he pulls over on the side of the road. so i stop next to him...

him: "what the hell you got done to that thing??"
me: "um, a k&n filter? ha ha ha"
him: "damn man. that thing just like TOOK OFF."
me: "<shrugs> guess it's just a good driver."

ha ha ha. man. it's nice to get a win, and know there ain't SQUAT done to your car. lol.

just thought i'd share.

so, if i read the story correctly you were doing somewhere between 75 and 85 in third gear? (you said you downshifted twice, assuming you where in fifth to begin with... [???:)]

i think he was probably cruisin in 5th then downshifted to fourth at 75 and went then he got back into 5th again and went normal but the guy flew past him (better known as a ricer fly-by) so he downshifted into 4th again and went at it.

that makes more sense...

ah, sorry. it was a '99 mirage coupe, slammed to the ground, with exhaust (only visible mod done).

uh, no offense, but 130 hp and 125tq isnt too bad ass either lol.

at least the focus' numbers are nicely matched. honda (for one) is always lacking in the torque department. could have 160hp, but only like 115tq.

yeah i would have to say that the mirage coupe is the everyday run of the mill ricer mobile. i rmember whn i was in augusta GA that there was this mirage coupe and yes it was the race whore everyone broke a piece off in that. he had something like "Midnight club Racing Team" on the back wind shield. and focus mike how 'bout you and your crew take on me and the Revolution.
