GUYS!! don't tell him "yes it'll fit" that means one less Getrag laying around if I ever need parts one day LOL[joke]

Good luck with the swap.

It'll bolt in... other than the linkage, shifter and normal swap items you'll need a flash to the ECU if you want your speedo to read correctly.... OR you could just figure out where your major driving speeds are and mark them on the speedo.... I did that with my Ranger V 8 conversion.

^^^Isn't there a wiring harness change involved as well?
And, the axle half-shafts need to be swapped?
Frankly, I've done enough searching for folks today, so I'm not looking this one up.
Actually...isn't there a How To that was done recently??

EDIT:
OK, didn't find How To, but this should help:

^^^So, I lied...I did do another search.
See how easy it can be folks??!! [:D]

so it comes down to this to make this easy, i should just do a full svt swap to make this easy? motor ecu and so on

^^^It's not going to make it any easier, because there's also a lot to swap with the motor.

I did just see something today...

the swap is worth the money. regardless of what anyone tells you. i did it. it is well worth the money.

it takes a lot of work. if you are still interested. lmk and i can help guide you in the process. its not something you can do in a day. id say 2-3 days.

5K are you serious, dyno is like like a hundred bucks, reflash not too bad either, I am going to need to make my kit soon. I am parting out an SVT I only needed the bottom end so tranny and full kit will be going up for sale soon in Cali. tranny, axels, shifter, linkage, everything and for way less than 5,000 bucks... Dang I better get that kit together soon.

I have all the parts for the svt swap if anyone is interested, just shoot me a pm.

I am builing my car right now and switching it from the mtx to the getrag since I am more about autox and road racing.

I have two swaps here, one for my car and another I had... well just because, lol.

The reason for the ecu flash is because of the lay shafts and being the getrag has on more. You basically need to fool your mtx computer into thinking that the tranny still has one less lay shaft.

Jborden what is a Lay Shaft?

I think he's referring to the Getrag having three shafts total, two input and one output to make the trans smaller and narrower compared to a conventional trans having two shafts total, one input and one output.

OHH, I see, that makes sense...

Yes... Otherwise when you hit third gear your mtx ecu will shut the car down.

then what is the actual adjustment needed for the tune in say an SCT pro racer system?

besthaticouldo
01-23-2008, 11:49 AM
youll hit the governor at 40mph roughly.

you will need a tune. i personally think its a well worth it swap. i did it. never looked back and love every second of it.

hurtinfocus

so for a getrag swapped into a normal zetec foci, the adjustments as far as a tune on an mtx ECU are just the speed governor and the speedomoter correction factor?
