parking brake lever snapped off :D
Someone decided it would be a good idea, before looking inside my vehicle to see if there was anything worth stealing, to throw a cinder block through my passenger window, scuffing my steering wheel, and snapping off my parking brake lever.
The lever seems to be snapped off at its base, though I need to clean up all the glass before I can get a closer look.
Anyone predict any scenarios as to what it will take for me to fix it? I'd want to do it myself if possible.

you should be able to get a lever from a junk yard focus really cheap
After that, you'll need a phillups head screwdriver, and a 10mm socket, with an extension (atleast 6 inches)
you're going to want to take off out the cupholder rubber dudes (if you have them)
Under those there are 2 screws, thats where the phillips comes in handy, take those out.
Now, pull off the boot on the shifter (you don't have to take it off the shifter, just pull it off the console)
Now in the back of the center console, there's the 2 cup holder pod thing, grab the center of it and squeeze it together (like the cap on a can of spray paint, and pull up. the cup holder section will pop out and reveal 3 10mm bolts. take those out.
now you'll be able to take the center console out. pick up the back of the console, and pull it up and back (towards the back seat) once you have that out you can take off the base of the hand brake.
The hand brake is held in place with 2 10mm bolds, and there is 1 10mm bold holding the brake cable onto the lever. take that bold out and then take out the bolds that hold the lever base down to the floor of the car.
once you've got that off you'd all done
ONE TIP! (and i know this because I took my brake lever off today!) when you put the new one in, make sure you put the brake cable on the new lever before you bolt the lever back down to the car, but don't tighten the nut on the screw too much or you won't be able to get the lever lined back up with the bolt holes.

One more tip.
the how-to says they had problems with getting the console over the brake handle, just pull it up REALLY far and it will clear it.
and while you have your center console out, give it a bath it might be funky from spilled drinks and you don't ever know it until you take it out :p
