Hey all,

I'm doing a coding project for school and have been having terrible luck finding equations for my automotive calculator that I'm making..

Does anyone know the equations for:

1/4 Mile ET and MPH based on hp and weight.

Maximum gear speed based on ratios, rear tire size and max engine RPM. (saw this on a transmission swap page a while ago)

and the average % lost though the drivetrain for FWD RWD and AWD with both auto and manual trannys.

Thanks a lot in advance, if theres any other cool ones that I havent mentioned, feel free to add them in! [thumb]

Drive train loss has a LOT of variables. The mass of the rotating components for manuals. For autos, its a whole different world. Most autos suck 20-25% of the engines available torque right off the bat. I do not think there is any one calculation you could do for parasitic drag.

What all are you trying to do? I've got a book titled "Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics" from a mechanical engineering grad class I took a few years ago, and might be able to help you out.
