My wife and I picked up a new 2004 pitch black ZX3 to replace her 1989 Toyota Camry. I'm pretty impressed with the 2.3L engine, not much torque, but from a roll it pulls pretty decent. I was also impressed by how solid it feels, especially compared to my 2000 Mustang.

I figured I'd come and check out this board for some info since the guys over at MustangWorld basically raped me a new one for buying a Focus. I think they would change their minds if they actually drove one.

Are their any easy bolt ons for the 2.3L, preferably with proven dyno numbers to back them up? How about a chip?

Congrats on your new Focus. There are a number of bolt on items available for the 2.3, you can check out some of the other forums on this site for info. Usually the first is the cold air intake which will give you some instant gratification and some real dyno numbers.[thumb]

Welcome, the 2.3 is a great engine, you should check out the Duratec forums if you haven't already. There is currently and never will be a chip for this car's ECU, but some company is worknig on an upgrade "flash", there is one Focus that had it done, but I don't know if he posts here. And CAI definitely gives some solid numbers for such a fairly simple bolt-on.

Be sure to see this thread for parts for the engine: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1300

And you'll love this engine. May not have a lot of torque compared to a V8, but its the torqueist engine you can get stateside.
