: Chance to buy 2008 Focus. Should I?
skunker 11-25-2007, 02:16 PM My F150 is due (it was a lease) at the end of January 2008, but I just got a letter in the mail saying that I can turn it in early and the dealer will take over the last 2 payments that I would have to pay if I kept the truck until the lease date terminates. This would save me about $720. The catch is, I'd have to buy or lease another FORD vehicle. I was looking at the Ford Focus '08 because it was getting semi-good reviews, but not many people have been able to review it. I was also looking at the '08 Civic.
I don't plan to do any modding. Just need a good daily driver for excellent miles per gallon and good engine for driving on hills and rural roads here in the country. I am also single and have no family, so a coupe is a possible idea.
Is the Ford Focus 2008 a good car or not? There's not many reviews out there yet.
Also, can someone tell me how to get an X-PLAN? Thanks!
illinipo 11-25-2007, 02:19 PM The '08 will do exactly what you need it to. Recommend buy [thumb]
Xetchx 11-25-2007, 02:25 PM yep it really does sound like the Focus is what u need. Get it. We love our Foci here, the 08 has come under scruteny becasue of it's visual stylings but thats it. No body doubts its abaility to be a solid long lasting Daily driver. let us know if you get it[cheers]
skunker 11-25-2007, 02:40 PM Awesome guys, thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to get an XPLAN so I can buy this car and help FORD keep their stock holders happy.
StevenFocus 11-25-2007, 04:11 PM YES get it, went to the dealer the other day to look at them and they are gorgeous. not to mention the interior is pure sex. I would post my pics up but i left my camera at my buddys house.
Techjunkie 11-25-2007, 04:25 PM Get it in white, looks sexy lol.

Klondike 11-25-2007, 06:27 PM yea it gets good gas mileage in town in my 07 same engine, i get 29mpgs alot!! and thats with some good spirited drives, and get a stick cuz going up and down hills its no sweat 3rd gear pulls you up ay hill, i live in a very hilly area and never have an issue.
youll love your car and its not to bad looking and the interior is nice, so go for it
SkaAddict 11-25-2007, 06:53 PM '08 Focus...this about sums it up for me:

If I were in your situation I'd look for a lightly used late model '05-07, if not a new '07 (there has to be a few of them floating around out there still.) Was there a stipulation on the deal that it has to be a new model?
Brindfan 11-25-2007, 07:29 PM If you want a five speed, you may have to do some hunting. I have yet to see anything but automatics, and I've been to three dealerships in my area.
NintendoSkater 11-25-2007, 07:43 PM I'd rather have a 2000 Focus then a 2008 one.
EvilGenius 11-25-2007, 07:54 PM Get a 2 door civic EX with a stick.
Klondike 11-25-2007, 07:54 PM I'd rather have a 2000 Focus then a 2008 one.
^no you wouldnt, dont lie lol
EvilGenius 11-25-2007, 08:07 PM Hey guys shut up, there's nothing wrong with my focus! [bootyshak
fast_ryda 11-25-2007, 08:14 PM get a civic coupe...or a 07 ST or find an SVT
NintendoSkater 11-25-2007, 08:39 PM ^no you wouldnt, dont lie lol
I'm not, the 08 doesn't even look like a tuner car. I like the looks of the original Focus so much better then the new one. Kind of like the original iPod nano versus the new one.
Xetchx 11-25-2007, 08:43 PM the question wasn't about a 'tuner car" it was is the 08 focus a good quiality car that can provide high MPG and last in to the high milage area, so YES
EvilGenius 11-25-2007, 08:45 PM True it can, but I'm pretty confident that a Honda will outlast the 08 and beat it in performance and quality.
Klondike 11-25-2007, 08:49 PM i guess, but id take a new car over a old one, i gess all in the pricing and such as well, dunno with a lil work i think itll look alright, and the dura is so fun
killer ZETEC 11-26-2007, 12:19 PM looks likei nned ti kidnap evil and take him for a ride in my mom's 08 coupe. btw a 150 hp engine stock will be perfect for hills. unlike the honda (no power until red line, so whats the use of starting it?) i like the 08. is got plenty of pwer with a 5 speed behind it. or if your lazy get the auto. is only slightly slower. and nintendo 50 bucks says my mom in her car could pwn you in yours.
EvilGenius 11-26-2007, 12:48 PM ...unlike the honda (no power until red line, so whats the use of starting it?)
Hardly, the "no power till redline" argument for hondas really only applies to the 1.5L SOHC and the b16 engines anything new is either on par or above our cars.
My father has an '07 EX. It's a 1.8L SOHC 16v engine with 140 hp. It's almost as fast as my car and it's stock, hell if he had a 5spd instead of the auto I'm fairly certain it'd beat my car by a decent margin (especially during the summer).
NintendoSkater 11-26-2007, 01:54 PM nintendo 50 bucks says my mom in her car could pwn you in yours.
50 bucks says my mom in her IS300 will pwn your mom in her 08 [strongman]
killer ZETEC 11-26-2007, 03:17 PM 50 says my grandma mercury monterey can out haul that thing, lol.
Klondike 11-26-2007, 06:44 PM lol wow to funny
focusgirl313 11-26-2007, 07:03 PM Hey guys just joined today wanted to let you know that the 08's do come in a 5 speed I have mine coming in tomorrow too excited :)
Chick 11-26-2007, 07:22 PM 08 Civic > 08 Focus.
NintendoSkater 11-26-2007, 07:25 PM 50 says my grandma mercury monterey can out haul that thing, lol.

vinnieZTS 11-26-2007, 07:49 PM Get it in white, looks sexy lol.

goodluck getting what you want! and whats good for you! [^]
skunker 11-28-2007, 08:47 AM hey everyone, i bought a Ford Focus 2008 yesterday! I will be picking it up today! The car is sweeeeeeeeeet, (SES model) and has a spoiler too.
Hi vinny, how's san antonio? Ive just been here for about a year now.
FocusStrider 11-28-2007, 12:28 PM maybe there should be a Official Focus 2008 thread.. and/or a group.....
Techjunkie 11-28-2007, 01:30 PM Lots of newbies with a '08. Nice!

My dog would so eat that.
But I digress, I would probably look elsewhere myself, but I have been spoiled with a beauty I think. My standards might be too high.
WUGcatsvt 11-28-2007, 01:52 PM I cant Believe anyone would Choose an 08 Focus to an 08 Civic...
Thats Beyond me... The Civics pros to cos vs a Focus are about 100 to 1... Resale.. Reliablity (its a new design).. LOOKS (there is no IMO it looks better regardless of what you think)... Attractive appeal (Guys... Which do you think looks hotter.. Girl In focus or Girl in Civic.. Civic all the way)... Driveablity (After driving many fords and hondas fords dont drive nearly as smooth)
Too many Downsides to to focus...

The 08 Civic looks like garbage compared to the focus of any year, at least to me. My buddy has a 07 civic and it doesnt drive any better than my 06 fofo, my girlfriend looks just as good in my focus as his in his civic. The only up he has on me is his is a 5 speed, and the interior is immaculate.

I went with the Ford because I got so many discounts and plus, used the XPLAN price. I also got exactly what I wanted.
I don't like the look of the Civics.
SkaAddict 11-28-2007, 06:48 PM ^
Couldn't agree more...really isn't much on the new Civics that appeals to me. The interior might be nice but I think its bland and they honestly couldn't have used an all digital or all analog gauge cluster instead of a digital speedo and analog everything else? Oh yeah...and no factory HID...you'd think they could at least make it an option when the stupid thing gets touted as being on par with cars in the next price bracket.

Looks are subjective...some might think it looks nice, others (like myself) think it looks like ass. That's why its called an "opinion."

i didnt think anyone would agree with me, the new civic isnt all that great.. now the 08 accord.. is SEXY.
skunker 11-28-2007, 08:22 PM Yes, I agree with you here...the 08 Accord is sexy. My neighbor got one.
MaroonZX3 12-05-2007, 09:06 AM I would gladly buy one. Some may like the looks of the older Focus's better, but it sounds like the '08 is an overall improved version of the original. And that's a good thing.
FocusStrider 12-05-2007, 12:53 PM again, go ahead and buy an 08.. and come to FF! :)
eggman0905 12-05-2007, 03:33 PM I've been wanting a Ford Fusion for a while, but after dealing with the Ford dealership for many weeks, it looks like I'm not going to be able to afford it...so out of the blue when we were talking with the salesman the other night, I'm just like...what about an '08 Focus? They didn't have one on the lot, but I guess they do now, but it's only an S model. If I get one, it's going to be a fully loaded SES. But I think I'm going to go tonight and see how the S drives and go from there.
Bruno_NB 12-05-2007, 04:40 PM For what it's worth:
I test-drove an '08 SES Sedan this week while my '07 was in for service. I came out very impressed! It definitely felt more like a baby Taurus with an Escape interior, but I'm not complaining :)
I thought it drove more stable than the older gen, a bit more pep, and definitely quieter on the highway.
I personally think it's more "grown up" than it was before.
I'd definitely upgrade for an '08 if I had the chance.
misfire 01-12-2008, 10:14 PM so i got an '08 focus while my car is in the shop over the weekend for a trans cooler line leak. i like it. i like it more than the 05-07's. but it's not my custom 03. i think it is a good improvement all around. it's a nice smooth ride, the interior is cool and comfortable. the gas mileage is good. everyone that has seen me with it likes it
dazada 01-12-2008, 10:17 PM I hear good things about the 08's...you know...except the outside...
I personally would buy one, but I PROMISE YOU...I would remove and/or paint as much of the chrome as I could, and burn that cheap, crappy, horrible, ner-do-well, plastic side vent thingy.
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n99/dazada/Focusvent2.jpg
misfire 01-12-2008, 10:21 PM yeah. it reminds me of a saturn on the outside.
BIG_SEXY 01-12-2008, 10:52 PM The 08 is nice, but im not really into the dash setup....kinda reminds me of a mazada 3!
misfire 01-12-2008, 11:04 PM The 08 is nice, but im not really into the dash setup....kinda reminds me of a mazada 3!
yeah it does
Roland07 01-12-2008, 11:09 PM I can't believe the 08 is getting such crap on a Focus forum. I wasn't around, but I think FF was; was there this much of a stink about the 05?
I personally don't like the looks of it either, but it's still a Focus under the new sheet metal.
CJohn364 01-13-2008, 04:20 PM My F150 is due (it was a lease) at the end of January 2008, but I just got a letter in the mail saying that I can turn it in early and the dealer will take over the last 2 payments that I would have to pay if I kept the truck until the lease date terminates. I would go for it b/c it will not only save you money on the lease, but in gas also. With gas prices spiking over $3 a gallon, it would be worth it, I think.
