Mercury Marauder
Tetsuo 11-18-2007, 09:06 AM i'd buy a maruader...
NA_built13 11-18-2007, 09:09 AM the maruader reminds me of a Evolution X
WitchCitySVT 11-18-2007, 09:34 AM That would be sweet. Too bad it won't happen.
Tetsuo 11-18-2007, 09:34 AM you never know
ford is struggling to stay alive... they might just be crazy enough now...
Khanaar 11-18-2007, 09:35 AM the marauder (lol falcon) is such an emo, look at the eyepaint!
I love the rebadge work. [;)]
Duffman355 11-18-2007, 11:19 AM oh, that would be so lovely
N3M3S1SFOCI 11-18-2007, 11:21 AM if you look at the lifespan for production regarding Mercury, Ford has nothing planned for Mercury after 2012. Sad. It use to be the premier model line for the Ford family.
Brindfan 11-18-2007, 11:44 AM No two door models?
boca202 11-18-2007, 12:30 PM Mercury Meteor Rocks!!! i would buy one. Yeap
wrc_fan 11-18-2007, 12:44 PM Good in theory, kind of like saturn. Bringing over the European/Aus. models over here and sell them as a different brand.
Maybe with Land Rover and Jag soon to go this is a feasable direction.
TKE_Quailman 11-18-2007, 02:46 PM i would be afraid if Florida Highway patrol had those maraduers not that there nitrious camero's arent scary already
Mr-914 11-18-2007, 05:00 PM I was actually thinking that Mercury could sell the 3-door hatch euro Focus and the 4 door sedan. I think that makes the most sense because they get the sensible conservatives with the sedan and the sport buyer with the hatch. I don't know if the Mondeo has a sedan model, so they might have to use the 5 door. The Marauder would be awesome as a launch vehicle for a renewed Mercury brand, although I would think it would be more difficult to pass US laws, so probably it would follow 2 years behind a Focus and Mondeo launch. I was also thinking that the NA Focus will probably continue until 2011 or '12. The original Focus was launched 1-1.5 years later in the US than Europe, I expect the third gen will too. Therefore, I think this is a feasible line up for Mercury, even if it is a fairy tale.
shepski 11-18-2007, 08:36 PM In a perfect world...
Onlyford4me 11-18-2007, 09:14 PM That would be one badass lineup. I'm liking the comet myself.
SkaAddict 11-18-2007, 09:17 PM They all look too aggressive to be Mercury models...
nepafocus03 11-19-2007, 08:37 AM yeah i agree with ska, mercurys are for older people (except for the last cugars) most young people dont really drive them. if they are going to bring over new euro stuff just get rid off the ugly fords and replace them with the new stuff. i think right now the fusion and mustang are really the only ford cars worth keeping around.
Xetchx 11-19-2007, 08:48 AM yeah, but while Mercury is known as a Ford luxury upgrade a long time ago they were know for performance as well, back in the 50's or so when Racing (stock car) was considered Taboo for a short time all the major manufacfurers started disasemmbling there race teams expect Ford, they used there Mercury division and took there big luxury cars put a fast back on them dropped a Ford 427 under the hood and slapped the name "Maruader" on it and started kickin but at the Track. After a while if you had the money and wanted a performance aimed luxury car you bought a Maruader version, but the bad boy of the group was the Maruader S55
akight 11-19-2007, 09:04 AM that would be fantastic... to bad it will never happen
thehubster 11-19-2007, 09:54 AM hell i think i would buy aby of those if i had the monry. they are all really nice cars. i think the Maurader is the best.
razorrik 11-19-2007, 10:39 AM i would def buy the marauder.
Super Dave 26 11-19-2007, 12:21 PM Mercury has prio history...

They could do anything they want as an experiment, if it works, they win. If it doesn't, they can bury it under the Mercury logo without loosing much face. I just wish they would do something more. I like the look of the Milan more than the Ford version.
jrgtrain 11-19-2007, 12:32 PM The marauder looks like the Ultimate Warrior.
killer ZETEC 11-19-2007, 01:53 PM lol comet=zx5
so yeah id rock a comet (diggin the headlights)
06zx4ses 11-19-2007, 02:03 PM anybody else spot the blue ford ovals on the centercaps of the comet and marauder?? the marauder looks pretty mean though i would buy one of those.
razorrik 11-20-2007, 06:50 AM blue oval centercaps,,hmm im sur it has nothing to do with mercury being a ford division..lol
Django 11-20-2007, 10:52 AM i'd buy a maruader...
Yeah id totally buy a wannabe gto too. Knowing ford/merc youll be able to get 4 grand off just for looking at it.
silveib 11-20-2007, 10:54 AM i think if they changed the names to something more familiar and there is no way they are going to be able to market a marauder that looks like that... look at the current one! for it to appeal to a slightly older crowd (ones that have the money to pay a little more money for a upscaled ford) it cant be that radical..... the first too definitely more realistic tho
Mr-914 11-21-2007, 08:32 PM Ford already has brands for older buyers: Lincoln and Jaguar. Ford itself is kind of a big mash of bargain brand & trucks & maybe a sports coupe. Volvo is for euro-style & safety. Mazda is Japanese & sporty. Ford doesn't have an Acura or BMW type brand, but they have an extra nameplate laying around in Mercury. Why not use it?
I think the Australian Ford Falcon GT is just wild enough. If Mercury were to rebrand itself, it would need an outrageous model to capture the attention of the people who forgot it existed. The Falcon GT would definately get attention.
