Let me just say:

THIS FREAKEN CAR IS B E A U T I F U L!!! Way better in person than any picture. It's way bigger than i thought.

So while i was there, i got quote!: [:D]

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e231/superpulga/Random%20Stuff/scan0004.jpg

The quote is in spanish and in pesos. Our current exchange rate is 11 x 1 (eleven pesos to each dollar).

So basically here's the Run down -

Car Price (cash) - $ 25,445.45 usd.

Or

15% Deposit / Down Payment - $ 3,816.82 usd.
Insurance - 1,269.33 usd.
Opening Comission - 594.78 usd.

Total Down Payment - $ 5,680.93 usd.

And the rest as fallows:

12 Months - 12.90% = $ 1,939.97 p/month
24 Months - 12.90% = $ 1,036.44 p/month
36 Months - 12.90% = $ 737.15 p/month
48 Months - 12.90% = $ 588.90 p/month
60 Months - 12.90% = $ 501.06 p/month

Is it me, or is this a wee bit too high? You'll end up paying a lot more!

For instance, if i were to take the 60 month plan, i would end up paying $ 35.744.53 ???

I might as well wait for thr Fiesta ST to come out and turbo it. The Fiesta ST is somewhere around $ 18,000 usd.

Anyways, the wifey fell in love with this:

12.9% is a high rate. Is that what they quoted you? Even with not so good credit you should be able to find a 9.5%.

I can't see the pics cause I'm at work and they have most of the photo sites blocked, but yeah it costs more because the interest has more time to work on it.

$25,000 is a lot and further makes the case for why the car was never brought to the US.

WoW nice. Only one drawback is if we in US were to buy it from mexico and anything brakes, it would be major PIA to replace/repair.
Can you imagine coming to the dealership, and they would ask: "What car do you have?"
-Ford Focus ST Euro Model.
-What???? Ford doesn't make this kind of car.
-It's parked right there, go see for yoursefl...
-Is is Ford?
ect,ect.

Other than that, I would buy it!

yeah, $25,000 isn't out range at all... not for that performance bracket. it's maddening that the ST is that close to the US, yet we can't get it here... Ford coulda still sold the fugly base model Focus we have today, then imported some ST's from Mexico in limited quantities as the performance version. if the quantites were small enough, I don't see how they would be losing money... way to make the brand boring in your own country, Ford!

I agree^^

Now, the 12.90% seems to be firm, for anyone. And from what i can tell, the financing is through a bank. I honestly think it's too much when it's financed, since you'd end up paying almost 10,000 more. But if i had the cash, i would totally buy it.

not true, i guess it depends on the region. When I got my brand new focus is 2003, i was fresh out of college with no credit and got 8.9%. Few weeks ago I went to look at trading it in for a 2007 ST, my credit score is now like 680 (cuz i have open loans..but thats a "good" score), and the best they would offer me was 9.9%, a full point higher. i was like psssht.

ST is beautiful though!!!!

So can you drive this back to the US to keep it here or is that frowned upon?

Tbones00SE
11-14-2007, 01:00 PM
You can't import and drive a car into the US unless you make it comply with the safety and emission standards of this country. It would cost too much to retrofit the car to make it worth it.

There is almost no way you could get away with selling the ST side by side with the current focus. At the very least, you'd have to call the ST something else. Ford already loses money on just about every car sold. The car would have to be redesigned to meet U.S. safety and emission laws. That would add to the price of the car for such a limited production. So, knowing Ford that would mean they would cheap the car out to make it more affordable and ya'll would be complaining about how Ford cheaped out the car and how you wish you'd got the same car everyone else in the world got. Best thing is to wait a few more years for Ford to come back with a global focus that we can all love.

1. Is this Euro Focus actually BUILT in Europe and imported to mexico, or is it built in Mexico?

2. Is the "US" Focus also on sale there along side the Euro Focus?

3. I would assume the orange ST in the photos has the 5-cylinder engine, and does it have a turbo / intercooler?

With all the features that ST has, $25,000 US doesn't seem out of line to me - very close to what a Mazdaspeed 3 would be here.

Hey dude, answers to your questions:

1.)It's built in Eurpe and imported to Mexico, although i'n not really sure.

2.)No, the other focus on the lot is also Euro:

That's exactly what i wanted, but these freaken dumb asses here don't let poeple personalize the plates. [rant]

Our plates have to be 3 letter, 2 numbers and another 2 numbers (although these can be mixxed with random letters), example:

Mine is

BCZ-40-43

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e231/superpulga/Focus/Picture17.jpg

On a new car it would be the same except it would start with

AHL-XX-XX

On trucks, is:

XX-XXX-XX

The cool thing about getting a new car, is that you can get the Euro style plates for them, the long kind, look at the this pic, notice where the plate goes:

Jesus, I'm moving to Mexico - beautiful women (like your wife) and THAT for sale.

Unbelievable. I hate Ford more than ever. I'D totally pay $25K for that here, but I guess Ford thinks (or thinks the US public thinks) its small cars aren't supposed to be players in that price range.

Meanwhile, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I see one here in D.C., as it seems diplomats can bring in whatever they want (or maybe only for six-month stints, I can't remember).

I'd love to know if it's possible to buy one, keep it here for six months, drive back to Mexico for vacay, then bring it back for another six months...

So awesome there are no words.

OK; maybe a few.

I want one. If the Focus can be as close as Mexico why can't it be shipped a few hundred miles further to a distributor? Ford may think this won't sell but won't it?!?

The Volkswagen GTI, MazdaSpeed 3, and Honda Civic Si are all selling great.
I think this Focus could sell just as well, and my next car could be another Focus.

True but those cars are reguarded as slightly higher quality. With the Focus name still attached to the car, it will be hard to sell it in the US for $25K when most people are used to seeing a price tag of under $20K if not well below. Still an amazing car, would love to drive one [thumb]

The down side to that is if you get caught, which eventually you will, you'll probably end up in deep shiznit.

I just got off the phone with one of the sales rep and asked if a US resident / American can buy the car and they said yes. Allthough they pointed out that it might be a hassle to get American plates.

I just rememberd that i went to the DMV on tuesday and aksed what i needed to get CA plates for a Classic. My boss has a 57 Chevy:

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/540000-540999/540486_23_full.jpg

It has Mex plates and he wants to get Ca plates for it (i think he wants to sell it). I asked the lady at the DMV and she gave me a form to fill out. She asked for me to bring in the car for inspection with the form filled out and that's all i needed to do. No smog needed since it's a Classic.

I wonder if it's any different with trying to get CA plates for the ST.

Here are the guidlines to import a car into the US. From the NHTSA website:

As a general rule, a motor vehicle less than 25 years old must comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS) to be imported on a permanent basis. Vehicles (other than motorcycles) manufactured to comply with the FMVSS will have a certification label affixed by the original manufacturer in the area of the driver-side door. Motorcycles will have the label close to the intersection of the steering post and the handlebars. To make importation easier, when purchasing abroad a vehicle certified to the U.S. standards, a buyer should have the seller verify in the sales contract that the label is attached and present this document at the time of importation.

A vehicle without a certification label cannot be imported as a conforming vehicle. In this case, the importer must contract with a Registered Importer (RI) to modify the vehicle and post a DOT Conformance Bond in an amount equivalent to one and a half times the vehicle’s dutiable value. This bond is in addition to the normal Customs entry bond. Copies of the DOT Conformance Bond and the contract with an RI must be attached to the HS-7 form.

Under the contract, the RI will modify the vehicle and certify that it conforms to all applicable FMVSS. Before an RI can modify a vehicle, NHTSA must have determined that the vehicle is eligible for importation based on its capability of being modified to conform to all applicable FMVSS. If no determination has been made, the RI must petition NHTSA to determine whether the vehicle is eligible for importation. If the petitioned vehicle is not similar to one sold in the U.S., this process can become very complex and costly. A list of vehicles that have been determined eligible for importation can be found on NHTSA’s web site at http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import.

Since the cost of modifying a nonconforming vehicle, or the time required to bring it into conformance, may affect the decision to purchase a vehicle abroad, we strongly recommend discussing these matters with an RI before buying and shipping a vehicle to the U.S.

Leave it to Ford to make one car that is bland for the States in a neighboring country only to turn around and allow that country to get the car that alot of people would prefer if just give the chance... Blows me away that with the STI and Evo domineering this country (like them both, don't get me wrong) Ford has cars like this that they refuse to release......argh!!!!

I wonder if the seats from either a Euro Fiesta or Focus ST would be an easy install into an SVT...

I doth lust.

You know, I was thinking about it today and it really WOULDN'T be all that ridiculous for Ford to sell it here as a "Focus SVT"...

The average Joe never noticed the SVTs anyway, and the people who KNOW would "get" two radically different Foci lines being available at the dealership.

AND I think all of us would happily pay $25K to $28K for it. I mean, for chissake, an R32 is $35 GRAND?!?

Yup. The Fiesta is the perfect transition from the 07' Foci. Gotta save my pennies so i can be ready.

The FIESTA sold in Latin America looks like a little Foci:

Eeeew, i honestly dislike that. [thumbd]

That's the regular non-St Fiesta Sedan. The Regular Hatch look a weeb bit like the ST, except it lacks all the coolness.

Looks awful indeed. Like some sketch of the '05 Focus lol.

Wow that's awesome...how far north in Mexico do they sell these??? (Euro Focus ST) [hihi]

And I dislike the looks of the new Fiesta. The headlights look very girly..."cute" if you will. Too "cute" for me.

I don't like this one. Looks to me like the "Honda Fit" with the ordinary looking of the headlights.
