whynotthinkwhynot 11-12-2007, 11:10 AM I just thought some of you might want to read about this.

I thought it was cool, but it just fuels my anger that Ford doesn't do anything high tech for consumers in this age.
josejsanchez 11-12-2007, 11:15 AM i would love to have something like that in my ride
SkyPilot 11-12-2007, 12:22 PM i think i have seen that before, still really cool
Rujokinjal 11-12-2007, 02:19 PM this is just plain cool.
DURATECoftheDesert 11-12-2007, 04:02 PM hum, all that torque would be useful... but not for me.
SuperFocusMan 11-12-2007, 04:14 PM So this information in theory means that Ford invented the HEMI.
Because WW2 started in 1951 for the Americans and Dodge introduced
the Hemi in 1954

[scratch] the engine alone probably weighs half as much as your car.
This made me laugh...
Gas mileage was about 0.8 miles per gallon for the 30 ton Sherman Tank

The classic "hemi" combustion chamber has been in use since the early 1900's; Chrysler just latched onto HEMI for marketing purposes.

I'm sure you could get at LEAST 2 miles to the gallon if it was in your ride [hihi]
killer ZETEC 11-12-2007, 05:02 PM meh some mods on that and she'll rellly go!!, think about it, digital fuel injection and electronic ignition.. sure a set of custom headers and a custom intake would need to be built. and i'm sure if you do some cam and head work (as these thing were possibly slapped together as fast a possible after the trial periods) you could get an insane amount of power. but a 1,100 cu, in. engine is just nuts by itself

whynotthinkwhynot 11-13-2007, 08:21 AM If you really want to get into ancient motors, the Duesenberg (it took me forever to find it because I kept misspelling it) had DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder in 1929. According to Wiki, someone is planning on re-opening the name to feature luxury cars with higher tech engines than anything on the market today. I'd personally like to see the Coates CSRV appear in one.
It is American made, back in the day when Germans who moved to America would rather be called Americans than German-Americans.

svtguy88 11-13-2007, 12:38 PM Yeah...Duesies were crazy nice.....and sell for crazy amount of money today.
Oregon-ized 11-13-2007, 01:38 PM If you want to talk about ancient technology, the scan below is of a Liberty V-12 aircraft engine first built in 1917. Note the OHC design. 320-400 hp depending on the pistons that were used in different models; 5" bore, 7" stroke, 1649 c.i.; aluminum pistons.
