I love my Focus, but one thing that I am getting fed up with is the noise coming from the street when I hit the highway. Is there any modification that anyone has used to reduce the noise in their cabin?

Elemental Designs EDEAD. even the low budget stuff works great.
Runs 1.00 per sq ft. 60 sq ft and it does the whole inside minus the roof.

Not my car, but this is what can be done if you want to spend enough money to deaden sound coming into the car. Apart from that, the right tires would help:

tire design plays alot in the road noise equation. know i'm tired of the factory goodyears on my new one. they arent too bad on asphalt but are way loud on concrete.
another thing is air pressure in the tires, try playing with a little more or less than recommended

I agree totally here, air pressure makes a huge difference. For about a month, I was wondering why I was getting a whole lot of noise. I ended up checking my tire pressure and it was 7psi too low. Probably from temperature difference from summer to winter.

Basically. Thats how a BMW or Audi would look under the carpet. It greatly reduces cabin noise. IIRC when he did that he said it added like 65lbs to the car.

I saved that pic off the web a year ago when I was digging for info about sound deadening material. I found reviews on probably more than a dozen name brand products, the best known being Dynamat. I don't know which brand is in the photo, but they would all look about like that - a layer of self adhesive rubberized asphalt or viscoelastic polymer covered by aluminum foil.

I have eDead in my doors ,trunk , basically everywhere except roof and firewall. Works really well. Improves sound quality and reduces road noise and vibration. 1 Door takes about 5-10 sq ft.

Damn, you beat me to it. Yeah I always listen to the radio when I hit the highway. Gets rid of the road noise and helps keep me awake. The continuous sound of the wind would just put me to sleep.
