my friend has told me that he started a car club a while back, and he had a tax number with some company i guess, and he got all his parts for dealer price. Now my question is, has anyone done this? like does anyone here run there own Lagit car club, and gets parts for cheap. Id really like to get a tax number somewhere to get dealer price, and become a dealer, so if anyone could help me out, on how to get started, or if its total BS, just let me know
thanx for the time

i don't know about the tax number, but my club leader has connections with many shops, who provide him and everyone else on the team with discounted prices. i guess its mainly connections, or just ask them (meaning the shops) about it. maybe they'll hook you up, in exchange for advertising their shop.

yeah truee, i was thinking about that too...maybe ill go that route, thanx
Our local 4X4 club has the same discount deal mentioned above at a few shops in town.
The more we buy, the bigger the discount becomes.
To truly get a tax number to buy at Dealer/Wholesale cost, legally,
you'll need to register your business with the State and/or city/county depending on your State's business laws.
You can also contact your SOS (Secretary of State) for further business info.
IIRC, the SOS deals with non-profits, such as our 4X4 club.

as WD40 stated you will need to go to your local city hall and get a TAX and Resale Certificate. Once you have that you will need to get a supplier or manufacture to supply you. Fees depend on the city for the certificates. Most suppliers/manufactures have a "buy in" for you to start buying/selling thier products...the "buy-in" can be as high as $20,000.

What wd40 said is exactly right. I am in a club ( www.teamasylumracing.com) and two of our members had started an onliine parts company ( www.mantismotorsports.com ). Even though mantis is no longer up and running, the two of them still have the connections to get the dealer costs. I don't know all the details, but i do know that they registered with the state of maryland to grant sale and yada yada yada. If you want more infor about all that, go to my clubs website and email Cary D. or Dave M., they can answer your questions much easier. Just tell them you were talking to Brian on the Focus forums. Hope this helps!
