That pretty much sums up why I leave my cars stock. It's cheaper/easier for me in the long run. If I do make changes - I only use OEM parts. Keep that tasteful clean stock look.
If I didn't like the way the car was stock - I wouldn't have bought it.

i'm going na first for motor biulding. i need a daily and i don't want to impact that much. as for mods for the sake of doing it i'm against that. that is what makes it so hard to stand out in the first place nowadays subtle get just as much stares as a widebody and huge chrome wheels. exept subtle can hide in traffic better

there are some cars ill mod and others i wont...before my focus i had a 1990 corvette....you couldnt have paid me to mod that car....it belongs stock imo....but modding cars has been my hobby for 15 years now.....sure, ive spent an ass load of money doing so....but again...its my hobby as well as my passion....what else am i going to do with my spare cash?

Boo on all that, for those who like their cars stock I'm happy for them but for me the focus was NOT properly designed from factory. They sit too high the motor mounts allowed the engine to actually move enough to shake the entire car on aggressive driving plus MANY other things.
In my opinion almost all cars can be improved b/c cars companies build a universal car and I want a personal touch.

Are you a better driver than the car can handle?
Before you get carried away with handling mods, adjustable shocks, stiff springs, Race tires and fat sway bars, ask yourself if you are driving so well you need all these changes? What races will you be attending that will require these mods?
A good driver will turn quicker laps in a stock BMW 325is, than an average driver in a Porsche 911 Carrera. A lot of races are held with totally stock cars, with capable drivers, who enjoy their cars to the fullest. Until driver skill exceeds a cars ultimate capacity, the mods only make you more dangerous by making the car fee safer at higher speeds, that are beyond your ability to cope with the consequences. A better investment of time and money is always on driver skills and education over any modifications for performance. An excellent driver can have a lot of fun in a totally stock Corvette ZO6. The higher the skill level, the less capable the car needs to be in order to run quick laps at the track! Considering the costs of many mods today, the driver school option, club or professional, are an excellent value all around.
So true, there are so many stupid kids and sometimes adults out there that just mod their cars to make it better then someone elses or the fastest on the road, when in fact, they really won't have the skill to handle the car. Especially with your first car, it could takes a year or more for you to fully be able to handle its full potential. I'm too the point where my driving skill is beyond the focus, or very close too it, so I'll be looking to upgrade as soon as I get the money to do so.
I'm the same way too, some cars should be modded, some shouldnt.

According to the Warranty link on that page, my car no longer has one because I put a K&N filter on it? [???:)]
Anybody want to buy a hardly used K&N filter then?

When it comes to my daily driver - no mods or anything more major than a change of wheels/tires. Reason being that if I screw something up - I can't get to work. Now, if I had a third car and the focus was something that didn't see daily use - you better believe I'll be throwing money at modding it.
The potential risks of headaches just aren't worth it for me when it comes to my daily driver. Downtime means lost money - and I can't afford to lose any money because I dropped money into modifying my car.
Bone stock she stays until I move on to something bigger and better for a daily driver or win the lotto. (in which case she becomes an RS8 clone with as much as the stock 07 bodywork retained as possible - if I can retain the hubcaps - even better).

(Only make mods that mean something to YOU:
Forget installing the springs and shocks someone else did, just because they thought it was cool. If it doesn't mean that much to you, resist the pear pressure and leave your car alone. Nothing is wrong with a well cared for, prestine, bone stock car!)
I totally agree on this paragraph, This mod would only be a good of use on the LAST OF THE TO DO LIST..........NOT THE FIRST!
