Woot, scheduled my first exam for my license. Little under a month to study.

Finally saw a 2012 focus in person Fri. at the local dealer. Sat in it but didn't drive. I was able to get my tall a$$ inside, but I'd still like to see a 3-dr hatch.

^^^ How tall are you? That was my main concern. Autoblog says its a little tight for tall people.

I'm taking my first ASE certification may 5th, I'm going for brakes this go round. There are bunch of quirky things about this new job but the pro's out weigh the cons so much its hard to complain. They are paying for my first ASE test and they say thats it, BUT the other guy said they pay for any ASE test I take in different areas. If I fail brakes I have to pay the next round but if I pass brakes, then the next test I take will most likely be paid for.

Oh and while pulling a Ford based RV I found a cat collar with the name socks and a phone # on it I haven't called and I don't think I will. It might be better if the owners didn't know the fate of their kitty although I do want to know how long the collar was there, the RV is a 2000 model...

I'm 6'4". Headroom was as good as my '02 but I still would like Ford to build something other than a 4-dr. It makes the front door opening too small for my taste.

Don't know if I've mentioned it, but I've tore the rx7 completely apart. Wheels have been sanded, painted black, and cleared. I've done all the body work on the car. It's taped off ready to paint. New engine mount coming for it, new manual steering rack. Motor is coming out sometime this weekend. Working on trading for a set of world product heads.

Here's the color I'm painting it. Little darker than this, because I'm not gonna clear it, but same name. Mineral Gray. I've got the moon roof cover painted and it looks great.

got the wheels for free: (technically they arent mine, but my buddy with the rsx doesnt need them anymore)
got the old tires pulled off for free: (buddy works at a firestone)
got the "new" used tires for free: (same buddy that works at firestone)
got the wheels hubs milled out to fit the talon for free: (friend is a machinist)

i'm with you guys. i was just about to post how i miss the old gumpers lol hate that this place has died, but just seems that several of us have gotten busier with life or have moved off out of range, plus whatever other random mess. i'm down here in texas at ft hood now, just got in earlier in the week and just finished unpacking the new place.

speaking of 2012s, I stopped by the local dealer to see if they had any on the lot. 1 sedan, 1 hatch. When I asked if that's all they had, he told me that's all they have "left" because they seem to be selling pretty well. Have only seen 1 on the road though, and that was up in Huntsville. In any case, I sat in it, looked all around, and it really is an amazing car. They thought of so much random stuff. Back seats, in the hatch at least, to the outside of the seat there are 2 little cubby holes for small, random storage just between the seat and the door. Caught me off guard and was surprised when I actually climbed in the back and closed the door just to find out that they aren't covered up by the door lol Told Kim I do still have aspirations of getting an ST, despite having just bought the Jeep, and she finally got a bit frustrated with my obsession with wanting to buy vehicles lol But we'll see, maybe 2013ish if things play out just right.

Guys with your toy cars, they're looking good. Simple, clean choice of wheels for the Talon, and can't go wrong with such a color on the RX-7.

Oh man that sucks. Dad's f150 is like that. You about have to fold in the mirrors to get it in the garage. But my focus and rx7 fit in with a foot of clearance one each side.

Fortunately it doesn't look to costly to snag a replacement on eBay, and looks like the most difficult part will be figuring out how the heck the inside cover piece comes off. Guess it's about time I actually start doing something with the vehicles myself lol

shit, i've hardly ridden the bike since this time last year. i've had an exhaust sitting around since late summer that hasn't even found its way on. graduated last may, was working on the farm till october, so i was either working or sleeping. then missouri and winter, so it was parked. hopefully sometime in the upcoming weeks i'll run out of random stuff needing to be done and will get to it, as well as get some debt paid off and re-accumulate some more by finally doing something with it lol

Went out and rode the atv this weekend had a blast!!

Also went and saw Fast five it was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to the track instead of going to see Fast Five. Spent 5 hours there and got to see 4 cars run. A street mustang with a big shot of nitrous blew is motor to pieces. The head literally broke in chunks, valve cover twisted up, the piston was laying in the engine bay, the starter was dragging the ground. So they had to clean the track... This is the worst crew I've seen. They wasted nearly 40 gallons of racing fuel, alcohol, and 5 gallons of regular gas trying to burn the oil off. After wasting an hour they closed that lane, and the first pass in the other lane lead to a mustang dumping a bunch of oil at the end of the track... Worst track day ever.

As for the car stuff, I've been mostly working in the talon lately. So far I've bough and or installed: solid shifter bushings, new plugs, ss brake lines, BFMIC, arp turbo bolts, and a rebuild kit for the tb (it's leaking badly). Probably going to get some cheaper lowering springs soon and doing something with the motor mounts...

So the Peugeots are officially here. Didn't know that till I saw one pass yesterday while I was out running. Running down the road and here comes this car heading the opposite direction. Took me a moment, then it was a double-take when I realized what it was. Looks like something between a Smartcar and a Mini. Kinda cool looking little thing.

Let me be probably the thousandth person to declare how big a bitch it is to take off the mirror caps. I finally said screw it with the screw driver and discovered that with only a small amount of pain and awkwardness, I could squeeze my fingers behind the glass and release the clips. I think I'm becoming paint-happy. Contemplating the next project (and the first not out of necessity due to breaking something like a moron) may be to repaint the black center of my lower grille on the bumper. It's chipped so horribly, showing the copper beneath it. It's been painfully obvious for ages now that the body shop that redid my bumper painted the black portion in very cheap way. And the way it looks currently...it can't look much worse if I were to try my hand at it...

I went to that show in Prattville last year. They had a dog show at the same time, so I decided not to go this year. There was a woman walking around looking at cars with her dog on a leash and every time she stopped to look at a car the dog would stand on its back legs and put its paws on the car. I just went and stood between her and my car and gave her a dirty look. I figured it was better to come off as a a-hole than to have to kill her dog in front of her if he jumped on my car,lol. The SVT show in Buford was last Sat. I thought maybe you went to it.

I just found out Thur. that my nephew is coming thru town before being deployed to Afghanistan. Going to have a going away party at his parents house on sat. So I'm 23, have had my Focus for about 6 years, have many of the "generic" mods, and yet I'm just now for the first time actually doing something to it with my own hands lol Mirror is painted and drying, the new one to replace my busted mirror. And I decided to go on and pull off the grille surround and repaint it black, as it was copper but the paint on it was just shot. It's turning out better than the mirror so far, which wasn't "bad" but definitely my first shot painting. I'll redo it eventually. And all this I guess is practice to redo my lower grille on the bumper.

Time to give my baby the love she's be missing out on for the past year or two! May even get around to getting a buffer and learning how to wax the thing lol

The rx7 is coming along good. Roller rockers, valve springs, manual steering rack will all be here today. I'll have the block friday, and roller cam, thrust plate, gasket kit, guild plates will be here tuesday, and got next thursday off to finish it up, get the kinks out and hitting the track next friday. That's at least what I'm trying to do.

it helps to have no wife or kids... and i booted the gf.

but in all honesty i havent put much money into this car. it took less than $300 to get it running well. everything else i'm doing is to correct something else wrong. this intercooler and piping setup cost right around $370, and thats the highest about i've put into it. but i plan to go with a bigger turbo later on so i was going to need a better intercooler anyways.

ive pretty much just been ordering little things each week so i have something to work on in my spare time. I also am in the process of having the front and rear roll stop motor mounts welded solid. my buddy owed me some money so he's doing it for me. Already got the front one back from him and installed back into the car. It's going to rattle the car like a bitch, but that motor isnt moving!

Got my engine put back together yesterday. Going to pick a new timing chain set and then it will be ready to put in the car and start getting ready to fire up. Thank god roller cams don't have to be broke in.

I know this is random and last minute but does anyone close to me have a car trailer i can borrow for FR11? I tried around here but no one will let me take it out of state.

You might have to do like i have done in the past.Get a uhaul car trailer they ant to bad on price and you can get them quick.The place i use only charges me one day rental and i get to keep it all weekend.

Just find a really slow rental place that never rents stuff. They will be more likely to just tell you to bring it back whenever.

Carlisle was great. I got to drive a new focus, edge, eco-f150, lincoln mxs, mxz, fiesta. I was most impressed by the focus. Way better than the one I have now. And the fiesta was a huge let down.

I've been working on this Talon. I got it put back together and running last night. While it's been down i rebuilt the throttlebody, installed a FMIC, ss brake lines, welded solid motor mounts, and lowering springs.

I've been paintballing it up this weekend, I'd rather be at a meet to be honet but I still love it. I really miss the car crowds, we need to get together again before this baby of mine shows up.

Help me out here. Car won't start this morning. Battery is good. 1/4 tank. And I hear a trickle as it tries to turn over. Then I smell it. I look and there's a puddle of gas near the middle/rear of the car where all the lines seem to run. Y'all think it may be as simple as a busted fuel line?

I agree^^ sounds like either a line split or it came loose around the fuel filter.

Ok I'm thinking it's got to do with the fuel pump. Is it located in the same area? I can't feel an issue with the lines but can feel that the gas is coming from around that spot. And with a turn of the key just to the accessory/electric/whatever first click, that's when it spits it out. Dammit. Wish I had some sort of mechanical ability lol

The fuel filter is about a foot from the pump. The pump and pump housing are in the middle of the gas tank.

Turned out the clip that holds the line on at the filter snapped off. Random. Easy fix though, if only I'd have had it in a place I could have jacked it up and figured it out, I may have actually managed that one on my own. Instead of paying a $40 diagnostic charge on top of an hour labor. Geez. Oh well. lol

BTW. Rx7 pulled a 2.06 60ft time. 8.55 pass. Had a few minor problems. Only got to make two passes before they started being stupid at the track again. I know next trip I can easily get it in the 7s. My line lock fuse blew, so i couldn't warm my tires, and I wasn't able to rev past 5000 without fuel coming out the vent tubes. But hey, 8.55 with a motor that had less than one mile on it, and street tires. I was happy.

Mine is right below the half mark at warm idle, my intake cam gear is making a ruckess I know its the springs inside screwed up but I want know if its causing a low oil pressure. I'm replacing it soon but for 350 plus the time for install I gotta know where I'm sitting with this car.

I think that's where my oil gauge runs john,i will look this evening and make sure.

Thanks, im debating on the vct gear or my imrc first. I have had the imrc code for about 6 months now and the car drives like crap, my vct still works it just makes noise so if its not affecting my engine im getting the imrc, that and of course the lean condition im getting i hope will be fixed with it.

Mine sits at mid gauge at idle and between mid and 3/4 when driving.

Driving the SVT with the IMRC inactive and the A/c on = death. I tried passing on a two lane at 45 in 3rd and if I would have closed my eyes I would have sworn I was driving my SPI again.

Other than intakes and exhausts the general consensus is the performance side of the edge not very popular.

Now if you go the easy way out and buy a car with a turbo there are advantages, like since its only a 4cyl you won't be intimidated by doing a tune up there for feel better about your self mechanically. Or driving a automatic "sports car" could be a little better off for the aging man with comfort over performance mentality. Or how bout the pathetic attempt to still be cool by adding a blow off valve to the stock turbo system, that alone screams rice on all levels.... [hihi]

Yea the edge is a cool ride, my friend just bought a new one.I told him steeda is the only one that makes some good performance parts for it.I guess there ant no market for performance suv's.Saleen tried it for a few years with the explorer but fell short.I can only think of one performance type suv that was bad azz and that was the gmc typhoon. here is a link for all you young peeps that dont remember what it was.

As for performance SUV's they did make a SS trailblazer if I remember correctly, it was a supercharged 5.3 I think.

Im not sure on the ss trailblazer being sc,but i do remember seeing them around on the road.

Trailblazer came with a NA LS2. I <3 Lsx motors.

I have been lucky i guess,All i have done to lila's svt so far was a o2 sensor and its coming up on 145k....

I got a O2 code too...[:(]

I've been lucky with my 'ole reliable of a focus, though I'm just waiting for something major. 103k on the '05 and nothing out of the ordinary except the a/c compressor last summer, cracked wheel at Thanksgiving, and the recent fuel line clip thingy. Just waiting for something serious...

I want it but I don't think it would be financially smart, I just paid my SVT off this week and looking for a truck of some kind eventually. With Anthony due in 2 weeks I think a second SVT (while awesome to have a screaming yellow) would be bad at the time.

Well at 7:19 Wednesday morning my son Anthony was born. He weighed 7lbs 2.5oz and 20" long. 28hrs labor and a total of 32 hours straight awake, im glad hes out safely.
