Does anyone have any information on why Cosworth is pulling out of the Focus part line-up?

because ford made a new model, and cosworth doesn't want to keep updating parts

Will we still be ok for our mods?

Well I live 10 minutes from Steeda in South Florida and I just went there recently to check with them about modifications and they told me they would keep it to a limit due to lack of demand. I told them I wanted more and I told them about the site so the only way we can get more from Steeda is if we all email or call or go to Steeda ( in Florida or Georgia ) and tell them that there are people (us) that want more. I spent $1,200.00 this past week at Steeda and the majority went to interior and exterior. Cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, and there in house programer. I didn't dyno it but it does run better and pulls hard above 4,000 rpm. Worth the time and money. Just make the demands to Steeda and we can get our way

Off topic but I'm in Boca Raton too. Let me know if you need a hand installing parts or anything.

They aren't pulling out completely. The will still make intake manifolds, CAI's. The popular stuff people buy.

too bad they never followed through with the stage 3 Dpower kit.... it would have been killer

The thing is the stage 3 d-power kit consist of stuff they sale, its just not sold as one big package.

EDIT

I did some searching and found a price on the Stage 3 kit.

d-Power Stage 3
The Cosworth d-Power Level 3 kit for the 2.3L Duratec powered Focus Includes a new, modified cylinder head with larger intake and exhaust ports, reshaped combustion chamber, heavy duty valve springs, Cosworth forged connecting rods, Cosworth forged pistons, Level 3 camshafts and high flow fuel injectors. Level 3 is engineered to work in conjunction with Level 1 and 2. Estimated power output is in excess of 240 hp.
$4254.99

With that kinda price tag for just the stage 3 I doubt anyone would buy it.

if you got all 3 stages you would be basically building one of their cossie engines... but there would be alittle difference in price sinse their engine's start at 10k

so...

cosworth ain't the only one pulling out!

*ok, slap me, that was extremely immature AND lame, but i couldn't resist cause i'm bored*

but someone said cossie will still make CAI's and manifolds? anyone know for sure on that, cause i was wanting to get a cossie CAI before year's end, but can't at this moment...

Yeah but still. Personally I would rather piece it together than just buying the kits. Because as we all know cosworth is over priced, and you can build the same thing at a cheaper price.

Cosworth has really fine quality... shame their not going to support fully support us.

Not to mention you can build an engine of those power levels using other parts for half the price.

The reason the Honda market was so good, is that the engines stayed the same foe so long. The b16 and b18 was great for parts. Look how many engines Ford has had just in the Focus in the US.

Sad to see. I love my focus, and some of the cossie stuff is top notch.

My opinion on Cosworth = [thumbd]

I just found this out a few days ago. To my knowledge, no more flex pipes and race header, no more flywheels... though some dealers might still have some of this stuff in stock, which will not last long.

This seriously alters my desicion on a new car, and makes me pretty mad because I really like the 03-07 Duratec Focus's. The Duratec Focus is OFFICIALLY off the list of cars I'm currently looking at. If I do get a Focus at all, it will be a used SVT from carmax.. though the aftermarket is drying up for that as well, which I am keeping a birds eye on.

Yep...I've heard from Focus tuners (I.E. Steeda, FS) that cossie is still making CAIs and IMs.

And this is a major contributing Factor as to why I'm either going to get a new Si or the Volvo C30. Be my guest, Flame Away, but I have a serious problem with the limitations Ford gives us.

They offer nothing to us, and still expect us to be loyal? I think not. I hate to rant, but I'm seriously annoyed. They dropped the SVT Focus, big mistake, I would have loved a new body SVT(especially a sedan version).

Now they're bringing back the Escort look and taking away both the hatches, and the wagon(I love wagons for some odd reason). They claim the car is more stylish, but it's become bland and typical of that Ford grill, just like every Dodge(save for the Viper) has the same damn grill. I'm extremely unsatisfied.

I'm an ST owner, and I love it, but for it being the car to "replace the SVT" it sure offers nothing. Sure, it has some creature comforts as far as the red/charcoal seats, the Sony Audiophile sound system(not really bad for stock), and the exhaust sounds great for stock too. But for being a 2.3 liter, its weak with only 151 hp, where as the SVT was smaller with bigger numbers.

It just sucks to be us as Focus owners now, and that's why when I'm able to, I'm going to toss the Focus for something a bit more "user friendly" as far as mods are concerned. Don't get me wrong, the availability is great now, but it's fading away.

I wonder if Cosworth will still supply Catherham with their Ford based engines? Not sure if those engines had the same Cossie parts as the Focus D-power lineup. It's also suprising that more Mazda3/6 owners aren't buying these aftermarket parts from Cosworth for their 2.0/2.3L engines... assuming that they would work with the Mazda versions??
