Just wanted to vent a bit and let you guys know a interesting fact.

Story:

I was making a left turn on US 441 and there was one car in front of me that turned while the light was green the light turned yellow and I decided I had enough time to get through it... Guess not. The cop pulled me over and said "You know why I pulled you over right?" I said "I think so, I didn't make the light?" he then said "Nope but you were really close *laugh*." Grrrrr! So while hes in his car I'm hoping he will let me go with a warning since I've never even had a ticket before and then I start looking around my car out of boredom and see my odometer (trip meter) is .... 666 (I took a pic to ill throw up here when I get home.) I'm not really superstitious but I had a good feeling I was going to get a ticket. Well I got one for 192 bucks and 4 points on my license! Luckily I can take a stupid online class to dodge the points but I'll still have my fine.

Fact:

The state of Florida is having red light awareness month, so if your even questionably late going through a yellow light they will probably pull you over. So be careful!

wow thats good with the awareness month my sister in Miami has told me about the insane cluster[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]* that happens at every light when the light goes yellow. Basically you dont go when its green, you go when the cars are gone...

Its different in every state, in illinois you can finish gong through the light while its red, but in indiana you have to be done going through the intersection before it turns red.

Wow!!! I just got a speeding ticket the other day driving on a twisty backroad...CHP pulled me over...I was goign 77 in a 50!!! Yikes! The officer was like "I pulled you over because you were speeding." All I could say was "Yes, yes I was."

I hope they don't take 4 points off of my license! It will probably be more than $192.

Just be glad you all dont live here in missouri...

We dont get pulled over by cops anymore...they just take our picture and send our tickets in the mail!

^^im glad you really think that crap works. i havent had any tickets lately. <knock on wood> though i did get pulled over for having a headlight out. i pulled over as soon as he turned around. i didnt even get a chance to put his lights on. engine off, dome light on, hands on wheel. they love that stuff. no warning or anything just a "have a good day at work"

Had a friend with a blacked out jetta, he would take off his plates and run the lights late at night and wave out the window lol.

Another good thing to do in the northern states in the winter is put a bit of snow on your bumper barely covering the plate lol, or just don't clean off the snow if its a good storm.

i got a ticket in michigan at night for having a headlight out. its called a fix it ticket. i was driving home from class and i hit a big bird and it took out my headlight on my 89 park ave. just about a half mile down the road a cop pulled me over and handed me my ticket. he said he saw my light go out. what an ASS! i had 2 weeks to fix it. try finding a 89 park ave headlight housing. called just about every junk yard no one had the light i needed. so after visiting the police that issued the ticket trying to find out what i can do a couple of times. it was pay something like 300 or fix it i decided to try and fix it. well not even a month later i got pulled over and was told that i had a warrant out for my arrest. so after a couple of hours in jail and a court date and 300 bones i am here 2 years later. the law won!

The law is using the forward motion of the vehicle, if you are within reasonable area to enter the intersection while the light is yellow, but if you accelerate to get through a yellow light, that is where it is legal.

More or less, if you can stop you have the obligation to....if your rear end squats and it looks like you accelerated through the light you can get a ticket.

Got pulled over for the same thing................... Got a nice size ticket for running a red light and turning right when there was a no turn on red sign.... I got the points taken off by a class online to.. Make sure you get a good class that is easy... Now whenever the light turns yellow and its looks iffy if Ill make it I slam the brakes on.... One ticket works for me

That is why you got a ticket. If you were to say that you have no idea that you were going that fast and you were just managing to go safely through these twisty corners and didn't have time to look at your speed, you could have ended up with just a warning. But now that you admited that you have broken a law, he has no choice but give you a ticket.

Ya i will agree in the State of FL the cops are dicks. I got pulled over for have burned out plate lights.......and the car wasn't even mine (mom's mini van)

I got a speeding ticket for going 64in a 35, got the 4 pts but my fine was less then yours, 160$--it was a straight backroad which everyone flies on, when there are people on it >< This is in pa though

Got pulled over on state road 84 doing 70 in a 55 zone, I was in my JROTC uniform and the cop was a former Marine, got a smack on the hand and a salute. I love this country.

This is why I like living in a big city - the Atlanta police have a lot more to worry about than me making my left turn after the light turns red. ;)

Or if the cop needs to write more tickets to fulfill his/her quota for the month they can just say the light was red because that's all that matters. The light could be green or on blinker, but if the cop says it was red then as far as the court is concerned, it was red. Just like any other ticket...its the officer's word against your's and take a wild guess who's going to win in court.

I'd actually rather deal with red light cameras than officers, seeing as how I had a ticket completely thrown out (court costs and all) when a red light camera malfunctioned and took a picture of my car stopped at a red light. Had the ticket been generated by an officer I almost certainly would have paid the ticket rather than getting it tossed out. Although it says something when whoever reviews the red light camera's pictures to get the license plate number didn't realize I was stopped and still sent out the ticket anyways [rolleyes]
