: Dealers attitude, not sure if I should do more.

Our 2002 Focus began to hesitate and nearly stall after warming up in stop and go traffic for the last week. It has only 19,500 miles on it. I had suspected the Fuel Delivery Module thing and inquired on the Official Ford Focus site where we had registered our two Fords when they were new.

I was told to take the car to our dealer here in Pa. I dropped it off after making an appointment through their service tech.

The next evening after work I stopped to pick it up. I was told the Focus was done and ready. I signed the papers and drove it home. Until I got home it was doing the same thing but worse and so I immediately went back. The service manager who had been helpful and friendly in the past said to me, "We did only what the Detroit Service ordered nothing more!" He said it very strongly and took me by surprise. I said I thought you were suppose to register the car and go there. He said NEXT maybe you'll know better and call us first. They refused to drive the car at this point, even though I said it is still doing it and doing it badly. Again he said we only do what Ford tells us and I would have to make an additional appointment which I did for Monday.
I wonder if they even did the Fuel Delivery Module now. He let it slip about too much fuel in the fuel tank. I believe they will do it on Monday and say they did something else. Ford will reimburse them and we will pay for something they never will do.
Now today less than 24 yrs later our engine light has gone on. It will NOT go out as they do sometimes.
I will keep my appointment for Monday. But I am asking if anyone here would advise that after this is fixed should we let Ford know how badly we were treated and spoken to? O should we just let it go and pray we get better treatment in the future.

Can you take it to a different dealer for a "second opinion" maybe? I understand your frustration, dealers are such a hassle. When the YRF0 ECU reflash came out for the SVT, I went to the only SVT Ford dealer in my area, and asked for them to please perform the update as per the TSB because I was having those symptoms. They made me wait for a couple hours, then came to the waiting room and told me "well, we can't perform it because it already has the "latest and greatest" on it." Which of course was impossible, since I had owned the car for a long time before this update and had not previously brought the car in for any kind of service. What, does my car come with the secret satellite uplink option that automatically downloads the latest ECU updates??

Bottom line, DEFINATELY talk to Ford and tell them how dissatisfied you are.

BTW, I just noticed this is in the Feedback and Help Section. You're new so you can be forgiven, but this section is for questions or concerns relating to this website. [thumb]

I would give the dealer one more try to get it right, but any attitude shown, I would call ford direct and complain. ( I would call and complain anyways ) They are obviously not a blue oval dealer. If they are, it can be pulled if they get to many complaints. If they aren't a blue oval dealer, find one in your area and take your car there for service. It is well worth the drive.

Hey Dutchman, if ya live in the Lancaster area you might try Beasley Ford in York or Apple Ford in Red Lion. I've dealt with both over the years and have never had a problem or been treated with nothing but respect.
Also, I'd be on the phone to Ford Motor Co. and complain LOUDLY! There's absolutely no reason or excuse for an employee to be that ignorant. If you do go back to that dealer Monday, I'd demand to talk to the General Manager before I went back to the Serviuce Dept.
