: Question on Short Ram Intakes
claysax 08-05-2007, 04:27 PM Hi, i was just wondering if there is a short ram intake available for my 06 focus. I asked the dude at autozone and he said that there was no such thing because of the way the engine is. However, i wanted to check with you all before i called it quits.
Thanks
DURATECoftheDesert 08-05-2007, 04:49 PM autozone is lying, there just about the most lazyest people on earth.
There is a short ram for it and I saw it, look in there performance calalog.
if im not too mustaken try cross reference with the mazda 3, like i said I not to for sure if the way the intake are the same thing.
claysax 08-05-2007, 05:44 PM Awesome, i wouldn't have thought about the mazda 3. I wonder how hard it would be to install?
SVT_BMXer 08-05-2007, 07:01 PM First off, Autozone is not a performance shop. Generally they are filled with idiots. Second, they are easy to install, the hardest part is pulling the old airbox out.
strung 08-05-2007, 07:21 PM here ya go man....i luv mine.... www.steedafocus.com
claysax 08-05-2007, 07:38 PM i'm sorry but which one do you have, and is it a cold air intake
once again, real sorry if i sound dumb but i'm a total noob to performance mods and thought a short ram intake would be a good place to start.
claysax 08-05-2007, 07:45 PM Is it the "Steeda Cold Air Intake - Duratec - '05-'07"
Cause thats the one i'm leaning toward.
jwh172 08-05-2007, 07:51 PM steeda says it's a colda ir intake, but it's a short ram. I had to ask a few people before i got one too.
claysax 08-05-2007, 08:01 PM Thank you,

Check out that site too, they offer great prices and if you talk to ray and get signed up under focusfanatics, you get a 5% off of everything
jwh172 08-05-2007, 08:04 PM Also the steeda sri has a very nice sound to it when you get on the throttle at about 3000rpm's. It is one of my favorite mods
claysax 08-05-2007, 08:11 PM Honestly, the sound is probably what i want most. I mean pickup is good too but i really want to steer away from the bumble bee motor sound. As i understand it, the nicer sound doesn't really kick in until your past 35 mph.
P.S. i basically just said what you just told me
strung 08-05-2007, 10:02 PM yeah....the steeda sri is way pimp....i used to run a kn typhoon cai and it was cool too....but the steeda sounds a hell of alot meaner....im quite happy with the change.
realitychck122 08-05-2007, 11:16 PM I have the steeda as well, its sound great and looks really great as well!!
bumblebee07 08-06-2007, 12:04 AM I went in there the other day and looked through they're catalog. Most of the intakes short ram or CAI are like $200-$300. Thats ridiculous for some piping and a filter, so i'm making my own using a K&N filter and parts from the stock intake. Best part is that it can be either a short ram or a CAI depending on where you mount it. Cost? $70
claysax 08-06-2007, 01:08 PM My dad ordered it for me!!!!
How freakin awesome is that. He left a note on our computer this morning that said, "i went ahead and got your intake, see you tonight." And he left the receipt and confirmation number. I love my papa. I wonder when we'll get it.
Life Rocks
realitychck122 08-06-2007, 01:08 PM ya but with the steeda you get a full housing that goes around the fister to protect it as well. Really nice setup I scored mine used here for $75.00.
