With the reg focus the instructions say it should take the average person with a little bit of mechanical know how about 4 or 5 hours. Hope this helps

hrmm so 16h? im not too much in the mood for paying 1600 for installation, and then another 750 to tune it from the same place...is the procharger carb legal? because i live in california and the emissions laws are dumb

I'm pretty sure the Powerworks will make your car fail emissions... I know mine would fail emissions if we had that BS down here in Florida.

And you don't need it tuned by the shop, PW will reflash your ECU free if you send it back to them.

Procharger was pending last time I heard....PW is CARB legal...you have a sticker in your box for it....you don't have to pay for PW tune...it's included in the kit...I would find someone who can installit for sime firm price...not hourly based especially if they never did it before

Emissions
Unless otherwise noted, ProCharger systems for fuel-injected applications meet both EPA and CARB emmissions requirements and are classified as 50 state legal

In the info on C-F-M s website it says 5 hours by a do it your self. so with that its about 500 bucks so no more then that should be needed. Or hell if you lived by me i would help you do it for a small price ;)

It's finally here! Powerworks' first major powertrain performance upgrade - the "Focus Force" 2.0L, Zetec supercharger kit.

The kit adds a huge boost in performance and works with all body styles (hatchback, sedan or wagon) of 2000-2004 Focus 2.0L Zetec vehicles with manual transmissions. PowerWorks provides a complete, turn-key upgrade by adding an Eaton/Magna Charger M62, positive displacement, roots-type supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, complete CARB-legal calibration, larger throttle body, new air induction and ALL accessories required for installation.

Installation is straightforward and can be completed easily by competent do-it-yourselfers with basic tools in about 5 HOURS. No cutting, welding, or fabrication is required and the car can be returned to stock at any time with no undue effects. Even the smallest details have been addressed by Cosworth Technology's engineering team so that items usually ignored in aftermarket kits - like the vacuum lines and wiring harnesses - are "plug and play", requiring no modifications to the factory components.

Testing of the Focus Force Kit began in June 2004 and development has been non-stop since then. "The output is exactly what we have been advertising and it's real - verified by SAE engine dyno testing", said Mark Blaha, Chief Project Engineer. "We are seeing 220 hp at 7000 RPM, and 180 foot pounds of torque at the wheels, which is what we predicted early on", Blaha added.

The key to the successful power upgrade is the calibration. Based on Cosworth Technology's vast experience in providing calibration directly to several major auto manufacturers, the PowerWorks kit includes a comprehensively remapped engine control module that changes timing and air-fuel ratios throughout the entire rev range to provide much higher performance levels while still maintaining long-term durability. Further, idle quality, low-speed driveability, cold- and hot-weather capability, and complete on-board diagnostics are maintained in the PowerWorks calibration. Each kit includes a postage-paid package to return the customer's powertrain control module to PowerWorks for reflashing and shipping back to the customer within 24 hours.

The kit includes a 1-year (unlimited mileage) limited warranty.

PowerWorks will be expanding "Focus Force" to include a wide variety of powertrain performance products for the entire range of Focus models in the very near future, including some unique products, as well a supercharger kit for the largely-ignored automatic models. Look for additional PowerWorks powertrain upgrade components including supercharger kits for other makes and models in 2005.

Features Include:

* 220 hp at 7000 RPM at the wheels
* 180 lb-ft of torque at 4500 RPM at the wheels
* Air / Water / Air intercooler
* PowerWorks Calibrated Tune
* CAD designed & Packaged
* Eaton M62 Roots-style Supercharger
* Full emissions and driveability calibration

I'm maybe reading a differtent website...but on powerworks.net is stated :

Installation can be completed easily by competent do-it-yourself mechanics with basic tools in about 16 hours. No cutting, welding, or fabrication is required. Return your car to stock at any time, with no undue effects.

And yes you have to cut at least one piece from alternator bracket ! U have to move engine and if those bolts holdong flex pipe and muffler are rusted....and u don't have an impact gun...good luck ;-) Anyway.....my friend was installing one wit standard tools...I was there to help him...NO WAY in 5h !

If you drop the engine out of your car you can do it in 5 hours. That's what I'm going to be doing.

Yea for the SVT it takes about 16 hours but they have a reg focus. It takes less time then the svt does. thats where the extra time is from. but for the reg zx3 its about 5 hours i guess

Took me 6 days total. I mad a lot of little mistakes that were time-eaters, like jumping ahead and forgetting the electrical connectors that HAVE to be connected before the S/C goes in. And I was able to drop it in place by myself.
Be prepared for the oil filter relocation kit to leak from every possible connection.

I am/was a total novice and I installed mine by myself with some advice and guidance from these forums. If you're pretty new to this expect much more than the 16 hours if you're going slowly as you should. It probably took me 32 hours (not including an entire day or so to replace the battery harness, but that's another story) but again I'm a novice and was trying not to make any mistakes and still ran into a dozen confusing places (for me).

If you have experienced shops around you that you trust and can afford you may want to take it to them. If you do it yourself you'll feel great about it and have a better feel for what's going on if little problems arise. Please plan on longer than the 16 hours no matter what anyone on these boards says, unless you're a highly trained mechanic, but if you were you probably wouldn't be asking this question. Oh yea, if you dont have a second car to drive you may want to consider having it installed because it will take longer than you think.

As a total novice I completed mine and feel great about it but it was quite a challenge. I still haven't installed my boost guage because I'm just 'done' working on it for a while. Good luck whatever you choose. If you do choose to install it yourself PM me and I'll give you my number and give you a bunch of pointers...

take as much time as you need. at the fastest its gona take you 36-48 hrs to get it running again after you mail off the ECU and wait for them to reflash it and send it back. which should give you plenty of time to install it and 3x check ur work.

It's gonna be 20 hours on your own (shop time) if you are super meticulous with your fittings, routing, and electrical... factor in corrosion and the like on some nasty hard to reach bolts and connectors.

20 hours and 10 beers.

And I am prety handy.

I would love to see that video, I have been pulling my engine and tranny to put in new motor, and it's way, way, way more than 5 hours just to get the engine out, hoses drive lines, mounts, wiring fuel lines, just to name a few would take 5 hours by themselves. Im at about 20 hours into my project and engine and tranny are out, engine is ripped apart and at machine shop.

Powerworks will be here tomorrow ! ! ! WOO HOO i'm pretty much wound off my face. :-) Anyway, I plan on...we'll see what happens...but plan on making some time of supplement to the instructions of places where one may be confused or anything. I'll time it as well....though I plan on being extremely anal w/ this install and want to improve any looks where I think I can.
