well i finally got turboed. it cost me 15000 but here are the numbers

232 whp @ 5300 RPM/ 253 wtq @ 2200 RPM

that is stock for my SRT 4, the focus is still pretty much stock. i love the focus for the twisties but for the balls that my new car has it was worth the slight trade off in handling. i love the sound of that turbo spooling and the sound of the BOV when i let off or shift. f/i is definitely like crack. i'm taking it to the track on friday so we will see how the 'reviews' hold up.

I came from Neons, so I've got a soft spot for those. Love the seats, and they look mean coming down the road. Be prepared for a lot of "Congratulations trading down to a Neon" stuff - but I approve.

i kinda like them when i looked at them... i thought about getin rid of the fofo for it. then i was like hmmm... for about half that money (24k) i could get my fofo to out run and out handle an srt-4...not by a little bit but alot.. but i did like it when i test drove it... there is a guy in my town puttin down about 475whp in his... i hear its pretty insane.. i havent had the chance to run him yet though... soon i hope...[driving]

i got mine for 14850, pretty much the same price as a new focus, with almost twice the numbers. i would say that is a pretty damn good deal considering if i want to go stage 3 it will cost me 3200 but i will be close to what 03orangeSVT had his motor at when it blew the pistons, but mine will be able to hold it (no offense orange i worship your work because you are definitely one of a kind, but the stock internals that ford put in all our motors is crap compared to what other companies put in their equals to the focus)

Are you referring to Dodge with the SRT-4 being equal to the Focus engine-wise? [???:)] The Zetec/SVT motors were never meant to handle boost, so it would be rather pointless for Ford to put all forged internals in these engines. The SRT-4 puts out more than double the whp of a stock Zetec car (SVT excluded). If there was a production turbo SVT, then I would agree, but the way things are, it makes more sense to compare the Focus to a Neon model below the SRT-4.

both are good cars and both can make good power. but stock for stock they cant be compared. a focus is just not meant to be what srt4 is stock. stupid ford could have put a turbo on it but they didnt, lol.

While we're talking about insane turbo cars other than modded Foci... there's a dude around here with a 9 second Evo.

If somehow I could sell my Focus and get back most of the money put into it, I would get an SRT-4 in a heartbeat. They are incredibly cheap for the amount of power and potential they have.

I've been seeing them for sale online with about 30,000 miles for $12,500 to $14,000.

The problem with used performance cars, like the SRT-4, is you always have to wonder: is that 30,000 miles of driving to work and back going 70 on the highway, or 30,000 miles of the car running at redline with a driver that has no idea what the term "car maintenance" means. Unfortunately, some of the most car-inept people I know own some of the fastest cars. Yet, you would never know the car was abused and not taken care of just by looking at it.

I had a roommate that once went 20k miles before changing his oil. I took a look at it one day, and the oil wasn't so much "dirty" as it was black jello. [scream] Nasty stuff. The fact that the car ran decently was nothing short of a miracle.

You're right, and I would even venture to say that your statement applies to ANY car with a manual transmission, sports car or not.

turned up the boost and threw some other goodies at it and she goes 277whp and 290wtq. taking it to the track tonight to see what she will run. i don't have drag radials or slicks so launching will be a pain but i am shooting for a 13.8 or better.

congrats on the new car....... the srt4 is actually what i wanted i the first place but then i saw the focus saleen 4 cars down and fell in love with it,

the srt4 is way quicker, but i see about 1,000,000 of them everyday, so i guess its good i got the focus, because it has great handeling and i get alot of looks, compared to a car you see everyday,

have fun with the new car!!

I had a 2004 srt-4, that car was a riot. Easy to mod and easy to make power. Plus, the engine is damn near bullet proof.

just got back from the desert a little bit ago, had a ton of money to throw at the car, and figured i would give you guys an update. added a full turbo back exhaust(3" O2 housing and DP and custom 2.5 for the rest), turned the boost up to 19psi with a kinetic ajustable wastegate actuator(stock is 13psi), 2.5" intercooler piping(stock is 2.25) from turbo to intercooler and from intercooler to IM, fuel return line, and a map clamp to hide the actual boost from the PCM, racing motor mounts(no more wheel hop). full torque comes on at around 2800 rpm and power drops at around 5800-5900. will be getting a better front mount soon, and a turbo from Forwar Motion to replace the stock one. both(intercooler and turbo) are very inefficient from the factory. the stock turbo will only be efficient at 20-21psi. the Forward Motion one is the same turbo housing but different compressor wheel and what not, they don't give specifics on it though. the stock intercooler doesn't really cool the air down very well and it is only good until about 300whp, anything over that and it won't cool the air down enough.
