Well it's about that time, and I know it may be short notice but I'm extending an invitation to all forum members for a trip to the Tail of The Dragon.

Some of you may know what it is, and some may not, but basically The Tail of The Dragon is a section of US 129 That borders the Great Smoky Mountain Nation Park that consists of 318 curves in 11 miles. The area is beautiful and the road is a hoot to drive. The area also offers other things to do as well, such as white water rafting, canoing, camping and the like.

But enough with the sweet talk and down to the nitty gritty. In conjunction with one of the founders of Cleveland 6 Club (www.cleveland6club.com) (<--clickable), we've decided to make a run on the Dragon in mid August. Marlon (6waggin) and I are in the process of contacting local establishments to secure rooms for the weekend and planning this event. Marlon will be extending an invitation to Mazda 6 owners in the surrounding states as well so this isn't a Focus Only event. Come on out with us and have a good time!

We've decided to make a run on August 17th thru August 19th. If you've never been there and would like to go, or have been there and are itching to go back now's your chance. Post up and let me know so when securing rooms and such I have and idea of how many to have them hold for us.

Note: We would like to make this event as safe and as enjoyable as possible. This road is not a race course and should be handled with extreme caution. Please treat it as such. The area is heavily patrolled by the sheriffs department for speeding and reckless driving. If this event turns out well we would like to make this an annual thing.

daaamn,, un perfect timing,,crap.. ive been waiting to go with a group (any group) but we got a g2g at the gump here in alabama that same weekend,about 20 focis maybe more,, guess ill have to wait and make the annual run next year...have fun guys..

i would go but the beach festival and nopi i cant fit this in. i know focal-point is going around January

I cant go as well, that will be the last weekend before school starts for me, so i'd be BUSY getting ready for school instead.

that might be doable for me. If nothing else I can show up fri or sat and hang out for the day. Any idea where you might stay? Microtell in Robinsville has always been very good to us in the Christian Sport Bike club. Just watch out for the bikes! Nothing worse than a car blowing his line an crossing the line. 3000lb car v/s 500lb bike...............lots of pain..............

Right now since there hasn't been much interest we were looking at renting a house down there for the weekend. It's about 15-20 minutes away for The Dragon.(Two Sisters Inn, or something like that) If more people decide to go then we may move to a motel or something.

Think you might have room for me and my 11 year old son? If so, how much?
