Ok I now that this might be a dumb question but I am wondering if when you go over 350+ whp, will it take 93 octane. I am not wanting to go into race fuel. I am trying to stay with in Pump gas. I know that Tom and 03orangesvt will be able to answer this but if anybody else knows this just chime in.

yes..93 would be your best bet to control things that make engines blow up.

i think some sunoco's have 94 octane too, right?

When I got to 360whp we were pulling timing to fight off deto.... but that was with 10.2:1 compression.

Well thats good. I was just wondering because of the fact that V-8 can use pump gas till about 700+ horses. I didn't know if it was the same for I4.

What octane you use depends on how much boost and how high of a compression ratio you run, timing advance will also affect it.

V8 can make 700hp on pump gas cuz they have lotsa displacement. Also there engines most likely have lower compression ratio then our high 10.2:1

I will be lowering the compression alot. I will most likely go to either 8.0:1 or 9.0:1.
