I know this has probably been asked before, but I searched and came up empty handed. Anyways, if you could build an engine that you were planning on PW supercharging using the BBK from Massive, what compression would you use and why?

will if you want to make 300whp I'd go with 10:1
or the same as a SVT.So far the best I've seen is 291whp
It is safer to go with lower compression but with a good tune you will be safe. Its better to go with more compression than over spin the blow out of its limits

i would say if you had a supercharger which is somewhat bound to the power it can put out itself i would use a little higher compression than with a turbo. So in that i agree with catmostfeared

Stock and leave it alone the PW is going to start pumping so much hot air when under that higher boost that any good power it MIGHT make will be taken out in timing and lost from inefficiency
Its kind of like building a machine that is going to eat itself so why do it ?

Wouldn't a better radiator and 180 degree thermostat help this at all?

no, a larger intercooler to help cool the intake charge would help. But the M62 looses much of its effiecency after about 18 psi anyway, talk to the Cobalt SS, Saturn RL or Cooper S people and find out.

Come on TOM we know that machines don't eat themselves. They fight for a cube to save the entire human race. I also agree with cat :P

save your money it would cost to get the compression raised and put a turbo on that baby! [poke]

2.3 stroker kit from Focus Power would be sweet

powerworks is just an awesome bolt on, but if youre gonna spend the dough and build the motor up might as well go turbo

Yeah right lol if only that was an option for me.

Compression ratio has NOTHING to do with what kind of temps are comming from a blower!! The powerworks setup does a great job at keeping intake temps down. Even with the bigger boost kit, it showed no excessive intake temps on the dyno. The efficiency of the blower does limit the power to just under 300whp no matter what. The powerworks kit does respond to compression ratio changes, adding to the torque and hp. Since it's not a TURBO- you can't just crank the boost up a few pounds, so if you're building an engine anyway, go with slightly higher CR and a set of FI cams to make more power from your supercharger.
