on an internally wastegated turbo can you block off the wastegate and use an external?

reason i ask is i want a gt2871rs but i cannot find one that is externally wastegated and i rly rly do not want an internal....so if you could find me an externally wastegated gt2871rs or a block off plate thatd be nice. thanks

Just tig weld the flap shut. Thats what I do on a few of my turbos

as above. weld it shut, buy an external one and a screamer pipe and have it vent to the atmosphere...sweeeettt sound off it!
