Can someone please tell me, if the rally car can have all wheel drive, why can't this conversion be done to a regular focus? Excellant video!!

Simply put... because their transmissions cost more than a lot of people make in a couple of years before taxes. Also the cars are built like this and don't require a massive amount of work to get one to fit. Here's an interesting read:

Yes, those cars have all wheel drive. It, for one, is way too expensive to just go buy unless you have VERY deep pockets. The trans and AWD setups in those cars cost more than $40k used.

Argh! Watching this just makes me ticked yet again that SpeedTV ditched the WRC coverage. And them still showing that rally snippet in the "Speed Report" commercial is just another [nutkick]

Anyone know a way to get broadcast-quality WRC video in the states? DVDs, paid online streaming, torrents, anything?

Guess I'll have to fire up some Richard Burns Rally on the PC...

If you find a wrecked Jaguar X-Type, you can do an AWD swap from one of them if you have a 2005+.

now that is the way a focus should move!! simply amazing, i really wish an AWD conversion was'nt so expensive.

i really like to watch WRC and i thought that maybe we should all see what the focus was really made to do. if you go to youtube and just type in Focus WRC it will come up with a few more. they are really sick.

The trans and AWD setups in those cars cost more than $40k used.

And even then...its not like if you bought a used transmission and all the corresponding parts for the AWD it would just bolt right up to your car. The WRC cars go through a ridiculous amount of modification...it would probably be easier and cheaper (considering all the custom-made parts you'd have to get) to just buy a used WRC car from M-sport...http://www.m-sport.co.uk/html/carsforsale.asp?language=english

just to chime in on the AWD set up. You don't have to have rally parts to have the AWD. I was dickin around and found someone had takin i think a ranger... the 4 cyl one, and the 4x4 set up from an explorer, and with some custom fabrication he was AWD, lol, lil evo.

I wish I could afford a suspension that could handle that.

Badass car for sure. But I'd rather have an AWD turbo Focus that I could daily drive.

dang. the suspension on that thing's amazing.

i'm not big into rally racing. are races on snow/ice common? i always figured dirt was the norm. either way, that's fun stuff right there... harder than dodging detroit potholes in january.
