IMO Your shifting is a little rough, or your clutch is slipping a little. Cool vid though, thanks

LOL

Actually no, you're wrong on both counts. But I give you points for trying to pay attention though!

I've only got 7k on my car, so the clutch is still brand new. If a clutch is slipping, you'll hear the engine revving up some on each shift. But if you listen to the video again, you'll hear just the opposite (the engine dropping down a bit in revs as the clutch is engaged).

You didn't hear the tires break loose on the 1/2 shift because the road and/or the tires had something on them. From inside the car, I heard the tires spinning pretty darn good.

When I recently went to the drag strip (with their clean 400' concrete lauch pad) the tires hooked up so good that the car shuddered and lept forward. Hardly no bark whatosever.

Hope that explains things for 'ya!

My muffler shop already uses a "Turbo" muffler.

Flowmaster not required! [;)]

Thanks! And believe it or not, my new camera was only $99 at Walmart.[thumb]

http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/04/47/01/00/0004470100755_150X150.jpg

With this camera, I can make a video at either 640x480 or 320x240, and at a framerate of either 30fps or 15fps (I used 640x480@30fps).

All I needed to get was:

a 1gb SanDisk ExtremeŽ III SD Memory Card ($49)
a pair of Lithium batteries ($6)
some Super Velcro mounting strips from K-mart ($3-$4)

Perch that baby on top of the dash, and you're ready to go!

Film times per resolution is as follows:

1hr 28min. @320x240/15fps
49min. @320x240/30fps
25min. @640x480/15fps
14min. @640x480/30fps

And of course, all of those times can be doubled by using a 2gig memory card.

I'm curious as well, where are you located? The area looks really familiar.[scratch]

:EDIT: I caught a glimpse of the sign in the beginning of the video... headed towards Schenectady. I am located in Oneonta, just a short trip down I-88.

You're gonna have to be a little more techincal in your words b/svt, 'cause the phrase "dumbin the clutch" has no meaning to me whatsoever.

Ditto.

^See above response.

Me? I'm located in Upstate N.Y.

But as to where the guy in that video came from ...

Who knows?[paranoid]

Well after after each shift it sounds like your engine is drowning. Maybe your giving it to much gas while your engaging....sorry but I'm not a racer and my technical phrases are not up to speed.

Okay, I see what you're saying.

Nice Vid,

But I agree with st-2k5, bvryfst and rockthezx3. You need to get your shifting down. Sounds as though your either letting out the clutch too slowly or you're giving it too much gas before the clutch is fully engaged. You keep driving like that and you won't have a clutch for very long. Just my .02

nice vid, i do agree with dumping the clutch but i think he either wasn't taking his foot off the gas as he shifted or he gave it a lil to much gas like you are saying but all in all good vid keep up the work!

That shift from second to third gear was absolutely brutal.. If you listen clearly you can hear the clutch is under heavy stress. I'm with lildisco, a few more runs like that and you could kiss your clutch goodbye. The art of shifting can sometimes be hard to achieve but it can be the difference between winning or losing a street race.

Thanks for all your replies guys, but like I said, I was purposely going easy on the shifting. That is'nt how I normally drive.

After all, I can easily powershift 1/2 and 3/4 no problem (2/3 powershifts should not be attempted on any car w/o a short throw shifter).

Maybe I should take a vid for everyone of me doing just that ...

BTW, nice vid M/M - but stay safe bro!

Are you kidding or what? You are WAY over exaggerating man. I'm not even close to kissing the clutch g'bye shifting like that. And I've raced at the drag strip long enough to know what will/will not kill a clutch.

And that won't.

^^^^ Now that was some smooth shifting!!! Sounded bad ass too!!!

But it still wasn't powershifting. I'll try to make a vid of me doing that so I can give you an idea of what a real shift sounds like.

Because I tell 'ya what ...

They don't give you one of these in NHRA Bracket Racing:

Unless you can shift perfectly, run, after run, after run.

P.S. That 'Stang also had a Hurst Shifter, so I even powershifted the 2/3 shift when winning that trophy.

First off, the gear changing was just fine. So we'll just have to agree to disagree then, and let it go at that.

Secondly, I don't care for hatches and never will. I wouldn't take one if they gave it to me for free, even if it came in that powerful but garish looking 263hp Mazda Speed 3 (damn waste of a good engine on an eyesore of a bodystyle).

Other than that, I agree with everything you said ... [;)]

if it isnt your shifting then something is catching because when you shift the rpms shouldn't jump up they should drop as soon as that clutch is pressed to the floor I think that is what everyone is trying to say about the shifting

I guess I'm just too damn good at shifting fast.

Something I must have perfected after years of flawless powershifting.

Thanks!
