I figure this forum might be a little bias towards the Mazda but you never know I'm curious which one you guys would go with and why? I'm considering getting one of the two.

GTI, less power sure, but also smaller, i love small... Also it comes in a three door and the new rabbit platform is suposedly killer

the new gti-- better resale value less power but all you have to do is spend 500.00 at apr tuning and you will be making more then the mazdaspeed3 plus the interior is way nicer and the 3 door hatch is a plus i personally hate four door hathes- too wagony looking

mazda cause you can add more power to that and IMO it is a better performer.

idk bout the aftermarket for the gti, but the mazda should have a lot of options. and is likely to be more reliable. though the gti is hot. very sharp looking. but the mazda is a little more practical, especially if you really need the extra doors.

Some guy on here has a MS3, with the MS CAI it makes 323 lbs/ft of torque on the dyno according to his signature.

gti, no question to me. get a tune, suspension, 3" exhaust, and intake and i think you'd have a much more fun car all-around.

GTi. If the Mazda had a 3door model then I may go the other way, but they don't.

I actually had the keys to the MS3 yesterday evening. I also looked at the Fareinhite(sp?) limited edition GTI. Both very nice. I would go with the MS3. I like the stability control. Makes the car a lot more predictable.
I didn't get any pressure from the dealer to buy, which is a plus in my book.

Meh, if I had to pick between the 2 I'd say VW. If I didn't I have to say Mini Cooper S or Civic Si.

Speed 3. Other than the problem people are having with the motor mounts on them, they are pretty [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]g sweet. Mazda > VW anyday.

The GTI is a nice car, and has a killer DSG tranny, but the mazda will be more reliable i think, VW is not known for their reliabilty. And, idk if i like the idea of a company that uses Plaid in their interiors.[scratch]
