i was just wondering of anyone on here has had there focus broken into? just trying to see what the cost is going might be, mine did not get messed up, it has a viper pager alarm but my wife's durango shows signs they tried to bust the lock cyclinder off and the plastic cover piece is torn like they tried to put the screw driver or something through it. called the police for extra patrols, not sure on that one, but its all they offered. and until tomorrow i won't have full coverage ins on the durango cause its paid off. thanks for listening and for any feed back.

Had driver's side rear panel broken and they stole a briefcase.
About $280 to fix...
Sorry to hear about your situation

Leave a LARGE snake in the car...Real or fake...

Seriously, the only thing you can do is try to keep it in a well lit area and have a pager type alarm. The police won't be of much help ( but good to try ). Keep your eyes open as best as you can.

yea i figure the police won't be much help, but at least they know so maybe they can set a bait car or something and they will attempt that instead of mine. i have a pager alarm, it works very well and seems that's what they tried to see if i had one, but they tried to punch my wife's door lock cylinder, no $172.00 later new door handle and lock cylinder. thanks for the feedback.

Nope. Texas are you parking on the street or in your driveway? That would really suck if it was in your driveway/home. If they pop you lock and mess up you door it could get costly to repiar. Hopefully it won't happen again.

FYI, failed attempts at getting your car broken into are far more likely to be attempted again. Perhaps a battery kill switch is in order?

However, the vandal took a large chunk of concrete and tossed it at the car. Two tries later (as evidenced by the dents in my quarter panel) they managed to bust the right rear quarter glass. $1k in paint, glass, and body work later, and she was good as new. Never the same again though. It happened about one month into ownership of that car. Up until I gave up on it due to the electrical system giving out, I still found chunks of glass (after several professional cleanings and massive vacuum jobs over the years).

My car has been broken into twice, with windows broken both times.

First time was right in front of my house in the middle of the night. They broke the rear hatch window with a spark plug, and stole all my audio out of the trunk (2 12's in the box, 1200w amp). I have no idea how they got in out of that window, the box was huge!

Second time, the front driver's side window was bashed out... stole nothing...

If you don't have full coverage insurance, get an alarm... most of the alarm companies will cover the bill if you get anything taken from you.

I would throw a coat around the seat and slap a baseball cap over the headrest to make the car look occupied.

Now would be a good time to get an entry level alarm system with a perimeter motion detector. It'll save you some bills if they do try to come back again.

Tip: I leave my webcam on pointed out the driveway to watch over my car. I just record the whole evening and only go back to watch it when necessary.

Had my SVT broken into in my carport in the middle of the night. Broke the passenger window and stole my old and hardly working radar detector. They didn't even bother with the aftermarket headunit or sub. :) That actually sucked more, as I was going to replace the radar the next week with a new one, but ended up spending the money on replacement glass. Oi. :)

thanks for the feed back, so far so good. i think the "viper" alarm keeps most at bay, its has the pager option, just that night i did not have it in the room when i was asleep, won't happen again. they just hit the car and found it had an alarm so i guess they moved on to my other car/suv. they tried to punch the drivers side door lock cylinder, need less to say $172 is what it's going to cost me. will see this weekend, might have to sit in it with the 9mm..i can see it now "cop" why did'nt you aim for the leg? "me" i was aiming for the leg, he ducked so he got it in the head...lol i guess my worst fears is some punk doing it just because, and if they are under age will just walk to do it again.

Crime is everywhere. I chased off a kid who was casing everyone's cars this past summer. Lifting doorhandles and crap like that. He had balls....there's seven cops that live in my subdivision. I deducted that he wasn't from the area or he would've never even thought about it.

Yeah but different cars are in demand by thieves in different places. My brothers Scion has been almost stolen multiple times in beaumont. Just making sure the foci isnt on a hit list :)

Heavy tint is a must, limo it all with a sunshade in the windshield. What they cant see , they probably dont want. Next , turn your radio down a few minutes before you get where your going , never crank they tunes close to home. Last hide what you can , CD case , removeable face , dayplanner , Ipod etc etc.

that works ;)
