wow...well I'm sorry, but why the hell would you put the track around a barrier like that if you KNOW he won't be able to drive the car that great!?? That's just stupid!! If you needed that barricade there, then put it by a straight where your more than likely not gonna hit it. that was a stupid track setup

Idiot...

I saw that on the news as well and the video.

That wreck never should have happened for 2 reasons:

1. They never should have run that track with concrete barriers and cones Far too tight with NO run off room at all. It was unsafe.

2. All he had to do was brake. The Enzo has brakes the size of wagon wheels mated to 8 piston calipers. If anything was going to hit the wall, it should have been his eyeballs as they popped through the windshield when he stabbed the pedal. He never hit the brakes.

Hahah... oh well, I never liked the Enzo anyway. Another one bites the dust. In any case I really don't understand why some of you act like you know how to drive the thing. No offense, this is with an "all due respect" kinda tone, but have you ever been behind the wheel of a car with that much power? I doubt it. It's probably not as easy as it looks to drive.

I have.

I am an instructor in the Northern VA area and spend a LOT of time at Summit Point.

While I haven't driven an Enzo, I have driven more than a few exotics, highly modified street cars, and one ALMS Viper.

No offense taken. [:)]

I agree with you in the fact that the barrier should not have been there. I also think there should have been an instructor with him in the car, esp a car like that. Mostly, I am laughing at how that car pushed right out of its turn, I would have expected a lil better from a car like that [dunno]. What even funnier is that there are probably a few cars on this board which would have handled that turn at that speed in a much more graceful fashion. Focus FTW!

This much...I KNOW !!! You got that right!!

The Enzo is an engineering marvel, but the truth ot the matter is that it is the size of a tuna boat!!!

It's not an AX car by any stretch of the imagination...not a tight handling car at all.

I watched that today. Only 400 made and I remember hearing that to have Ferrari even consider letting you own an Enzo, you have to have owned like 2 or 3 of their super nice older models and plus there's a huge waiting list.

Stupid celebs...[chair]

why dumb so much?[screwy]

According to Ferrari of Washington, there is an average 2 year waiting list for Ferraris. That EXCLUDES the Enzo and the Panamericana.

Here's the kicker. Let's say you are Joe Schmutly that wins the lottery and decides that you should own a Ferrari. You've always wanted one. So, with a pocket full (OK a truckload) of money, you trundle down to the local Ferrari dealer.

You pick out a nice red 360 Modena. They say thank you very much and you ask "So, what's the down payment?"

"Oh no sir, that's not the way it works. You can purchase out right and can take delivery of the car when it arrives or you can put down a sum and we will put you on the waiting list."

You agree to the waiting list. How much you put down depends on where you are placed on the list. Now the double whammy. If a current Ferrari owner comes in to purchase that same 360 Modena, they are placed higher on the list because they have a history with the brand.

About this time, you get a phone call from the sales person a month or so later. He/she explains that it will probably be 18 months at the earliest before they can place you in a Modena. In the mean time, you want a Ferrari. "I have a nice Testarossa with very few miles just come in that I think you would love."

This is when they explain to you how to buy a brand new Ferrari. Buy used, drive for 6 months to a year, trade it in and get bumped up on the list. The irony is that you get bumped up and it is still 9 months to a year before you see the brand new car...

I think from what i read on this story he did try breaking and slid into the barrier....the video sound may not have picked it up....we all know that videos on the internet don't have the best sound quality.

Nope. No braking. He tried to hold the corner. From that angle, under braking, you would have seen the nose dive. Perfectly straight and turned the wheels too late.

The local news here showed a different angle, and the brake lights never came on.

Still, he's an IDIOT!
