I went to the greater Milwaukee Auto Show last night, and I just wanted to share some thoughts.
First off, I do think the Taurus and Taurus X are more appealing than the 500 and freestyle they replace. They have more power and the grille improves on the looks a bit.
No 2008 focus at the Ford exhibit (WHAT!)
The Edge is a nice vehicle, and the price seems very competitive. On the downside, the sloped roof really cuts the amount of rear cargo space.
They had a 3 Smart cars at the exhibit- all were selling for over 25k. 60mpg is tempting, but not at that price! I sat in one- legroom is decent (although I'm only 5'10") but it felt very narrow. My left arm was pressed tight against the door.
The Jeep Wrangler unlimited was very cool (but expensive at 27K) and seemed like a pretty useful vehicle- seats 5 comfortably, has a removable hard shell on the rear, 4wd (of course), and decent cargo room. All four doors can be easily removed for open-air cruising.
The knobby tires and removable shell would probably make for a noisy ride though.
The Kia Rondo was there- seats 7 and gets decent mileage, lists for just over 20k. It just looks kind of bland, and I wonder how well that 4cyll. would do when its fully loaded.
I also sat in a little Mazdaspeed 3. The sticker was just over 24k. Really and impressive little car for the money. They really paid attention to the details in that car.
The cx-7 and cx-9 were equally impressive. We also looked at the mazda 5, but wern't really impressed. It costs 2k more than the rondo and doesn't have near the utility.
I wasn't aware that chevy made the cobalt SS as a 4-door, but they had one there last night.
