ps the code is p1383
This is for timing belt replacement, but it should also cover the cam timing:

so there is not a special way to set the timing with the zetech cause i know the intake cam sprocket can turn freely... im guessing you just set the belt on the sprocket in the nuetral position??? thanks for the help hopefully i can time it right this time when i have the tool
Ah man, the only answer I have at the moment is the link provided earlier.
I do know that goinloco1 is getting to be an expert at cam setup though.
Hopefully he'll chime in here shortly.
Course, there's a few others on this site that have gone through this too.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more response.
BTW...It's ZETEC...and that's just the engine model itself.
You don't make ZETEC "work", nor do you kick the ZETEC in.
What there is though on the SVT-ZETEC engine is VCT or Variable Cam Timing.
^^^I'm just saving you from the rash of inflammatory posts that are sure to come. [;)]

lol o ok i didnt know that see you learn something new about these cars more and more lol but i am sure there is people out there that has timed the focus so i guess i will have to wait for a responce from them cause i am just wondering if you have to put tention on the vct sprocket or you just leave it alone (in neutral position) and just put the belt on thanks

Ok, ready for a quick run down.
1) Manifold Cover and Spark Plugs out.
2) Take out timing pin plug and put in pin.
3) Turn crank til you touch pin and Cly #1 is a the top, this is Top Dead Center
4) Insert cam timing bar
5) Take off timing belt pulley with allen wrench
6) Remove belt and Cam gears.
7) Reinstall in reverse order. Be careful its not for non-mechanically inclined.
If you have not installed TB yet, do not try, leave it to professional.

a timing belt could cause you an engine if you dont know what your doing....so take it to a shop and save yourself some money in the future.

does any one know how to time an svt focus
Very carefully. Its an interference motor. One mistake and you just bought yourself another SVT zetec engine.
If you don't know what you're doing, take it to someone who does know.

YOu can use tuning software to set other timings. Ask Tom in the Focus-Power forum here on FF.
