: New MPG estimates

A new report came out saying that the MPG on peoples cars are actually alot lot lot lower. The MPG on the stickers are not true. Here is a little break down.
New MPG estimates below
2001 Focus automatic--- 22 city/29 highway, 24 combined
2001 focus manual------ 25 city/32 highway, 28 combined
2004 focus automatic---21 city/28 highway, 24 combined
2004 focus manual------22 city/30 highway, 25 combined
2007 focus automatic---23 city/31 highway, 26 combined
2007 focus manual------24 city/33 highway, 28 combined
This is just to show some of the actuals for these models. Sticker MPG for all of these models were 4-6 MPG more. Don't feel bad if your MPG is less than sticker. The new MPG's are what you should go off of. If have an 04 automatic and I do get the new MPG calculations.

I have gotten as bad as 24mpg and as good as 39.5mpg in my '05/5sp. I average about 28 going to work and back, and about 35 on the hwy.

omg is this for real? one of the biggest reasons i bought this Focus was for good MPG [V]
btw, do you have any links for this new information? and out of curiosity, what's the new MPG estimate on 2005 ZX3 manual?

I have a 2000 Focus, manual trans, and I regularly get 30-35 in the city, and sometimes close to 40 on the highway...

2 fillups ago, I got 18.xx mpg, but it jumped back up to 26.xx last fillup. I have a 2.3 liter 5spd btw. I use alot more gas when it is cold out.

I drove to San Antonio today with a total distance of 175 miles on 7 gallons averaging 25mph with the a/c on the whole time.

funny I used to get 27mpg exactly driving the way I do (which is aggresive) but after my motor swap I get 24mpg I should've kept the old motor lol

lol, now this makes me wonder if going with the new exhaust will improve the MPG. By the way, on my last post I forgot to mention that I drove up there agressively(not by the speed limit)

On straight hwy mileage, I am consistantly over 31 mpg, and that's doing 80 with the A/C on.

How did you manage to dig up an old mpg thread? (not complaining just curious)
btw I have my window sticker in hand from my '01 says 25 city and 33 highway. So with this supposed change I loose 1mpg highway. whoop-to-do.

^^^yeah most of the new 08' epa laws most car lose about 1-2 mpg off of there old sticker not too bad.

2003 ZX3 2.0 Zetec 5spd, avg combined= 33, if gas is 10% ethanol,,, 35 if no ethanol.

This is true for every model car made before 2008. In 08, the EPA changed the way they do mileage testing to better reflect avg. driving habits. Every vehicle on the market lost mpg on the window sticker going into 2008 even if there was no change in mechanical design of the car.
