: The Death of a Focus
02-21-2007, 10:05 PM
I don't really post here much, but I've had my Focus ZTS for over three years and I babied it, saved it from being totaled twice already, until yesterday. Now it is in that big shop in the sky.
I thought some of you may be interested, so I posted some pictures on my site.

I tell you what, it's been proven again and again, a Focus can really take a hit. Seems as if it's gotta happen, it's a good car to have it happen in. Glad you were alright!
02-21-2007, 11:14 PM
Damn, you ok? Took quite a shot there. Heck, it ain't so bad, 3k in plastic, new radiator, some bondo and duct tape, you can save her a third time, lol
<taps plays in the background, fading slowly>

Wow those are some crazy pictures. We're all glad that you survived a head on collision at those speeds. It sucks that you had to part ways with the car like that but hey, you can always get another car.
When all of this happened, did the car that you avoided hitting stop at all? I would've gotten his info so he could be properly ticketed for being a moron.
Half mast for this beautiful sedan no more......
02-21-2007, 11:32 PM
Yes, this car did save my life! No, no one from that side of the hwy even bothered to stop. Apparently there are traffic cameras in the area, as far as I know the police are checking them!
02-21-2007, 11:46 PM
There should be an offical R.I.P thread
02-21-2007, 11:50 PM
Sorry for your loss man....
02-22-2007, 12:01 AM
Holy CRAP!!!! I'm really glad to see that you're alive. It's also ironic that an insurance company sign got hit, don't you think? Heheh. Anyway, those pictures speak for themselves. Having personally totalled my first ZX3 with a driver side impact from an Ford Econoline van (doing about 30), I can testify that the Focus is indeed designed very well with safety in mind. The interior cabin space holds up extremely well, and in many cases you'd never even know it was in an accident until you stepped out and looked at the exterior of the vehicle. God I love these cars!

Glad to see your okay!!!
02-22-2007, 12:39 AM
aaaw man that sucks! but glad your okay :-)
02-22-2007, 01:02 AM
So, since it did such a good job, are you going to replace it with another Fofo?
02-22-2007, 02:11 AM
02-22-2007, 02:33 AM
It's still good!
02-22-2007, 06:37 AM
Thank God you walked away from a crash like that.
02-22-2007, 03:00 PM
Yes, I have become a dedicated Focus driver, and will be purchasing another! Thanks for the support guys!
02-22-2007, 03:17 PM

thats nuts, what did you hit???
read the link, has the story.
It goes like this. I was heading home from a dental filling on 146 Southbound through Woonsocket. There is a terrible ramp to turn onto 146 Northbound, literally feet after the 146/146A merger. The car in front of me obviously missed his turn and came to a near stop, leaving me no choice but to cut the wheel, sending straight into the frozen marsh of grass and ice in the median, and head on into the path of a full size, Ford Econoline van on 146 North. We hit head on at about 50 to 60 mph. I spun around in a 180 stopped facing toward 146 Southbound. The van hit a wooden fence and Insurance Company sign and ended up in the parking lot. We both walked away with no injuries, except a burn on my forearm from airbags, and a sore thumb for him. Sorry to be morbid, but I really thought I was going to die when I saw the van coming northbound, as I was obviously sliding southbound, both travelling at the posted speeds. What I felt when I fell out my door and realized I was stil alive, words can't describe. The car and my seatbelt saved my life, I would not hesitate to buy another.

....needs a drop.
Seriously though, its wonderful that you and the other guy are both ok!
02-22-2007, 03:53 PM
Glad to hear you're OK!
02-22-2007, 04:06 PM
What model focus are you going to replace it with?
02-22-2007, 04:27 PM
Good to see your OK. These are very safe little cars.
02-22-2007, 08:32 PM
Yes, what type of Focus are you planning on buying?
Also, keep us updated on whether or not they find that guy responsible for the accident!
02-22-2007, 09:50 PM
Shooting for an SVT down here in RI, also depends on how much the insurance company wants to give me. It sucks cause I put a lot of money into the car, I hope I can remove the two rear wheels, I have two identical spares in my garage I could pair them up with.
02-22-2007, 10:50 PM
that'll buff right out...
02-22-2007, 11:04 PM
Glad to hear that everyone its ok... i fell more safe than ever... because i drive a focus ... still, watch out for others drivers and share the road... there is plenty of it...
02-23-2007, 09:12 AM
How two people can walk away from an accident like that (head on) is a testiment to the safety features built into cars these days.
Glad you walked away.
02-23-2007, 05:08 PM
damn...that's a rough accident there!!! Good thing your ok man!
03-08-2007, 10:50 PM
Well, I've had her for a few weeks but I finally got the dealer plates off today, 2003 w/ 40,000mi. I am pretty excited to 'pimp' this one out all over again, love the color. Insurance gave me $6200 - $300 deductible for my poor smashed one.
Here's old Focus meet new Focus.
03-09-2007, 02:48 AM
aww it looks so sad to see the hurt little focus :( haha...nice new ride man! I like it a lot!
03-09-2007, 12:00 PM
Damn, but let's hear it for the survivability of the Focus passengers! :D
Good luck with the new wheels!
03-09-2007, 01:39 PM
glad your ok man....just wondering , did the air bags deploy? i know that they should have but lately some focus owners have claimed theirs did not deploy in a wreck.
03-09-2007, 02:22 PM
Now that your ReFOCUSed (that was cheesy),you should come to one of the local G2G. Watch the regional forums
03-09-2007, 03:02 PM
I'll keep an eye out on that forum! Yes, the airbags both deployed, thank god.
03-14-2007, 10:37 PM
For anyone who's interested, heres the front page of the Feb. 21st Woonsocket Call Newspaper!
Also, unbelieveably I was able to recover all four rims, all in mint condition!
