: Now that wayne is gone what do we do?
R00ST650 02-20-2007, 01:15 PM I have been running the most recent tune I got from wayne (which was flashed to my car over a year ago) and have had pretty good results from it. The one thing that bothered me was that he said he could do the TC delete (completely off) on a tune for rla6 but we never got the no tc tunes to work (would flash and run correctly but tc was same as stock). I was considering doing the tc delete switch but was wondering if anyone has dyno'd tom's best tune against waynes best tune? I thought I had seen a dyno awhile back comparing the two and waynes was a few hp/tq shy of tom's?
I was just wondering if there is another tuner who is making better tunes for the svt now and if it would be worth a change (I still have the good old xcal1!) I was also hoping to eventually go with some boost so thought I could upgrade tuners/tune now and at least have that aspect of it knocked out for the future.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
texassvt 02-20-2007, 01:34 PM i am just wondering if there is a better tune out there? i also have the old xcal1 unit and have added the random tech high flow cat and now an intake. if anyone knows where to get a better tune or at least an updated one please let me know with a PM e-mail sonething. thanks
luderchris 02-20-2007, 02:46 PM Everyone seems extremely happy with Tom's tunes, so I ordered mine this week.

b16sir1991 02-20-2007, 03:32 PM I was a huge supporter of Wayne while he was here, but since he isnt doing this anymore, i decided to check Tom out. I have to say since i have made friends with him, he really knows what he is doing. Fun to be around also. I have seen him "doing his thing" with the dyno and tuning and its like watching a good piano player play. Its second nature to him probably because he has been at it for so long, so dont hesitate in the least to contact him.
avengerc4 02-20-2007, 03:55 PM yah after I got shafted by Wayne I figured I wasn't gonna get a tune. Well last week I figured I'd order one from Tom so we'll see when it gets here :D
ken6x6 02-20-2007, 04:12 PM i had a prob. with my xcal2 and had to jump threw hoops to get it looked at. i finally went to CFM and they helped me get it to SCT directly and then got shiped back from CFM. i might have to contact tom about his tune.
texassvt 02-20-2007, 07:15 PM so can anyone tell me since i have the xcal 1 unit can i still get toms latest and greatest tune? would love to see what kind of gains i can get now that i have a couple more parts on the car.

Amen.
itbparada 02-20-2007, 09:50 PM Im VERY happy with the tune I got from wayne, he just NEVER sent me any updates even after I spent the time data logging and sending it to him for fine tuning.
Im still looking for someone that does XCAL2 tunes that will take a look at my data-log and fine-tune it if need be.
RhodySVT 02-20-2007, 11:24 PM I've had Tom's tune for 1.5 months now and it really makes a big difference in how the car responds. It had a bit more peak power but the best part is the step off power is so much smoother and doesn't bog, this alone is worth the cost of admission. I couldn't even imagine driving the can un-tuned again. I would hate it.
focusfrost 02-21-2007, 02:54 AM I am in the same situation as you texassvt I have the xcal1 unit and a very good tune from wayne for about a year and a half now. with no issues and the tc delete works fine. but since then i have added a hfc, sri and tb, and was wondering if tom sells just xcal 1 tunes?
1turbofocus 02-21-2007, 07:07 AM If there is enough intrest in getting new tunes for the people that have SCT now , I will look more into doing a SCT Tune for the SVT again , Just dont want to do 8 to 12 Hrs dyno and driving to come up with one for 3 or 4 people , I charge 125.00 for a mail order SCT tune so it would take a few willing for it to be worth it
Tom
Sedanman 02-21-2007, 08:23 AM Im interested, I have added several mods and want to see what another tune is like. Maybe something that can take more advantage of the mods.
SpeedOften 02-21-2007, 08:37 AM It's worth it! Also, Tom did get my TC button to work as a on/off button where the tune I got from Wayne didn't...

gukin 02-21-2007, 08:50 AM When Wayne disappeared, leaving several of his customers high and dry, Tom came through and got a reasonable version of his tune working for the XCal1 and XCal2.
This tune was good but it wasn't as refined as his predator tune. What Tom was trying to achieve was to provide _some_ support for people who had purchased an X-Cal tune but were not happy with it.
I tried Tom's tune for the XCal 1 (he had to convert the XCal2 to Xcal1) and it didn't seem quite as aggressive as the Wayne tune I had been running; so I stayed with Wayne's tune.
If I were to start modding my car or wanted to get a more up-to-date tuner than my XCal-1, I'd just bite the bullet and purchase a Predator tune from Tom. Tom has literally perfected the tune and going with the tune & tuner Tom uses would save everyone time and grief.
Big kudos to Tom for coming through and providng some help and hope for Wayne's abandon customers.
texassvt 02-21-2007, 06:41 PM so what is the predator running from tom with the custom tune? if price wise it's going to be close to get one for my xcal1 unit then i might consider bitting the bullet to upgrade. thanks
R00ST650 02-21-2007, 07:38 PM it seems to be 3 of us are in the same boat as far as waynes tune as I too added the RT HFC as well as an SRI... that gain between the two dynos is pretty damn significant! So its 125 if we can get enough people wanting the xcal1 tune- and how much is it for the predator with the newest svt tune? (I checked the site but couldnt find it)
I dont have a whole lot of money to spend so the 125 might be the best route for me as long as it has good gains and for sure can take care of the tc on/off switch!
bdan1010 02-21-2007, 08:40 PM Did I miss the memo, what happened to Wayne??? I got my tune from him about a year and a half ago and I've been really happy...
Algorhythm 02-21-2007, 09:00 PM He dropped off the face of the earth.
Kinda sucks, I only went with him for the 6months of free updates, I never got one update even though I asked for more than 6 months.
R00ST650 02-21-2007, 09:24 PM he was great while he was here but it slowly got worse and worse... At first I was getting updated tunes left and right (I have a total of about 15 tunes from him) but the longer he was around the busier he got with his own life and more customers and I never really heard back from him about the addition of the HFC and still getting the TC to be totally off.
Algorhythm 02-21-2007, 09:33 PM Anyone know what happened to him? Hope he just got overworked, nothing more.
RhodySVT 02-21-2007, 10:24 PM He had a bunch of personal issues. Some members on this board know exactly what happened but they haven't posted it because it's his personal business. It's really unfortunate that so many people lost out and the Focus community lost a contributor. With news that Marcy might shut it's doors after 2007 that would leave even fewer options. That being said Tom's tune has been great and this leads me to believe if I ever need extensive upgrades he would be at the top of my list.
WitchCitySVT 02-22-2007, 04:16 PM Anyone know what happened to him? Hope he just got overworked, nothing more.
No it was more, but he did what he had to do. He just didn't do it the right way.
GreenEnvy 02-22-2007, 08:13 PM How many times is this horse gonna get beat?
03OrangeSVT 02-22-2007, 08:48 PM None....

Can you hear it......
Here it comes [lockdance]
GreenEnvy 02-22-2007, 10:23 PM beat me to it...lol
