: 2.3 Stroker Pictures

Well today I went to Tom to drop off my car for the start of the installation of the newly fabricated 2.3 Stroker on a CGI Short Block.
THis car is going to be crazy with hopefully nearly 320Hp, and 260 Pounds of torque.
Tom and I are eagerly waiting to see the results! Next week, it should be up and driving, then comes the tune.....

Perhaps if I upgrade the SuperCharger later in life I can do more HP and TQ.

Rudel 02-13-2007, 06:32 PM I'm assuming about 320 before the 5.7" OD Pully. Me and Tom both won't know for sure until we get it on the dyno. It will definately be exciting! BUt with the pully, it will easily make the 300 mark.

Rudel 02-13-2007, 11:11 PM hehe....the engine itself or everything that I have put into it so far? These are pretty much the prices I paid for everything. Everything is pretty much new, except for the cam gears. If you were to buy used parts, I sure that the prices would be cheaper, but I wanted all new stuff to make the first 2.3 working without any problems.

320 is the probable Hp I will make. That's without the 5.7" Pully. Now adding the pully, we are unsure of what we will make. The 2.3 is newly designed Zetec with a ported head, a full 3" exhaust, boost-a-bump, billet main caps, custom rods, crank, and pistons. Who knows, maybe I'll make 350 and 300Tq.
If I make 300Tq, I would be an even more happy camper!
Tom has a simple math problem for doing Hp. Although I will not say it's accuriate. You take the HP you want, divide it by 2.0. Then multiply it by 2.3. I beleive that's how it goes.

If you seriously trying for 300Hp with a 2.0, I hope you have some planning and parts list ready! I haven't seen a SuperCharger reach the 300 mark without the right gear on a 2.0. If I were you, definately get the 2.3 stroker, CGI short block, 3" exhaust, and YOU pick either SuperCharger or Turbo. <-- That's up to you! [:D]

Damn, If my wife didn't have a dental appointment today, I'd be up there right now waiting for it's first start! I was about to call you in 15min Tom, but thanks for the update. Did you get my message about powering the gauges? hehe. And so the EGT and other Oil Pressure will be hooked up later I suppose?

I'm not sure if the rev wil be set to 7500. I don't think there is a need. But if it does get set, then so be it.
I wouldn't consider myself lucky to have this money. To me, its as if I'm using the military's money to buy all this stuff, while at the same time, I'm taking advantage of the free college, and putting left over money in for retirement. Sometimes I wish I wouldn't have to go this route for college and such, but I chose to do so (since I didn't have money), and I am not upset about it.
What would be a great company to go with for the Anti-Carjack systems?

1turbofocus 03-01-2007, 07:13 AM We started tuning it on the dyno yesterday , the low end numbers were very good TQ at 2100 was 132 and by 2400 was 150 , i dont think there is any Zetec making those TQ numbers down low , we hope to finish it today on the dyno so maybe some numbers tonight
He running the C2 PC at 15psi but we think the SC may be running out of steam on the top with the bigger engine , more tuning before we know for sure

Out of curiosity, what would your 0-60 time be with 320 hp and that much torque (assuming you don't peel out terribly :p)

anyways, congrats. you officially have the most unique focus ive ever seen, or anyone has ever seen for that matter.... SVT'd, 2.3'd, PC'd, LSD'd, 300+whp BEAST. it doesnt get much better than that. i mean it could, but not much...lol ROTM here you come![thumb]
hopefully, when Tom is done with my car on the dyno in a week or two, ill be seeing HP numbers like yours on high boost, but with TQ to match!!!

That was with the 5.7 crank the 2.55 blower = 15psi and the blower was running out

WitchCitySVT 03-03-2007, 08:49 AM Those are sick numbers, but thats a lot of money. I guess you get what you pay for. Tom do you feel that Rudel's setup is maxed out or can you run the psi up and make more power? From what I undestand the PC can go to 19psi. Am I wrong about that?
pocus02x3 03-03-2007, 09:27 AM the c-2 procharger can hit 20 psi and i can verify that one as I have a blown head gasket to prove it. I have the 5.9" crank pulley from cfm and hit 20psi at 7500 rpms. I wasn't tuned for this and blew a head gasket doing this(dumb mistake but it'll all be worth it in the end). I'm going to be haveing Tom tune my car once it's back together and we'll see how much of an improvment a 5.9" pulley is over a 5.75" damper pulley that i used to have on when i was making 16psi. At that point i'll be sure to let Rudel know if it's worth it for him to upgrade if he wants more power. Oh yeah and according to procharger the SC can hit 24 psi but of corse it all depends on how well your engine flows.

Was it 64 or 74K rpms were spinning Tom?

pocus02x3 03-03-2007, 11:37 AM if you have the 5.7 and the 2.55 your spinning to 74K the blower can go to 80k
which means you could slap the 5.9" pulley on and still pull the car to roughly 7400rpms and be safe as far as blower speed. Then if you factor in the fact that you probably have a bit of belt slipage in there as well you could almost pull it to 7500 and not worry. I'm planing on haveing tom pull my car all the way to 7400 when he tunes mine. I was going to go to 7500 but i looked at my chart again and i don't feel like risking it thats an extra 1500 over recommended max blower speed and I don't feel like sending mine back in again.
One thing i can honestly say however is the c-2 blower does seem to pull very nicely. You made a good decision going with that insted of the regular c-1. I know I like mine.

1turbofocus 03-03-2007, 04:11 PM Every one needs to keep in mind that we are feeding an extra 20 inches of engine every revolution and this uses up the air made from the SC much faster , after talking to the PC engineers we are right at the edge of the envelope of the air the SC can move , we went from about 5800 to 7200 with no more gain in boost yet the SC went up in RPM , That tells me the SC is out of breath from feeding the extra inches
Yes the SC-2 is good to 80,000 RPM , do you have any idea how fast that is ? According to PC the tips on the end of the impellers could actually start heating to the point of glowing and it would internally eat itself at the 80,000 RPM point , I was warned about NOT going to this point
Were at 76,000RPM now at 7300 RPM and i would like to see Rudel shift at 6500 , were testing new waters already with all this lets not have an impeller eat itself , and they will, I have seen it and it isnt pritty , Kills the whole SC unit

pocus02x3 03-03-2007, 05:45 PM I've talked to procharger on countless occasions trying to get them to make a unit that pushes more air or something along those lines. They replyed saying that they can't make custom units for those purposes. I really wish they could. Maybe it's one of those supply and demand type things where if there is enough of a demand for a bigger unit then they will make something bigger. I know right now I'm almost wanting a bigger unit and I havn't even gotten mine tuned yet. I do know that it might not be as much power as i want. I also asked if they have a unit that isn't that much bigger than the c-1 c-2 unit and they said they don't really have anything.

I can't to get my car back. For those that do not know, my engine over heated because the radiator crack in a motorcycle accident. I'm not sure what exactly may be broken, but the compression is in the 80s. Yikes! Hopefully it's just rings and I need nothing more. I'm using the CGI block and Tom's forged pistons. We'll see soon enough.
Tom told me that while he's on vacation, the car's engine should be being taken out, inspected and have new parts on order, and when he get's back, the parts can be installed.
Along with that, I am hoping to get my FMIC installed, and possible mount my 70mm TB I have. [deviltail]
Give it about a month 1/2 maybe.....anyways...Someone wanted pics?

Rudel 11-13-2007, 09:27 PM We'll see what happens! Hopefully it can been pulled off. I really don't think it's necessary to have a custom intake manifold built for 70mm TB. Perhaps a work around: a spacer or porting job on the actual intake so that the TB can go full WOT with no interference.
