Known by all is that the SVT Piranha is not a drag racer but more so a corner carver. Well, I knew this but didnt really know this. So after church today I went to go drive by a local lakeand around the lake is a nice 2lane each way highway which I knew. What I didnt know is that it is twisty like no other! Plus the set speed limit was 60. 60! So playing in between 4k and 6k rpms I ran that road like no other! And my car seemed to want more so well, im not going to deprive my car, thats rude. I took it up and slammed it into the corners and it still handled perfect! The road was a little bumpy but that didnt stop this car! This car is a driving machine! It was my first time to actually test the car out. Oddly enough, out of the corners it pulled like crazy. Maybe thats due to me reinstalling Toms tune (the first time I dont think it actually worked so I reinstalled it last night and tried it out today), My whole rpm range was smooth and potent! Today was a fun day.

You should all go find an empty twisty road and lay into it. The SVT Suspension is begging for it!

Make sure its safe though!

Anyways, just thought i'd share how great my morning was.

1turbofocus is Tom. He tunes the Diablosport Predator Tuner for SVT owners. It cost around $400 but is well worth it. Plus, you can keeep having it retuned with the more mods you do to keep it maximizing your power! Type "Toms Tune" into the search area and you'll find countless threads about it.

Dude imagine the SVT would have been geared a little bit lower.
MAN it would be perfect for city mileage.
I mean sometimes i wonder about this.I even did a post on it before i bougth the car.I bougth it anyway LOL.

I will use my warranty and possibly send my car to the dealer for tuning the engine(worthed?) and investigate the "dead moment" that happen sometimes when i launch.

How long have you owned your SVT? Your just now figuring this out? Now your in real trouble, because you know it can do it. I bet I can guess what your doing after church next sunday.

I doubt your dealer will do anything about that. Since the only time they'll "tune" the car is with factory tunes...they're not gonna custom tune yours :p

And the whole "dead moment" is normal...everyone of us with a stock tune will get that...and even more so if we have t/c

You should try one of the upgraded suspensions.... if you found the stock setup fun then you'ld love something a liile more aggressive.....WOW

I've been loving the way the SVT handles (tires play a big part too though), and I'm upping the suspension big time this spring. Apex springs, KYB AGX dampers, 22mm rear swaybar, and a lower trans mount are all getting installed. I can't wait!

Hmm regarding the "dead moment",a Golf i had was doing it too!
Sent it to the dealer but it came back.

I wonder what it could be.

Oh yeah, Pirelli P-ZERO Neros make a huge difference as well! I love mine! They stick like nothing else! No squealing or anything on 90 degree turns at 40-50!

Focistang85
02-12-2007, 07:45 PM
That's a hell of a turn. Taking a 90 degree at 40-50.

CaysE
02-12-2007, 09:03 PM
I could take it at 100 if the road is wide enough. [:D]

Focistang85
02-12-2007, 10:30 PM
No, it wouldn't be a 90 degree then. you would round it out. 90 degree is a right angle. That'd just be ridiculously fast. [screwy]

number1187svt
02-12-2007, 11:05 PM
Oh yeah, good point... I guess a straight up 90 degree angle would be, lets see, I do a 30 mph turn like that all the time casually. I guess pushing it, maybe 40 mph. Give or take a few. But anywho they stick like crazy. And they are round tires as in the outside wall has no top corner to it, it just rounds from the side to the top making it one hec of a corner carver. They are $180 a piece though from Discount Tire with the Warranty. Expensive but fun!

02-12-2007, 11:45 PM

jstuver
