I did some'thing dumb yesterday.I was curious to try my new STS and i decided to go for a test ride with low profile summer tire ^^^
[duh]
I didn't go very far.[shameful]
I got stuck in front of my house spinning on the compact snow.[8]
The traction control flash few times(what does it mean?).
It feel like only one wheel was spinning.[dunno]

When the t/c engages the light will flash. We don't have a LSD so it's more thn likely true that you felt only one wheel spinning...

Even though your traction control is on (it engages when flashing, attempting to stop your wheels from spinning), it can't overcome the lack of friction present when summer tires are on snow. TC works best during summer temperatures with tires that are as sticky as the stock Continental tires from what I've been able to tell. I have traction control enabled with my winter tires on, and I can spin the wheels any time I want.

I was curious of this myself because I got stuck pulling out of my driveway on wednesday when we got about 5 inches of snow. I had my dad sit in the car and gas it while I pushed. Both front wheels were spinning both in forward and reverse gears. My TC light was going crazy and eventually just stayed lit even though the car was just idling. When I shut it off and switched it back on, it went out but started flashing again once the wheels were spinning. I was curious because I know these cars did not come with LSDs, but both my front tires were spinning in the snow. When I had my dakotas, my truck without an LSD just spun the passenger side tire, while my dak with an LSD spun both rear tires ( with help from a 4.7 V8 and 5 Speed stick [woot] ). Is it possible to have both wheels spinning without an LSD? I have never owned a front wheel drive car before so I am curious. Our PT Loozer spins the passenger side tire like crazy but not both.

traction control is the stupidest thing ever cuz it cuts off the throttle when your wheels spin. You kinda need wheel spin to get out of the snow. I BELIEVE, that when accelerating in a straight line, the open differential will allow both wheels to spin. However, when cornering, the open dif does nothing. This is where a LSD comes in handy; in the corners. The LSD will send power to both wheels to keep them both spinning instead of just one

I have a switch to my TC and when i am getting stuck or need to get unstuck i turn that crap off and it works a heck of a lot better than with it on.

i was gunning it turning ,wheel back and forth- can help transfer weight.
