Well, I'm in a quandry and I have three options to choose from. I know that most of you will tell me my first option is pretty much brainless but I'll list 'em off anyway.
First option: Pick up a Comp Orange EAP that I've been eyeing up for the past month.
2nd option: Trade in my current ATX and get a MTX ZX3 with 30K miles with an $8000 sticker price.
3rd option: Pay Karl at Massive a visit and get boosted.
What would you guys do at this point? My fofo right now has 94k on the clock but she still runs strong.

thats a tough choice, if you like your auto and think itll hold up for a while go get it boosted and upgrade the tranny otherwise option 1 and 2 are pretty good, but i say option 2 cuz they arent as spendy as a svt is, premium fuel expensive parts etc...

First option is pretty much a no-brainer.
Next option I would go with is search for an '03-'04 ZX3 with the 2.3L PZEV motor. If you look on Auto Trader and look at the VIN, look for a Z in the eighth place in the VIN. I've been looking at them and been finding them for $6k-$8k depending on mileage.

ya mike that makes sense get the 2.3 zx3 duratec thats your best bet!

How does the PZEV take to modding?

i think its about the same as the 2.3 st, i know a few things like the air intake are specific for the pzev, but im not 100 percent positive, and i think youll be better off with a 2.3 pzev then anything, bang for buck wise!

I'll have to consider it in my search for a better fofo. Thanks guys.

The PZEVs respond great to mods, the biggest benefit to them is adding a CAI, which, as far as I know and have seen, any intake designed for the manual Duratecs will work on the manual PZEVs, along with the Cosworth intake manifold, if you can find one. Plus, if you later decide to go turbo, you can get either the FocusSport kit, or once it is out, the F2/Hi-Boost kit.

How many catalysts on the PZEV?

Probably the same two as on the Duratecs, but I would ask that sort of question over in the Duratec part of the forum, more likely to get a better/more definite answer there.

BTW, I personally would choose option #2. The PZEVs have a lot more potential than the SVTs...there's not much you can to in the way of bolt-ons to the SVT due to the fact that the header is very well designed along with the exhaust, but the PZEV/Duratec motors have huge amounts of power potential, along with better torque potential because of the larger displacement.

yah go with option 2 if you want a ton of power. if you want a nice dd with good power, but nothing too over the topget the SVT :D I love mine :D It's good enough for a dd.
