Can someone direct me to a thread on how Ford's warranty treats bolt-on parts and mods to the Focus line?

Or, if not, just give me a general synopsis of same.....

If you put a cold air intake on and it sucks water into the engine.. Ford will not warrentee the engine. If you put a chip in the computer, Ford will not warrentee the engine if you scream it past 7000 rpm and you blow the motor. If you put an underdrive pulley set on, and your window regulator breaks, Ford will cover the window regulator. See what I am getting at?

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON DEALER. SOME SERVICE WRIGHTERS ARE ON COMMISION AND THEY TAKE ANY CARE, SOME ARE HOURLY AND DONT WANT TO BE HASLED WITH STUFF. FIND ONE THAT HAS A COMMISION STRUCTURE AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED WITH THEM SERVICING YOUR CAR, DEPENDING ON MODS.

Leave it box stock if you want warranty coverage.

you say that if water gets sucked into the engine, what if you use a bypass valve?

I know it says you're driving a "Saturn" god knows thats punishment enough... But stay away from "mods" if you don't want to give Ford (or GM) the chance to back out of warranty coverage.

It really depends upon the dealer, some are very picky when it comes to aftermarket mods. I have no problems with mine as long as the problems I happen to be having at the time of service do not stem from any of my aftermarket mods.

To be on the safe side if you run a CAI, it would be wise to also have a bypass valve. Just my .02 [;)]

I have recently read that congress or someone passed a law that says that any aftermarket mods on a car will not void the factory warrenty if it improves the cars performance. I do not know if this only counts on stuff that improves gas mileage or saftey or what. But if u go to www.aempower.com and click on the FAQ, then click some of the products, their are ansewers that say it wont void the warrenty.

That is a law you have to read carefully. The replacement part has to meet the manufacturers specs or they can void the warentee
