Im thinking about buying a Volvo C30 T5 AWD when they come out and wanted to know if the ECU is some what the same as the focus ST from over shores. The reason I ask is because everything i've found to tune the computer for one of these is about $1000 bucks. Also does anyone know if the excal 2 (or something else) suppot that ECU. Thanks for the info.

The specs are almost identical (peak horsepower is 4hp more on E.U. version; peak torque is the same) between the turbo five used in the U.S. spec C30 (as well as other Volvo products) and the E.U. spec Duratec 5 used in E.U. Ford Focus ST's. The ECU module itself is very likely the same but the firmware that runs on it is a certain bet to be different. U.S. and E.U. emissions requirements are about equally stringent these days but they are not identical. The torque bands are almost certainly a little different because of differences in European versus American driving styles and preferences, as well as to accommodate the different transmission and final drive ratios these differences would call for.
As for the Excal 2 supporting it, I could find neither evidence that it does nor proof that it doesn't. Sorry...
